How do I sahre a printer on XP with Leopard using wireless network?

Please help!

We'll start with the assumption that both the XP and Mac computers are connected to the same local network and functioning normally. You will need to so something on both the XP system, and the Mac:
On the XP computer:
1. Click on the Start Menu and click on the "My Network Places" icon.
2. In the list on the left, click "View network connections".
3. In the "Network Connections" window, find your network connection (probably "Local Area Connection").
4. Right click on your network connection, and select "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
5. Click on the "General" tab.
6. In the box labeled "This connection uses the following items", check the box labeled "File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks", then click on "OK"
7. Reboot the XP machine (usually not necessary, but there are circumstances where it is).
8. Click on the Start Menu and select "Printers and Faxes"
9. Right-click on the icon for the printer you wish to share and select "Sharing..." from the pop-up menu.
10. On the sharing tab, click on the "Share this printer" bullet, and give the printer a name in the box labeled "Share name" (use something simple), then click on "OK".
On the Mac:
1. Go to the Apple menu in the upper left of the screen, click on it, and select "System Preferences..." form the menu.
2. Click on the "Print & Fax" icon in the second row of icons.
3. If the little padlock in the bottom left of the window is closed, you need to click on it and provide the administrator password to make your changes -- do that.
4. Click on the "+" button under the box labeled "Printers".
5. In the window that pops up, click on the "Windows" icon.
6. Navigate to your XP computer and printer like you would navigating to a file in Finder, and click on the printer's name (the one you typed in the box labelled "Share name" in the instructions above for setting up XP).
7. Select a printer model under "Print Using" (if you don't find an exact match, find the closest model by the same manufacturer).
8. Click "Add".

  • How to access Files / Folders on Mac from XP Laptop Using wireless network?

Hello, I have successfully set up my iMac and XP laptop to access the web via a wireless router. However I am wondering if there is a way for me to wirelessly connect to my files and folders on the Mac from the XP laptop? I am going nuts trying to figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You can find lots of useful information on iFelix's page "Sharing files between a Windows XP PC and a Mac running OS 10.4.x".
If the folder you want to share isn't viaible, you can use SharePoints to make any folder available to share.

  • How do I boot from a USB drive with Leopard using a Lion iMac?

I'm looking to wave good bye to my MacBook Pro running Leopard and upgrade.
However, I need to keep a version of Leopard so I can run certain Audio Units that won't run on Snow Leopard or Lion.
I have made a bootable drive with Leopard on it, but I can't get it to boot on my iMac running Lion.  It boots fine using the MacBook though.
What am I doing wrong here?  Is what I'm looking to do possible any more, or do I need to configure the drive for use with a Lion machine somehow?
Any help would be very much appreciated...

Clearly not supported by Apple but as an Engineer I would like to know what the barriers are.
I believe that pre-installed Lion has extra disk partitions - probably for Utilities and software 'repair'. Having extra disk partitions is not new for Apple - they did it on some Macs long before OS X but these did not stop booting from other OSs or replacement with new single partition disks.
I suspect there are ways of doing it but it would probably invalidate the guarantee and might require removal of Lion, disk format, partition and reinstallation of OSs. Even then the reinstalled Lion may not work. I suspect it is only a matter of time before somebody posts a low risk way of doing this.

  • How to get existing (Dlink) printer servers working with Snow Leopard

I have a new macbook. We have two existing Dlink 1260 print servers serving 3 Windows machines. Both connect to our network via CAT5, we have a Buffalo router and cable modem service. One print server has a HP inkjet ands the other has a Canon inkjet printer. I know the IP addresses (static) and TCP ports of the two print servers. Apple's support people told me they arent trained to help me on print servers.
How does one install these print servers in Snow Leopard 10.6?? I am out of ideas other than Geek Squad :>(

I would imagine you need to connect via IP, LPD, put the IP address of the server in for Address and the Port Name in for the Queue.
You will need Postscript drivers for the printers, based on info on the D-Link site.

    Hi,
actually there's none. The UITableView class needs to "know" the tableView's height so either it can calc <number of rows> times <row height> or it has to sum the height of each single row.
If the row which needs to be of different size always is the first or the last row you can user a tableHeader or tableFoot view.

My Ipad 2 cant find my HP3050A j661b airprint printer although the printer is connected to the same wireless network and software updates are current on all and my other laptops also work properly with this printer.further more it used to work with my IPAD2 before when I used the old wireless router but now I changed it to HAUWEI HG231f but I set everything in the same way it was. Thanks in advance.

When you change to the new router, did you re-run the CD to re-set the new SSID and password to the printer.
Otherwise your iPad will not be able "talk" to your printer.

Are you using a v6 uitlity.. because it is a toy.. ??
Get v5 utility and then you can hold down the option key and select the right mode.
If you have lion, just install it.. For ML follow this.
How to load 5.6 into ML.
    1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
    2. Download and install unpkg.
    http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.

  • How to achieve Check point functionality in SSIS with out using check point.

    I got question from
    interview!!! How
    to achieve Check
point functionality in SSIS with out using check point. If package
fails it has to be re-run from the point that it failed instead
    of rerunning the entire package.without
    using check point.
    Please
any one can explain step by step...

Sorry you have failed your interview question. Good thing you remembered it, thought about it, and ask a question about it. The solution is actually very straightforward.
Create a table to store the state of your progress. Before each step read the table to find out where left off, then skip each completed step. After each step write to the table which step you have completed. A step can be anything, a task, a component,
a row, an import file, an export file. You don't have to use a table, it could also be a file, just something you can read and write, and does not disappear when your package stops.
If you find this difficult to comprehend, think of a checklist of things you do everyday and work from there.

My ipad2 recognizes my hp c410a printer (which supports air print) but nothing prints. Printer is set up on a wireless network. Printer sees, nothing prints. Any thoughts?

The router is a Linksys WRTU54G-TM. The Ipad recognizes the printer and spools the print job but there is no action at the printer. E-Print works.

    You don't.  ITunes is needed.
