How do I revert firmware PowerPC g5 to older firmware?

Hi, I have a PowerPC G5 dual 2.0 june 05 that I would like to roll back the firmware. I downloaded the version from apple and when I try to instal it says I have a newer version. Without looking the last numbers were f8 instaled and f7 downloaded.
My fans run crazy. The drive bay fans and the rear cpu fans. No hardware problems running hardware test. Nvram reset, pmu reset. Memory all good,
I have a seagate green 2tb drive.
I got this machine and another and this was having some troubles and never really worked perfect. First issues were hanging at the apple logo. After much monkeying I was going to use other machine and swapped power supplies. No difference, but noticed that the bottom processor was not seated exactly perfect.
This would explain the intermittent booting. I had it at the apple store and it fired perfect every time, got it home and nothing.
At that point with 80 gig sata the fans and all worked perfect. Since 2tb installed the fans keep humming away. I would change back to the 80 gig, with the exception that it seems anytime I change any hardware the boot hang happens.
This just has me suspect to the firmware issue, and want to roll it back before any more swapping. It is consistent in booting now, and just noisy.
I have searched internet and cannot find a step by step to revert back. Years ago I did a manual update on an imac, seemed I went into terminal and typed a long string etc.
Any ideas or help appreciated.
Thanks

Before you go that far, have you reset the NVRAM?  Occasionally a HW change will confuse the device table stored therein and a reset will clear things up.
To reset NVRAM, you need to boot into Open Firmware by holding down the cmd-option-O-F key combination until you get the white Open Firmware terminal screen.  Once you are there, enter the following three commands:
reset-nvram <cr>
set-defaults <cr>
reset-all <cr>
The last command will cause the machine to reboot and with any luck, you should come up with a normal boot.
The fan issue may involve a thermal calibration issue, though the fact that it works fine with the 80 Gig drive says that's probably not the issue.

• Revert Firmware

Hi,
I know there are many issues with Macbook temps etc. However, my daughter's Macbook was doing just fine until the new SMC firmware update, whatever that is.
It used to run silently, now she has the fans running permanently, what a racket!!
How can I revert the Firmware to stop the fans running continually?
I suspect I can't, but will ask anyway...
Do I have any options?
Many thanks,

About the Firmware Restoration CD
The Firmware Restoration CD can restore the firmware of an Intel-based iMac (Early 2006), Mac mini (Early 2006), or MacBook Pro to original factory condition.
You can only use this to restore the Firmware after an interrupted or failed update. If your computer is already in this state, you'll need to download the software and create the CD on another Macintosh computer, or you can take your computer to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider to restore your firmware. This CD can be created on both PowerPC and Intel-based Macintosh computers.
Note: This CD cannot be used to return an Intel-based Macintosh computer's firmware to a previous version if a successful update has already been performed.
You can locate the software for the Firmware Restoration CD at Apple Downloads.
To restore your computer's firmware, you must first create a CD using the disk image named "FirmwareRestorationCD.dmg", following these steps:
Open Disk Utility (located at /Applications/Utilities).
Click the Burn icon or select the "Burn..." menu item from the Images menu.
Navigate to where FirmwareRestorationCD.dmg is located, and click the Burn button.
Insert a blank recordable CD
Click the Burn button to create the Firmware Restoration CD.
The files are burned to the disc.
Next, use the Firmware Restoration CD to restore your Firmware back to factory condition:
Ensure that the computer you are trying to restore is plugged into an AC outlet.
Turn on the computer and continue holding down the power button until the LED blinks rapidly followed immediately by a successive series of blinks (3 quick blinks, 3 slow blinks, 3 quick blinks), then release the Power button.
Insert the Firmware Restoration CD into the optical drive. You will hear a long tone once the recovery process has begun.
After 30-60 seconds, the startup beep sound is played and a progress bar appears beneath the Apple logo on a gray screen. The progress bar indicates the firmware is being updated. DO NOT unplug, shut down, or restart the computer during the update or you will need to start the restoration process again beginning with step 6.
The computer will restart automatically after the firmware is updated.

• Firefox 31.6.0ESR updated to Firefox 37.0.1 -- How do I Revert?

My hard drive crashed and was replaced by a repairman who moved all the files but somehow 'updated' my Firefox 31.6.0esr to Firefox 37.0.1 (the About Firefox window shows 37 but the Update History shows last update as ESR ?!?).
This PC needs to be on the ESR channel.
How do I revert/convert/whatever back to ESR without losing the settings/add-ons/etc. for all the users?
FYI: This 'update' has broken a bunch of stuff:
* The Search Bar is now invisible. Already tried removing, re-adding, setting size, etc.
* Loading each page initiates an error message about a 'getter' and spawns new windows.
ALSO: I tried to attach an image of the issues and it kept hanging, even after creating a smaller version.
Since I can't attach the screenshots, please view them from my website:

Please help! (I'm already at wit's end about the hard drive crash. :-P )
Thanks!

First, use the refresh Firefox feature to create a backup of your user profile.
The Refresh feature (called "Reset" in older Firefox versions) can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your bookmarks, history, passwords, cookies, and other essential information.
Note: When you use this feature, you will lose any extensions, toolbar customizations, and some preferences. See the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article for more information.
To Refresh Firefox:
# Open the Troubleshooting Information page using one of these methods:
#*Click the menu button , click help and select Troubleshooting Information. A new tab containing your troubleshooting information should open.
#*If you're unable to access the Help menu, type about:support in your address bar to bring up the Troubleshooting Information page.
#At the top right corner of the page, you should see a button that says "Refresh Firefox" ("Reset Firefox" in older Firefox versions). Click on it.
#Firefox will close. After the refresh process is completed, Firefox will show a window with the information that is imported.
#Click Finish and Firefox will reopen.
Next, download Firefox ESR. Then uninstall Firefox and install Firefox ESR.
Last, follow the instructions in this article to restore your backed up profile: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles

• How do I revert back to previous (before 11) itunes. Someone nicked my Album Cover flow, without asking

how do I revert back to previous (before 11) itunes.
Someone nicked my Album Cover flow, without asking. I have snow leopard. I was happy. Just before Christmas as if I havent got enough to do Thank You. I've given Apple loads of money this year--presents and all, the least they could do is tell me, they're going to take stuff off of My computer that I enjoy,/ find very useful/ and worked hard to update all my album covers and have a gallery of my own artwork for my mixes--it was beautiful. When I went to add some more, the facility had been taken away from me. Was so dissapointed. They send me emails all the time to buy the latest must have products. I even did a questionair to help them. They really care for their customers--right. So why couldnt they warn me about this update, its only polite.
If I bought a warm coat some years ago, then the manufatures came round without my knowledge and cut off the left arm, and later told me, their reserch says that people dont use the left arm so much so they have to get rid of it. 1. I think that would be illegal. 2. its impolite not to ask if they could do it. 3. why not give me an options to keep it, seeing as i bought it. 4. its ludicrous.
I trusted Apple-but then -they took my YouTube off my ipad. I cant update to newer software as I will lose some expensive programms (Im not made of money). I also have 2 oldish defunct but fully working laser printers (if they were compatible with new software).
Im not a techky-I just use the stuff, I do art and music and Cover Flow was equipement I used.
I want to get rid of itunes 11, anyhelp out there

• How do I revert to iTunes 11.0 or earlier?

iTunes used to work well with my iPad1, iPhone5, and two iPod5's.  I would periodically synch them in order to create a backup, or transfer any new apps.  Ever since I upgraded to iTunes 11.1.4.62, iTunes will no longer recognize any Apple device.  Windows 8.1 recognizes them just fine, I can easily transfer pictures and videos as I always have just by right-clicking on the device in Explorer, and choosing Import Pictures and Videos.  When I run iTunes diagnostics, it fails the Device Connectivity tests, and comes up with a red dot telling me I have nothing connected.  This happens with all devices.  I have tried different cords (I have 3 lightning, and 2 30-pin), but all are the same.  Windows no problem, iTunes no dice.
I found an Apple technote (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US), however I have followed the suggestions and thus far it remains the same.  My local security software has not changed recently, nor do I have any other phones.  After playing around with this for a number of days, I am convinced that the latest version of iTunes is at fault.  I don't remember this happening with iTunes 11.0, so how do I revert to that version?  Or barring that, how do I go back to a version 10.x?
Thanks.

I have tried to restore the individual files of iTunes 11.4 from time machine with no success. On an apple support call they mentioned to do a full system restore from the time machine backup thru the OS X Utilities. Unfortunately for me I hadn't done a recent backup before accidentally updating to iTunes 12.0.1.
If I restore all the individual locations of the iTunes files I either get the spinning pinwheel of death or an error that a required component is not installed.
The answer from apple support was learn to like iTunes 12 otherwise we can't help you.
There are several ways to remove iTunes 12 through certain software or by stoping the background process related to iTunes..

• How do I revert back to the old operating system?  The new upgrade that came out totally disabled my WiFi and the default backgrounds changed to white instead of bla k.

An upgrade was sent to my Samsung Galaxy S5 phone on 3/27/15 and it ruined my phone.  I no longer have the ability to Wi-Fi.  When I swipe the phone on there is a clicking sound and the scree goes directly to my keypad.  I want the phone to go to my home screen like it did before.  My apps that had a black background now have a white background which is impossible to see outdoors.  I want the black background back for settings, clock, and calculator.  Samsung tech support says this stuff is default with the new upgrade.  How do I revert back to the version I had before without having to put the phone back to factory settings and lose all my pictures, memos and other files I have accumulated over the last year that I have had the phone.  I am desparate.  Please help me.  Send an e-mail to (removed)

You cannot revert back without voiding warranty and we cannot discuss the methods to do so.

• I installed 6.0.2 on OS10.7.5 and now Safari won't open.  6.0.2 is just for Mountain Lion.  How do I revert to 6.0.1?

I installed 6.0.2 on OS10.7.5 and now Safari won't open.  6.0.2 is just for Mountain Lion.  How do I revert to 6.0.1?

I do have a cloned back-up, so I tried to just copy Safari 6.0.1 back onto my main drive—wouldn't work.  Got a message that the System needs Safari and I can't touch it.
I'm trying to find a simpler way to revert than clone backwards, which takes a lot of time.  And actually I never use Safari.  I'm a Chrome user.
You are correct that I downloaded 6.0.2, rather than using software update.  However, with many other pieces of software, if you try to install over the wrong system, you get a message telling you that the installation can't be done.  Apple could have saved a lot of trouble by using this message.
I have three machines of different vintage, so one is on 10.6.8, one on 10.7.5 and one on 10.8.2.  I am usually pretty careful about software updates and which system is needed.  Unfortunately, in this case I used CNET download, and the description of 6.0.2 said it was for Lion and Mountain Lion.
