Copy the iMovie Library. It should be in YourUserFolder/Movies/iMovie Library. See iMovie (2013): Work with multiple libraries

  • How do I import individual frames from iMovie into iPhoto?

How do I import individual frames from iMovie into iPhoto? Or how do I export individual frames from iMovie into iPhoto? My final goal is to have a DVD of individual photos from a video I recently shot. Thanks

Here is one way to do it, although you will see there could be variations.
    1) Open iMovie
    2) Start a new project - name it Stills for iPhoto (or a name of your choice)
    3) Go to your EVENT. Find the spot with the cursor that you want a photo of. Right-click (or control-click if you don't have a mouse) and select ADD STILL FRAME TO PROJECT.
    4) The photo should be in the Project called Stills for iPhoto.
    5) Right-click (control-click) on the photo and select REVEAL IN FINDER.
6)When the finder window opens, right-click and select COPY. Go to your Desktop or a folder of your choice and right-click PASTE
    7) Drag the photo from your Desktop to iPhoto

Do I Share to File (whatever that is.)?

    Hi,
See if the old version of iMovie is still in your Applications folder.  I re-activated mine.  Evidently, in their infinite wisdom Apple decided that they want to force their followers into the Cloud and that DVD operations are yesterday.  Frankly, I think it very presumptuous of them to make that decision for us.   I intend to lodge an official complaint.

  • How do i save a frame to a image file?

im trying to save a frame from Final Cut Pro 5 to my hard disk to save and edit with an editor such as Photoshop. how do i save it. what menu options do i use?

The first thing you should do is check out the manual. This is a very, very basic export procedure; File->Export->Using QuickTime Conversion. Then choose still image from the format menu and your file type (JPG, TIF, PSD, etc) from the Option Menu.

  • How do i save a frame on safari??

im looking to save a frame off an ebay auction for security purposes. anyone know how to do that?
    thanks a bunch

deedho1's solution will save all of the text on the page, but the formatting may be off.
The screenshot (Command-Shift-4) option will result in a picture, which might be what you need, but it has its limitations. It won't have searchable text, and it will only capture the visible portion of the frame or window, not anything that is offscreen or outside of the frame.
I would do one of the following:
    1) Control-click inside the frame that you want to save and choose "Save frame as..." from the contextual menu that pops up. You can then choose the entire content of that frame as a Safari webarchive.
    OR
    2) Control-click inside the frame and choose "Open frame in new tab." Then switch to the new tab and use the print command (Command-P), click on the PDF button at the bottom left of the print dialog, and choose "Save as PDF..." I personally prefer that option since a PDF is more portable than a Safari webarchive. And I'm not certain if this is still true, but in the past Safari webarchives had to load images from the internet - they didn't actually download the image information and preserve it in the webarchive file.
(Edit: Actually, you don't need to open the frame in a new window. Just clicking inside the frame and then choosing Print and then Save as PDF will save that frame's content as a PDF.)
Both options will have relatively faithful page rendering. And both will result in searchable text instead of a plain graphic. Even if you don't care if it's searchable, real text is more useful in many ways. For example, it's more sharp when printed and it can be enlarged in Safari or Preview/Acrobat Reader.

  • How can I save different versions in iMovie 11 (plus angry rant)

    Sigh.
My fiancee is sitting in front of the computer crying because iMove just messed up her project.  The project that was basically done.  The project she has to hand in tomorrow morning (it is midnight right now).
Who knows what happened.  Things apparently just jumped around and no amount of undoing is getting her back to where she wants to be (apparently she used undo, then tried to fix things, then tried to undo again).
    Which leads me to:
*** was Apple thinking when they removed the ability to save a file?  Seriously!  Both of us are experienced computer users and both of us are in the (very vital) habit of saving multiple versions of a file.  We don't save a version every 10 seconds, and we don't save a version for every insignificant change.  But we do save versions whenever we feel we have hit a milestone.  And we would have done exactly that had there been some obvious way to do it in iMovie.
OSX Lion (the first version of OSX that desperately makes me want to downgrade) is supposed to autosave so that you don't have to.  But iMove 11 apparently cannot do even this simple thing. As far as I can tell you work on your project and it is the *only* version of this project you can ever work on.  If you make a change, you can either:
    live with it
    or
linearly undo as long as you have not quit the program.  Heaven forbid that it crashes or (like it just did right now) stops playing back audio and you have to quit and restart.
There must be a way of saving different versions of your project so that you aren't messing with your one and only precious copy every time you make an edit.  Please tell me there is.  Or how do I get to the autosaved versions?  It is probably too late for her now (she has to redo most of the project to get the audio to line up again) but for future reference we could use some help.
Sigh.  Now I have to go help her.  I feel so bad for her and I pretty much want to chuck the freaking computer through Apple's living room window right now.

    Sorry for your frustration.
Here are two tips that may help in the future.
To save a version, use FILE/DUPLICATE PROJECT http://help.apple.com/imovie/#mov3a61c0ec
You might also consider using Time Machine backups.

  • How can I save "animation frames" so they play in email?

I have created "animated frames" in PhotoShop CS3 Design Standard on Mac OS Leopard. The saved .gif works fine when dragged into an Internet browser for review (i.e. Mozilla Firefox). However, when I attach the "animated" .gif to an email...nothin'. No animation. When I email the animated .gif to myself, the animation does not play. However, I do see animated .gifs in emails that I receive, so it's not a browser setting...either PhotoShop doesn't do what I need, or more likely, I don't know how to do it.
Has anyone tried this and can someone can tell me if PhotoShop animated frames can be used in email (as well as for the Internet). And if they can, what are the steps to make it work for email.
    Thanks,
    Craig

As far as I know there was a rather capricious decision made by Apple to not let animated GIFs play in Mail.app. Admittedly some people have a tremendous dislike for them but as an occasional GIF maker I'd enjoy being able to view animations in Mail.app. In Tiger I was able to send animations from Windows and sometimes have them animate in Mail but not Leopard's version of Mail.app.
Although it has never done any good yet (I've been sending in requests for animated GIFs since Panther) it can't hurt to put in a request at...
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html
For a while I was using Thunderbird because it allows you to view animations and it's cross platform but I'm a Dot Mac member (now MobileMe) and Mail is needed to work properly with the sync functions.

  • How do I save a file in iMovie 10.0.2?

Surely I don't hit the 'share' button to share with my hard drive?
    That would be pretty stupid.

    redozboy,
There is a forum for iMovie, you may want to repost there.

  • IMovie crashed, lost project. How do you SAVE in iMovie? Where's the file?

Just spent 4-5 hours building a complicated movie from a year's worth of footage. At some point, iMovie crashed. I think I lost all those hours of creative decision making, since I cannot see the file when I reopen iMovie.
There is no "open" command in the file menu. There is no "save" command in the file menu.
This would imply that Apple was autosaving for me to save me trouble. Hmm. I can save in almost every program I use, and revert, and save versions.
How do you save a project in iMovie? I don't see save in the file menu, as has been the steadfast tradition of Apple applications since I purchased my first Mac in 1984. What in the blazes have you done with SAVE? It is so basic.
Along the same line, where is the project file located on my hard drive? I would like to open it. Since I assume you have been autosaving to somewhere, could you please let me know where my file is saved.
    <Edited by Host>

This just appeared to happen to me too.  I tried clicking on the file in Movies/iMovie Projects.  That didn't work.
Then, I made a copy of the  file in a safe place.  I noticed it was 2.2 MB, so something had to be in there.  Next, I started iMovie and clicked the Project Library arrow.  The project was listed there.  I opened it and got back most but not all of the work.  It lost a lot of my audio changes.  Here's the thing.  I worked until about midnight, and then left iMovie up and running til noon.  You would think it would have autosaved the changes by the time I came back.  I suggest making your own copy of the file now and then, just in case.

  • How do you save an iMovie video to DVD

How do I save a movie in iMovie on my daughter's iPad and then turn it into a DVD or a file she can share at school with her teachers?

There are two different iMovies. there's the app you can download to your iPad and there's the program that would run on your mac. Given that most apps are skinnied down versions of their original programs it's very likely that while the computer program iMovie has DVD output, the App version does not. (all the iPad's file management is based around using the internet to access and transfer files)
And since they both have the same name, it can be very easy to get them confused or read about one and think it applies to the other.
    iMovie for iOS
There is a part of the forum for iMovie on your iPad
    iMovie for Mac
And here's the part for iMovie for Mac.
There should be more specific assistance there.
If you don't have a mac or iMovie on your computer most CD/DVD burning programs have an ability to convert and burn files onto a DVD, either as data or as a video disc viewable in a DVD player. Roxio is one example or such software.

  • Can I copy one frame of a movie using iMove and save the frame as a file that can be printed like a picture?

Can I copy one frame of a movie using iMovie and save the frame as a file that can be printed like a picture?  If so, how do I do that?

You could if you want a postcard sized print.
Printers need a lot more "dots" per inch and even a 1920X1080 video doesn't have enough "dots" to make more than a postcard.
Look at the "More Like This" links at the right side of this page for instructions.
