My ipod can no longer sync with my iTunes library. Someone suggested that I revert my ipod from 10.10.2 to 10.10.0. How do you do that?

Command-R to the rescue.
Just hold down Command-R during startup and Lion Recovery springs into action. It lets you choose from common utilities: You can run Disk Utility to check or repair your hard drive, erase your hard drive and reinstall a fresh copy of Lion, or restore your Mac from a Time Machine backup. You can even use Safari to get help from Apple Support online. And if Lion Recovery encounters problems, it will automatically connect to Apple over the Internet.
When boot into Recovery and select item 1, you will be given a choice of a point to recover from.

Ipod Classic with Itunes 12.1 - Warning

First off,
Known issues - immediately after 12 dropped, pretty much all functionality involving Ipod classics was broken. Mac OS recieved a patch that fixed this, Windows has not, and there has been no addressing this issue thus far.
My stuff: Ipod class 120gb 8 years old, windows 7 64bit gaming rig, windows 7 64bit laptop. Gaming rig has been updated to 12.1, laptop was kept in version 11.
The problems: Most common - Ipod will disconnect seconds after being plugged in, leaving no chance to do any diagnosing whatsoever.
Less common - Ipod will show up and be interactable in Itunes, click Sync and get stuck in a never ending loop, stuck on song 1 of X forever, I left it doing that overnight - a good 16 hours - just in case, click restore and get an error 1439 (or similar number, basically same error) Ipod cannot be restored
Least common - upon clicking "restore Ipod" the computer will blue screen, complete system crash resulting in a system recovery or total loss of data
The fix(for me anyway) - use itunes 11 - Thankfully I had an old laptop that still had version 11.something installed on it, I was able to transfer my non-itunes store music to it and everything is just peachy
I reiterate - These are known issues, I have found dozens of forum posts on various websites complaining about just how fantastically broken the itunes 12 update has been, and many people have resorted to downgrading back to 11, a not-so-broken version. But here's the kicker - Itunes version 11.0.0.163 has NUMEROUS problems that result in either failed installation or instant crashes whenever you try to launch it, or if you're lucky just crashes whenever you try and access the Itunes store through it. Good luck trying to find someone to help you with installing these old versions if you run into one of these problems.
If you have an Ipod classic and a windows 7 computer DO NOT update to Itunes 12, it will not work, and most support operators will run you through hours of diagnostics just to prove that your ipods hard drive isn't crapping out from age.

Today, I tried with the latest iTunes just issued (12.1.0.71) and still the same issue: my iPod classic appears for 1 sec in iTunes, then disapear...
This is incredible. Do you know if some people ARE able to sync their iPod Classic with iTunes 12.x? Or do Apple wants to kick out all the "old" iPod Classic and force us to buy new iPxx? Could any of the music have been sourced on an external USB drive or a network drive? In iTunes, go to one of the songs that won't sync. Bring up the info page, and look at the location of that song on the disk. Does that file and path exist? That could be your problem, especially if they were on a USB drive you forgot about.

I completed an itunes update a few days ago. Since that time; I have been unable to sync my iPod classic with my library or even manage it. I have been searching and see that this has become an issue for many people who use Windows 8. Is there any way I can fix this issue? I do not want to manage my iTunes music on the cloud. I just want to be able to plug in my iPod and manage it through iTunes. Is there any way I can do this?
I contacted support for assistance, but didn't really receive any answers to my questions. The first reply was asking me what my issue was (when I had already wrote a lengthy explanation of the issues I was having) and the follow-up said that I needed to call to speak with a representative to see about support options including fee-based support. I don't feel that I should have to pay fee to understand why I can no longer sync my iTunes with my iPod. I have many songs in my library and I have paid for them all. Why can't I have access to them on my iPod? As it is; I can't even manage my playlists anymore.
I am considering selling my iPod if I can't get this issue resolved. I really don't want to because it is still fairly new, but I don't see any reason to keep it if I can't use it.

How can I sync my iPod Classic with iTunes 11.1.4 and Windows 7 64-bit?

After assistance from ‘b Noir’ (and losing--then finally regaining--my DVD/CD reader in the process), I finally installed the iTunes Version 11.1.4 update on my Windows 7 64-bit PC. So I am again able to import music from CDs, play music on my PC with iTunes, and burn CDs as I could do with previous iTunes versions. Then, however, I purchased some new music and tried to sync iTunes with my iPod Classic for the first time since the update to 11.1.4. So far, I have been spectacularly unsuccessful. Can anyone help me?
With previous iTunes versions, sync was automatic when I connected iPod to a USB port. Now when I connect iPod Classic to PC's USB port (I've tried two different ports), iPod’s screen says “Connecting” but iTunes doesn’t open. And while iPod is connected to the USB port, I can't open iTunes by right-clicking its icon and selecting “Open.” (ITunes, however, always opens OK if iPod is NOT connected). With the iPod connected to a PC's USB port, I opened Windows 7 “Devices and Printers.” Devices shown included both (a) the “Apple iPod USB Device” and (b) “Apple Mobile Device USB Driver.” I right-clicked each of these device icons in turn and selected “troubleshoot.” Both times, the report was “Troubleshooting couldn’t identify the problem.”
I am also unable to properly “eject” the iPod. I tried ejecting (a) from the Windows taskbar's Notification Area, (b) from Windows “Devices and Printers” and (c) by right clicking the iTunes icon and selecting “Eject.” Nothing worked, so I reluctantly pulled the cable out of the iPod without ejecting. That causes a yellow triangle with an exclamation point to appear in “Devices and Printers” for my PC—which disappears after shutting down and rebooting the PC.
If I start iTunes and THEN connect the iPod Classic to the USB port, iTunes does nothing and almost instantly freezes (shows as “not responding” in Windows Task Manager and I have to close it via Task Manager).
Suggestions, please, on what I need to do? My iPod Classic continues to work just fine, but I can't put any of my newly purchased music on it and I guess it will become an expensive paperweight if the battery happens to run down. If nothing else, is there an old version of iTunes I can download somewhere that likely will work with the iPod Classic and my PC setup? Thanks so much!

Thanks so much for your response--yes, I've seen the TS1363 document.
I was able to open iTunes, start the iPod Diagnostic Device Connectivity Test, and connect the iPod when prompted to do so. The only problem reported by the diagnostic program was "No iPod, iPhone or iPad found." So it does seem as if the TS1363 document should apply. But I have tried connecting the iPod after executing each of Steps 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, and 9 shown there and nothing has worked so far. Details follow:
--Went through the iPod Classic troubleshooting assistant--except I did not "reset" the iPod (because having all my "old" music available on the iPod has value to me).
--Restarted iPod Service.
--Restarted Apple Mobile Device Service.
--Verified that the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed. There is no down arrow or question mark or other indication of problem with it.
--Tried two different USB ports (I assume that is what is meant by "change your iPod's drive letter"?).
--Temporarily disabled Norton Antivirus.
For some reason, there are 368 files and 60 folders in the Temp folder under my user name, and it looks like at least some are "read-only." Windows wouldn't let me delete or move the folder, even after I turned off Norton AntiVirus and closed the programs in the "Notification Area" that I could figure out how to close.
I'm very reluctant to get into messing with Config files or registry keys. And I have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes 11.4.1 so many times. I'm not sure what to do but am considering uninstalling all of the Apple products (again) and try installing an older version of iTunes. Or maybe I should try to install iTunes 11.4.1 on our Windows 8 laptop and see if the iPod will connect to that (although I really need to be able to sync to my desktop PC). Probably won't have time to do either for a few days--too many other things to do. But please let me know if there's something more that's relatively simple and low-risk I could try. Thanks again!

How to manually create an iPod save with iTunes?

using iTunes and an iPod Touch, sometimes it happens that I want to have multiple save points available for restore in case something goes wrong with the iPod (e.g., losing notes, or forgetting which podcasts were present on the iPod, etc.)
I noticed that, somehow, such saves were generated at some point inside ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup; all three are named upn the same model, a long, hexadecimal-looking string, then "-date-time". All three are properly recognized in iTunes.
As I don't remember how these were generated, how can I start a new iPod save whenever it synchronizes? I set podcasts, contacts and calendars to sync automatically, and I manually add or remove films and music.

You can always right-click (control-click) on your iPod in the devices list of iTunes and select Backup.
From the manual, page 109: "Backups can be created in the following ways:
Once iPod touch has been configured to sync with a particular computer, iTunes automatically makes a backup of iPod touch on that computer when you sync. iTunes won’t automatically back up an iPod touch that is not configured to sync with that computer. If you have configured iPod touch to automatically sync with iTunes on a specific computer, iTunes will back up iPod touch every time you
connect it to that computer. Automatic syncing is turned on by default. iTunes only makes one backup each time you connect, even if you sync multiple times before disconnecting.
If you choose to update the software on iPod touch, iTunes will back up iPod touch automatically, even if it is not configured to sync with iTunes on that computer.
If you choose to restore the software on iPod touch, iTunes asks if you want to back up iPod touch before restoring."
