How do I retrieve my newer photos if I restored from an old back up?

Hi, my sister lost all of her contacts somehow yesterday and wasn't prepared to save them all manually once again so she asked me to restore from a really old back up that I had of her phone on my iTunes. We didn't realise that this would affect her photos and, unfortunately, she has lost a lot of the new photos that she has taken since she last backed up her phone on my laptop, plus she never used iCloud or Photo Stream, etc. Is there any way to retrieve the photos as they are really sentimental photos (including pictures from her Wedding, Honeymoon, etc) or are they gone forever?

You should use a computer with a reasonably current version of Windows (or Mac OS X for an Apple computer).
Load the current version of iTunes (free) which you can get at http://www.apple.com/itunes
Sync her old iPad using iTunes. Do that by opening iTunes and plugging her old iPad into the computer using the USB cable that came with the iPad.
Then plug the iPad 2 into the same iTunes and let it sync. One of the options (since you say it's new) will be to restore from the old iPad.

Sorry, but if the data from your new iPhone6 did not get backed up before you restored it from the backup of the iPhone 5, your data is gone.
Check iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices if there is any backup for the iPhone6 listed. All backups should have a time stamp, backups you used to restore from will not be overwritten and the content will remain the same.
If there is no backup, your photo data is gone.

Just to make sure - You're saying you had backed up your iPhone 4. When you plug in the 3GS, and try to "restore" the data from the iPhone 4 backup onto the 3GS, you get that error? Check to see if the iOS version is up-to-date, and hopefully it isn't. It might also be because your iPhone 4 wasn't, and is causing some sort of problem.

Had to replace my 64gb. When I go to restore from the old one to the new one it says the Ipod touch refused the request. What do I do now?

How do I get my new ipod touch to restore from the one I had to replace. It says the ipod refuses to allow the transfer and I have no idea what to do. I have rebooted the computer and turned the touch on and off again. Can someone please help me with this? Just as a note the one I am replacing wouldn't sync and more and even though it had been plugged into the computer all night and the battery pictured said it was fully charged the battery symbol was not registering. I did not restore my new phone from back up because I did not realize I needed to restore and not just activitate it. How can I save the new photos, apps, and other stuff but retrieve the old photos?

If all you want is your old photos, you could backup your new phone using iTunes, then restore it from your iCloud backup, import the old photos to your computer, then restore it from the backup your made in iTunes returning your newer data to your phone. If you want your old photos on your phone, sync them there from your computer using iTunes. The process would look like this:
Connect your phone to your computer, when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar right-click on it and select Transfer Purchases; right-click again and select Backup.
Disconnect from your computer and go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings to return it to new
Go through the activation setup, choosing to Restore from iCloud backup. Make sure your phone is plugged into a charger and has access to wi-fi as this can take hours to complete.
When complete, without connecting your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to Preferences. On the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"
Now import the old photos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083)
When done, open iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left sidebar and select Restore from Backup, choose the backup you made in step 1.

With iPhoto every new photo was automatically imported and saved on my local disk (with "full resolution" that's what I only need). In the new photo app I have still my photo stream and when I move a photo (drag and drop from the photo stream) to a new album it indicates a (plus). My understanding is that the photo is now copied to my local disk. But when I deleted the photo in the photo stream it was also deleted in the album !?
If that is the case I can use the photo stream only until I reach the max of 1.000 photos, then I have to delete photos and I will have no copy left.
How can I "physically" copy a photo of the photo stream to my local disk? I just want to "transfer" all pictures taken with Ipads, Iphones to my central storage on the Mac. Please don't propose to connect it via iTunes (cable) to the Mac.
Any other suggestions?

The amazing device cannot do it because no amazing developer has written an app for it. There is some interest, others have asked, but i have a hunch that the market is fairly limited, and no developer has jumped at the chance just yet.
Any sort of tethered approach means try to feed the material to the pad thru the cck. Which means the app would have to use the allowed/existing cck pathway in a manner that does not violate the sandbox rules. That may be the problem.
