How do i rotate images in the Book feature?

I run Aperture 3.4.4 and want to know if i can rotate images when designing a book.  I looked through the archives and there are several notes that say if i mouseover the upper left corner of a selected image in Edit Layout mode i will get crosshairs.   This does not happen in my version.  Any suggestions?

You could try to change the "angle" in the "Edit Layout" view in the Size & Position options.
To show the "Size&Position" layout options use the cogwheel below the Pages browser.

    The heading says it all...

Well actually, it doesn't say it all
Do you mean rotate a few degrees to get the horizon level, or 90 degrees because the camera or software didn't properly recognize the photo was either landscape or portrait, or 180 degrees; or change from landscape to portrait without rotating 90 degrees; or what?

In Muse: How to auto rotate Images on Full Screen Slideshow if pictures were taken mixed Portrait and Landscape

There is no way that Muse would automatically rotate the images. What you can instruct Muse to do is whether you want to show all image content and leave blank space in either direction OR scale the image to fill the frame resulting in some cropping, but filling the otherwise blank space.
The options are Fit Content Proportionally and Fill Frame Proportionally respectively.

The short answer is that you'll put the source clip(s) for each inset on a different video track, all stacked up. Then use the Scale and Position effects (under "Motion" on the Effect Controls panel) to reduce their size and place them where you want.
If the content of an inset will involve edited content (where you're cutting among various clips or just trimming out unwanted content from a single clip), then you'll probably find it easier to do all those edits in one sequence, then nest that sequence in the master sequence, where you apply the Scale and Positioning effects. That will save the step of applying the scale and position effects to each edited track item.

  • Image on the book tabs

    Hi,
I basically have a menu bar with dropdown menu. The main links are designed as books and each menu item a page. I wanted to have an image on the book tabs. Is there any way I can do it. I tried the selected image book property but it didn't work.
    Thanks,
    RK

1 - yes, it did.  However, iPhoto 7 is not longer supported by the Print Products store so you'll have to upgrade to iPhoto 8 (09) at a minimum before you can order books. Also some of the themes that were in iPhoto 7 are no longer offered in the later versions of iPhoto.
    2 - yes.
3 - don't know.  It was some version before iPhoto 7.  Been too long.

  • How to apply an image to the back face of another?

I am only fairly new to motion but am, learning fast. I'm wondering if someone can tell me how to apply an image to the back face of another image?
I'm trying to animate a brochure opening and want to apply the front cover as the back face to the page I'm opening to (each page is a separate .pdf file). I know this can be done easily rather than animating them as 2 separate objects, i just can't remember how to do it.

Thanks Mark. That is how I will do it if there isn't a simpler way. I could have sworn i have seen the option to allocate an image as the back face to another image. So when it animates, you automatically see the other image on the reverse side?

YOu can also use Bluefire Reader for reading books that need an Adobe ID. There are several ways to transfer a book to your iPad. One way is to email the acsm file, open the email on the iPad, and "Open in ... ". Another way is to use an app like Dropbox. The third way is to connect your iPad to your computer, open iTunes, select the iPad, and under  Settings select Apps. Scroll down to the File Sharing apps, select the app you want the book on, on the right select Add, navigate to where the book is on your computer, and select it. Open the app on your iPad and it should load.

  • Problem using the Book feature for first time.

Created and saved a book no problem. How can I add a new image to a saved book? When the book is open the filmstrip only shows images in the book. I originally loaded my shortlisted images in a collection. I've added additional images to the collection but can't access them from the Book module. Any suggestions gratefully received.
    LR5.3 running under W7
    Thanks

    How about this:
    * open your Book document, and open a document from within it.
    * hide all palettes with the Tab key.
    * edit your document, close and save it.
    * show all palettes with the Tab key.
Now ID will insist the document has changed "outside" the Book! It took me a while to find out why the heck ... just because the Book palette was not visible.
Fortunately, you can safely ignore the warning for this scenario.

  • Rotating images in Address Book??

I am rather confused at the determination of Address Book to store contact photo's on one side??
I have rotated images right round 360 degress but no matter what way up they are once I drag them on to the image frame, address book automatically rotates the image 90 degrees counterclockwise of the right way up???
It is clever how it knows but also very frustrating? Does anybody else have this experience?

    Hi Wesley,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
Are you saying that Address Book takes an perfectly good upright image and rotates it 90 degrees CCW?
I am a little confused by your statement.."It is clever how it knows but also very frustrating?"
What program are you using to edit/rotate your images?

  • How to add a title to the book cover/spine?

    Hi,
appears to be a stupid question, but I couldn't find any answer in the Videos by JK o any other help page:
How can I add a title to he book cover and the spine of a blurb-book made in LR5?
I could not find any cover template having a title (only a lot of text).
    Thanks a lot in advance,
        schleifi

I have worked with Booksmart and made one book successfully. I have also made a book in Lr 5.2 and had it printed by Blurb to my satisfaction.
Compared to creating a book in Lr the workflow in Booksmart is cumbersome and slow.
    (1) During the creation of a book in Lr I test the book often by exporting it as a PDF. This option is only available when you select PDF instead of Blurb - but it is possible to switch between PDF and Blurb without harm. The only change is that the Blurb logo page disappears when PDF is selected. Viewing the PDF in Acrobat tells me what the book will look like in print since my monitor is calibrated and set to the correct intensity (brightness).  It also tells me if my sharpening is good. For the export to PDF I select 100 for quality; color profile sRGB; file resolution 300; sharpening High; media type glossy.
A Blurb representative told me that these settings come close to the settings that Lr uses when the book is uploaded to Blurb.
In Booksmart I can't export to PDF.
BTW you should sharpen the image so much that it looks a bit too sharp in your PDF. When the boook is printed the ink droplets spread out a tiny bit before they dry. This tends to make the print softer than it looks on screen.
    (2) Booksmart is not color managed. Therefore in Booksmart you have no feedback how your book will look in print. If you want to test your images you have to softproof them in Photoshop.
    (3) When I make a book I find often that my develop adjustments are not optimal. In Lr it is very easy to switch the the Develop Module, make the necessary adjustments and switch back to the Book Module. With Booksmart you have to export the adjusted image again - or it has to be re-published if you use the Blurb plug-in.
    (4) In the past I have made complaints that Lr does not give enough flexibility for the layout. Since then I have worked more in Lr and I find the Book Module actually quite good.
I find that the full page bleed allows the most flexibility for creating my own layout. Starting with a full page bleed I use the padding feature to place the image anywhere on the page and in any size I want. The boxes for "Page Text" and "Photo Text" allow for more than one column. The text can be edited by adjusting Tracking (all letters are spaced wider/closer), Kerning (individual pairs of letters can be spaced), Baseline (letters can be pushed up or down), or Leading (the distance between different lines of text can be adjusted). There are no such features in Booksmart.
    (5) Selecting a color for page background or for text is cumbersome in Booksmart. In Lr it's easy.
The cover of my first book in Lr looks like this:

  • How Do I Rotate Content, Not the Frame

    I am in InDesign CS1.
I need to figure out how to affect the content of a placed image, not the surrounding frame. I know how to set the rotation angle of the selected object's frame:
set rotation angle of selection to 10
But for the life of me, I cannot understand how to leave the frame as it is and just rotate the content. I.E., normally, if I grab the direct selection tool and click an image (hovering over the image inside the frame turns to the hand tool), I can then manipulate the content without affecting the outside frame. But I want to do this with an AppleScript.
I also assume that if someone can open this door for me, it will then lead the way to being able to scale the content, without affecting the frame. But I cannot figure out the secret of "content" vs. "selection". Halp!
    Thank you!

Your definitions are what I would expect, but for me, applying each version as one of these two separate scripts:
    1)
    tell application "InDesign CS"
    activate
set rotation angle of selection to 10
    end tell
    2)
    tell application "InDesign CS"
    activate
set absolute rotation angle of selection to 10
    end tell
Gives me the same result. The frame rotates and the content rotates with it.
Let me start over with my problem as that may help...
So let's say I have a frame and it has rotation 0˚. Inside the frame I have an object rotated to 5˚.
Applying either of those two scripts has the same result. The frame rotates to 10˚ and the content (when selected with the direct selection tool) now shows a rotation of 15˚.
But what I want is for the frame to stay at 0˚ and the content (when selected with the direct selection tool) to show a rotation of 15˚.
I am thinking this may be relates to the "Transform Content" and "Transformations Are Totals" preference settings. Both of which I have turned on. I know how to turn them on and off with an AppleScript, but it doesn't seem to be helping.
