How do I return to firefox 3.0. Norton toolbar is not compatible with firefox 4

When I upgraded to firefox 4 I found the Norton toolbar was incompatable with this beta version. I contacted Norton and they suggested I return to older version of firefox. How do I go back to firefox version 3.6?

The Turnitin system requirements on mention Firefox 3. If it does not support Firefox 4 you can downgrade to Firefox 3.6
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

If you are lokking for loopholes or workarounds - they don't exist. Your only option is to buy a new license of Acrobat XI. Of course, depending on what functionality you need, there are enough alternative, cheaper tools to create and edit PDFs or even free tools. Most of them won't deal with forms or otehr advanced features, though, but as long as you only want to convert your Word files to PDFs, the'll do the trick and you don't need Acrobat.

I wish it were that but a long time ago when I had a problem with the gadgets with iGoogle back 6 months ago thereabouts I was asked to disable it then and I did and I just went to re-check and it is still not enabled, however, it will not let me un-install it though.. It only gives me an option to enable or disable.. Any advice ? So I'm wondering if it is something else still or is there a problem with the avast still ?

Not much for details. I like the 'spell check' option on the Google toolbar - it's always there no matter where I'm typing. But, since I installed FF 5/0, GTB is not compatible. I would like to go back to a prior version of FF. But, I don't know how to do that.

Google needs to update the Google Toolbar program for Firefox 5.0.
The Google Toolbar 7.1.20110512W version does work pretty good in Firefox 5.0 by using the Compatibility Reporter extension. But not every feature works 100%.

You sent me a software update. It tells me you found an incompatible add-on. It further tells me that my Norton Vulnerability Protection 11.3.0.9-5 won't work with this update, and will be disabled. I'm suppose to wait until they're compatible and then you will update and re-enable my Norton Protection?? I don't know that much about computers but I do know I need to protect it. I just bought this Norton Anti-Virus Protection at Christmas and now you are telling me it's no good? What am I suppose to do in the meantime? That link is for the tool bar, not the vulnerability protection component. The latter is a known issue with Symantec and apparently was a conscious decision on their part on getting patches out in a timely manner at the expense of breaking some functionality.

I don't believe that you can actually "delete" a built in app. You most likely just "hid" it. Look in "device information" then scroll down to "more information" tap "software" and see if it's listed there. If so, it's probably greyed out. Tap it and you should have a choice to unhide it.

You could use firefox 3.6, which is old but still supported and secure. However the best solution is to give up on using Google Toolbar because Google no longer support it with firefox, mainly because it has little to offer.
You can still save google bookmarks by copying them into Firefox. Please have a look at

I am hoping the Norton report you refer to merely says your system has vulnerabilities, rather than that it has an actual infection (or that it has dealt with or quarantined any malware).

There should be a User Agent Switcher menu item under Tools, which gives you the browser names you can impersonate.
