How do I save a "bash" script? (in attempt to fix one of my other problems)

However, what am I supposed to do with that code? Put it in the Terminal? Save it as an Apple Script? I also got the "lingon" program set up, all I need to do is figure how how to save this "bash" script and all set!
Any ideas?

Add the suffix command in your script name. E.g. Script.command.

How can i save the Visual script in other drive

I'm new in this Forum and i'm just started working on Oracle functional tool.
In Oracle functional tool , i can't save the visual script in the different path ...
For example:
I have installed this suite in drive C: and all the scripts are saved with in it..But i want to save the script in other drive whereas E: drive ...........
How can i do.....

hi
you can store the scripts in one of the workspace available in OATS.
you wont get a chance to create the work space in other drive then in which OATS is installed.
but if you need to make a back up of scripts then simply copy and paste it wherever you want them,and whenever you need to run the script then copy it and paste to one of the workspace of OATS.

How do I save a a web address in more than one bookmark folder?

I often want to store the address of a web address in more than one bookmark folder. Sometimes I know this when I first decide to save the address; other times I find I want to 'copy' an already stored bookmark in a second folder. I've struggled through the Firefox Help on bookmarks to uncover how to accomplish this -- but (as with so many online computer Help sections!) have been unable to find an answer to what is, obviously, a basic question!

You can copy a bookmark from one folder and paste it in another folder to have a copy in more than one folder.

I did not restore my new phone from back up because I did not realize I needed to restore and not just activitate it. How can I save the new photos, apps, and other stuff but retrieve the old photos?

If all you want is your old photos, you could backup your new phone using iTunes, then restore it from your iCloud backup, import the old photos to your computer, then restore it from the backup your made in iTunes returning your newer data to your phone. If you want your old photos on your phone, sync them there from your computer using iTunes. The process would look like this:
Connect your phone to your computer, when it appears in iTunes on the left sidebar right-click on it and select Transfer Purchases; right-click again and select Backup.
Disconnect from your computer and go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings to return it to new
Go through the activation setup, choosing to Restore from iCloud backup. Make sure your phone is plugged into a charger and has access to wi-fi as this can take hours to complete.
When complete, without connecting your phone to your computer, open iTunes and go to Preferences. On the Devices tab check "Prevent...from syncing automatically"
Now import the old photos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083)
When done, open iTunes, right-click on the name of your phone on the left sidebar and select Restore from Backup, choose the backup you made in step 1.
Go to the Photos tab and select the photos you want to sync to your phone and sync.

SCRIPT-reflection of changes in one language into other languages

i have one problem in scripts,
if i have done some changes in 1 language ( i.e text in script editor), those are not being reflected, but if i create a window layout in one language, this is being reflected in other languages also,
what is the procedure to get reflection (i.e the changes in text) in other languages also, please help me in this issue,

suppose u have chage the form in EN lanuguage... now u want to maintain the changes in FR language...
then <b>login in FR language>goto se71>enter u r form Name--> CH</b>ANGE.
now you will be inside the script..
now in the MENUBAR>selct>FORM>COPY FROM> now a popup will be displayed-->here enter the form Name in Engilish(the same form) and language = EN.
i am sure u r problem will be solved.

How to link two text boxes so that text flows from one to the other.

In Adobe Acrobat XI Pro, I have managed to link two text boxes with JavaScript.
I have deselected the "scroll long text" and selected auto text size.
I have entered the script into the "custom keystroke script"

Now my problem is this works for IE but I can't get it to work with adobe reader or pdf expert on iPad.
I need my forms to work with both, windows & ios.

i have my ipod and it has movies on it, but i can only play one movie and it will not play onto the second movie, can anyone help how to get it to change movie without having to go through the menu??

i did create a video playlist but it still only plays one movie and then goes back to the menu, unless i have repeat all on and it only repeats one movie

How can I run a bash script using Calendar? I thought I had to park it in an AppleScript script which I could call, but that isn't really working.

Some notes for the replies:
- The shell script has no environment issues. It's a straight mysqldump for a single database.
- The AppleScript has the do shell script "path/to/script.sh" user name "root" password "wobblyhead" with administrator privileges
- Calendar application can only recognize the .scptd and .scpt files, and not .app files. Upon choosing my original .scpt file with the do shell script instruction, it just opens the file in AppleScript Editor.
So the file gets called, but for some reason, it just opens the file and won't run the file. No options for choosing a format where it's actually run.
Not sure how to go about this.

Sudo Command in Bash Script

So I created a simple bash script to run on login.....
one of the commands is the following:
sudo "something something something"....
One thing I haven't learned in my years of Unix is how do you get a bash script to run a sudo command without having to enter a password? I know this is trival, but just a quick 'this is how you do it' would be cool.
Thanks ahead of time on this really dumb question.

There's a few ways to do this. Here's two (pick the method you like):
Method 1: Using "askpass".
With this you always do sudo -A command. The -A argument tells sudo to execute a command that echos the password to stdout. That command is something you write. For this explaination let's call the command pw and stick it /usr/local/bin. So it's full pathname would be /usr/local/bin/pw.
sudo -A can get the pathname to pw a number of ways.
1. From the sudoers file.
Use visudo to add the following line to the sudoers file:
Defaults:ALL askpass=/usr/local/bin/pw
2. Using the SUDO_ASKPASS environment variable.
export SUDO_ASKPASS=/usr/local/bin/pw
This might work too (assuming SUDO_ASKPASS has been previously exported):
SUDO_ASKPASS=/usr/local/bin/pw sudo -A command
Method 2: Have sudo read the password from stdin
echo -n password | sudo -S command
The -S option tells sudo to read the password from stdin so echo pipes it in (without the ending newline).
The only relatively secure scheme of these two methods is the askpass (-A) method. At least with that method you have a chance of encrypting/hiding your password down in the command that echoes it to stdout. The -S method would contain your password explicitly in a script somewhere unless you make other provisions to encrypt/hide it with that technique.

Questions concerning basic bash scripting

at the moment we do bash scripting at university, but I seen to encounter some problems in understanding the functionality of bash. I would be very grateful if you guys could help me out with one or another question.
First one:
Task to accomplish: Scripts with three arguments. $1 -> source directory, $2 -> file suffix, $3 -> target directory. Search source directory for all files with suffix $2 and copy them to $3.
I tried to do it, using pipe and xargs, but I am wondering how to pass the filenames found over the pipe.
find $source -name "*.$suffix" | xargs cp [MISSING ARGUMENT] $target
How do I access the data I need to fill in as first argument of cp, or isn't it possible to accomplish the task this way?

Almost, you just need the -t flag to cp which basically reverses the order of SOURCE and TARGET in this instance
find $source -name "*.$suffix" | xargs cp -t $target
Also, I suggest you escape the * in your find to prevent bash expanding it. Bash shouldn't expand, find should.
You might like to also use the -iname (as opposed to -name) predicate to find if you don't care about the case of the source files.
