How do I restore the address bar at the top of my window in firefox on a mac?

My kids were messing with my computer and must have pushed something and everything disappeared. I need to know how to put an address bar (back button, refresh, ect) back up into the top of my window. Part of the problem is that my computer screen is cracked and I can't see anything in my menu easily. A command that would restore the address bar would help. Thanks.

Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
*Open the Customize window to set which toolbar items to display
**View > Toolbars > Customize
*Check that the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is on the Bookmarks Toolbar
*If the "Bookmarks Toolbar items" is not on the Bookmarks Toolbar then drag it back from the toolbar palette in the customize window to the Bookmarks Toolbar
*If missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up

how can I get the tabs back where they belong beneath the address bar , NOT on top ???
they are on top, which puts the address bar at a variable position depending on how many tab rows exist - makes a moving target for navigating to across my dual 24 inch screens
I tried your "solution" using about:config and setting browser.tab.on.top or whatever to false, but that had NO effect
    Maybe because TabMixPlus is installed?
It does allow putting the tabs all the way at the bottom, but I don't like that either.
PLEASE, give me the address bar at TOP with tabs under that!!!
Also, I don't want FlashGot to be at the right of the address bar!!!

why should we use yet another add on to get the tabs back at the bottom? Big mistake.
Moreover, why make FF look more like Chrome? If I wanted Chrome, i would have installed it long time ago.
FF 29.0 is NOT an improvement.
    Nasty piece of mud.

  • In FF 29.0, how to move the address bar on the top of the tabs bar?

It is OK in Firefox 28 and lower to set browser.tabs.onTop=false to move the address bar on the top of the tabs bar. But in Firefox 29, I can not find the browser.tabs.onTop
who can tell me how to move the address bar to the top of the tabs bar?

<u>'''Can't see the Menu Bar'''</u> (File, Edit, View, History...Help)? Hold down the key ( key in OSX) and press the following letters in this exact order: V T M
The Menu Bar should now be displayed permanently, unless you turn it off again (View > Toolbars). Turning the Menu Bar on and off is a new feature in version 3.6.
<u>'''See other bars'''</u> under View > Toolbars. Clicking on one of them will place a check mark (display) or remove the check mark (not displayed).

  • I want the reload button to appear outside the address bar (on the left, next to the back and forward buttons), not at the extreme end of the address bar. How can I do this?

I want to re-position the reload button to appear outside the address bar (on the left, next to the back and forward buttons), not where it is at the moment, which is at the extreme end of the address bar and is a real hassle to use. How can I do this?

To move the Stop and Reload buttons to their position to the left of the location bar you can use these steps:
    * Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize"
    * Drag the Reload and Stop buttons to their previous position to the left of the location bar.
    * Set the order to "Reload - Stop" to get a combined "Reload/Stop" button.
    * Set the order to "Stop - Reload" or separate them otherwise (Space or Separator) to get two distinct buttons.

  • In version 3.x.x I used to be able to type search terms into the address bar and the page would load, similar to Google's "Feeling Lucky" button. Now it just brings up a Google search for the terms I typed in. How can I get this time saving feature back?

The change between Firefox 3.6.* and Firefox 4 is how location bar search works. In Firefox 3.6 it uses Google "Browse by name" search. With the browse by name search, it performs a Google search and if there is a clear match it will take you to the site, otherwise it shows the Google search result. With Firefox 4 it just performs a Google search if you type something which is not recognised as a URL.
To get the Firefox 3.6 behaviour on Firefox 4 you need to change a hidden preference.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''keyword.URL''', double-click on it and change its value to the link shown below

If you prefer, you can also do this by installing the Browse by Name extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/browse-by-name

Did you check your security software (firewall)?
A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

There is a simple way to try and fix the Issue.

  • UserId & Password in the address bar of the browser

The address bar of the web browser running a form shows the user id and the password? How to hide them?

If you don't specify a username and password on the URL, the user has to provide one. This one is not shown in the address bar. E.g. you can start a form like this:
    http://server:8888/forms90/f90servlet?form=logon.fmx
and the user will be prompted for a username and password.
You can also call the form like this to automatically log in:
    http://server:8888/forms90/f90servlet?form=logon.fmx&userid=un/pw@db
but the un/pw are shown in the address bar.

  • I would select a link from the drop down on the address bar but the page would not open. I would select it again but the page does not open. I could only reach website by selecting google on most visited list.

After updating AVG anti-virus, I encountered a problem on Firefox. I would select a link from the drop down on the address bar but the page would not open after clicking on it. I would select it again, even double click, but the page does not open. I could only reach website by selecting google or yahoo from my dropdown on the most visited list and then click the website that I want to visit. I would like to do this in one step by just selecting a link from my history on the address bar and select a link instead of going to google and then writing the page I want to visit. What could be the problem? When going to the address bar to select a link to open, why does the site not open? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Ability to move the address bar to the bottom if the screen

    Hi
With smartphones getting bigger every day, it would be very helpful if there is an option to move the address bar to the bottom of the screen where it can be accessed easily with one hand.
Please let me know if that feature is available already. If not please add the same. It would be a very helpful feature.

No currently this is not a feature in Firefox for Android. However I would recommend adding a feature bug to the [bugzilla.mozilla.org]
Thank you for the suggestion :-)

  • How do I change Default search engine in the address bar, not the search window on the top right or by using about:config, doesn't work. Worked fine until this FF 8.0 update, now defaults to Yahoo 7. About to throw it in and use Chrome.

When Firefox 8.0 installed it has automatically changed my address bar default search engine to Yahoo7 which is crap. I can not change this back. So when I start FF it opens to my google home page, when I type a subject and search the results are displayed in a Yahoo 7 results page, not google. I am not talking about my default home page or the search bar to the top right. This is still google.
The settings in about:config do nothing.
This was fine until FF 8.0.

    Thanks dmcritchie,
Nice effort but that answers a different question about fixing the add-on Yahoo toolbar.
Pernich and I want to know; If you type search criteria directly into the address bar and hit enter, how to change that search engine from Yahoo to Google.
Otherwise I too will go back to using Google Chrome, even though I really like FF8.0
    please help

  • When I drag and drop an icon from the address bar to the desktop is does creat the shortcut but will not display the website icon, only the firefox icon, how can I display website icons?

When I drag and drop a website icon from the Forefox address bar to the desk top, the short cut is created but the icon that appears is the firefox Icon. I want to disply the icon from the website that the short cut refers to. I have checked all I can think of in my computer to no avail.

You have to assign the favicon yourself to the desktop shortcut (right-click the shortcut: Properties) after you have dragged the link to the desktop.
You can usually find the favicon in Tools >Page Info > Media and save the icon there.
Otherwise use the main domain of the website and add favicon.ico (e.g. mozilla.com/favicon.ico ) to display the favicon in a tab and save that image to a folder.

  • Firefox doesn't let me copy the web address from the address bar using the context menu with second button in mouse or trackpad

    Hello!
I write to report a problem I have with the new update v35 and v35.0.1 Firefox on address bar
With the new version 35 of Firefox on Mac OSX Yosemite, clicking directly with the right mouse button in the address bar to copy the web address, context menu NOT allowed to copy the link, it shaded in gray, inactive ... you have to click on another browser free zone before returning to click a second time and be able to copy the link from the context menu
I mean, with the first right click in the address bar context menu that appears don't allow me to copy the link directly, you have to click on another area and then clicking again with the right mouse button in the address bar to copy the web address (happens to all pages)
I tried to open Firefox with inactive complements and plugins, and reset Firefox to first time use (like the first install) and the problem is here again... With or without complements and plugins the problem is here
This happens before and then when I format my computer
Here I put a screenshot that explains the problem better than my words

I hope you can help me

    Hello
The icons in the screenshot is from Linux OS, because I don't know how to capture screen, and somebody in Linux OS made it to show the problem that I was talking about
I don't have any icon addons only have 2 plugins, quicktime (integrated in OS) and adobe Flash, updated both
Before I format my Mac, I upgraded Firefox to v35 and here came this error
Then I format my Mac after days, by subjects of hard disk space, etc... when I install Firefox 35 (new install) the problem was here again
I tried to Open Firefox with disabled Add-ons, and Reset Firefox to an install version, but the problem is here always
