How do i return pages and keynote and possibly get a refund?

I recently bought pages and keynote from the app store, the program is fine, but i prefer word. Is there anyway i could return both programs and get a full refund?

Applications from mac App Store are entirely dematerialized. There is nothing to open before installing them.
You are right that the official policy is "no refund" but from time to time Apple accept to reimburse. They did for Final Cut Pro X.
If the customer explain that he can't work with the new features Versions and AutoSave, I assume that they will accept to reimburse.

Examples of what is going on:
1. In Pages, Numbers & Keynote, when I go to the media browser the Audio section reads "Open iTunes to populate this list" even after iTunes has been opened, .xml file has been replaced/repaired, etc AND Photo section reads "Open iPhoto to see photos from your iPhoto Library in this list" even after iPhoto Library has been replaced and new default library created.
2. In iMovie, similar thing ... when I go to add photos or music to a movie the iTunes files aren't present and the iPhoto photos are missing with similar messages as in #1.
3. In iPhoto, similar thing ... when I go to add music to a slideshow it says to "Open iTunes to populate this list".
It is shocking to me that Apple would let something as simple as a pathway link to associated library files get this messed up on an upgrade, but what's even more surprising is that with the number of people who seem to be having this particular issue (and I can tell from all the research that I've done for weeks online that there are a lot of them) that there doesn't seem to be a single clear answer to fixing it anywhere on these community support forums. Most of what I've seen is rehashed advice from outdated issues. What I need is a simple answer to how do we get these programs to look for the correct location of the photo and music files because I sure can't seem to find any logical place to do that through the programs' preferences files or the system preferences window?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the same problem on a new MacBook Pro. I have not been able to access the iTunes library from iPhoto since I got this computer. I looked in the Preferences file and deleted the com.apple.iApps.plist but there was no com.apple.iApps.lockfile so I just deleted the iAPPs.plist and rebooted the computer. Still no iTunes available in iPhoto.
All my music is in iTunes and plays. After reading the above I brought up Pages and I was able to access music and insert a track into a document.
Do you have any suggestions.

I went to Notes. Showed all notes. Three notes are duplicated, one on iCloud and one on Icloud. I deleted one of the notes and checked to see if the other still existed. It did. I deleted the other two notes. I check all notes and found that the three notes were deleted on both accounts. The only notes on this device are under On My iPad.
I went into system settings and tried to delete the Icloud account. The warning comes up: This will delete all IMAP notes on your device. Will this also delete the notes in On My iPad?

It seems that Apple is trying to turn its computer applications into iphone apps. They are eliminating essential features and functions that don't work on a 600 dollar pocket watch. It appears to be part of a misguided attempt to have universal cross-platform compatibility. Or they just want to get out of the computer business. I suspect that accountants are having too much influence on business models. There is a place for accountants. But giving too much control to bean counters can eliminate quality and cripple innovation, leading to the ultimate downfall of the corporation.

If you had the previous version of those apps on your machine then the upgrade is free.

I think when uninstalling you may also have to choose (tick) to delete the preferences and other personal data like the bookmarks, stored passwords etc. to erase completely. If you are installing afresh, please try right-clicking on the file and '''Run as administrator''' to install. And when uninstalling, please also make sure choose to delete all data and also manually delete any '''Mozilla''', '''Mozilla Firefox''' or '''Firefox''' from %appdata%, %localappdata% and %programfiles%. You can open a location by typing for eg. %appdata% in the '''Run''' box (Windows key + R). You may also have to check the '''VirtualStore''' folder in %localappdata%. Files in the VirtualStore can be problematic. I think a clean installation may help.

Trouble loading Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and Garage Band onto my new iPad Air

I received my iPad Air on Tuesday. Since then, I have been trying to load all the apps I had on my original iPad. So far, everything loaded quickly and successfully, except for my Pages, Numbers, Keynote, and Garage Band (which will be new to me). Over 36 hours of trying to get these much-used apps loaded, I am at a loss of what to do. I have tried rebooting the iPad, refreshing the load by touching the icon, deleting the app and trying to reload. Nothing is working. I appreciate any insight into getting my apps loaded.

Then you either have a network problem or a hardware problem or a corrupted hard drive. You might try:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.

How can i combine pages in potrait and layout orientations in one document in Pages '09?

I am a new user to iwork '09. Previously I had been using Microsoft office for Mac, but I recently downloaded iWork as i believe Apple designs hardware and software which has better performance.
So far i am happy with using pages'09, but recently I have gotten frustrated. I do many project documents which have narrative sections which are usually done in portrait orientaion, but these documents also have rather wide tables which are best presented in landscape orientation. I could switch page orientation in word, but in pages, I have not been able to do so. This alone makes working with pages rather difficult and not appropriate for quite a few of my proposals.
Would anyone be able to advise me on how I can make documents in pages which have some pages in portrait orientation and other in landscape orientations within the same document?

Thank you so much for your response. I appreciate the time you have taken out to attend to my query.
The document I am working on is to be shared with a team for further inputs. Its frustrating how they can all mix page orientations as they use word and I cannot because i use pages. In essence I will also have the final input on some of these documents and then forward them to coleagues internationally, hence they must look presentable and easy to read.
Do you have any tips I could use? I could use word, but I love the look of my documents when done in pages, its a fantastic word processor, albeit this limitation.

You cannot invoke "automatic" printing from the server side. Best what you can do is to download the whole PDF file inline and let the client decide what to do with it. If you really, really want to pick a page out of the PDF file and display that page only, then you should use a PDF reader API for Java to be able to pick a page programmatically. iText is such a PDF reader API for Java. You can find it here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/itext

i am unable to figure out how to have in a single document a page in landscape and the next one in portrait.
can someone advise on how to do it? or maybe this option is not available in pages08.
at least i have to be able to insert a chart in lanscape even if the document is in portrait and i am unable to do it as well

To fill in the blanks: start your document in portrait mode; on page 2 select all the elements, then click on the Metrics inspector. Use the rotation wheel to rotate this elements 90 degrees.
