How do I save a PDF as v1.4 in Acrobat Pro?

Hello,
I am currently using the Adobe Acrobat X Pro. I am being sent documents that I must change to v1.4.
So far I have been sent v1.3, v1.5, v1.6, v 1.7.
I MUST change the versions of the PDFs provided to v1.4 because I then send the documents to someone else who uses software that ONLY accepts v1.4 PDFs.
Please tell me how to do this in Adobe Acrobat X Pro. If it CANNOT be done in X Pro, what software do I need to do this?
One of the people sending me files has asked how do do this in Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro also. Are the directions the same in both versions?
Thanks for your help!

Thanks George,
Just wanted to add that in Adobe X, select Save As > Optimized PDF > Make compatible with  gets you to a drop down list where you can choose the version of Acrobat you need. In this case Acrobat 5.0 and later.

  • How do I get the PDF Convert feature of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.4, which makes a PDF of a web page interactive, to work in Firefox 4.0.1?

I just installed (on my Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) operating system/Intel i5 CPU M560 2.67 GHz) and am now using as my default browser Firefox 4.0.1 because Internet Explorer 9 was giving me so much trouble--lack of display of web content, lack of PDF reproduction when web content displayed, screwball formatting display, etc., all of which has been remedied by the mere installation of Firefox 4.0.1.
How do I get the PDF Convert feature of Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9.4.4, which converts a web page to an interactive PDF, to set up and work on Firefox 4.0.1?

You can not do that using Adobe Acrobat 9. Adobe never made a create PDF add-on for Firefox for use with Adobe Acrobat 9. They created a Firefox add-on for use with Acrobat X, but currently that one does not work with Firefox 4 though Adobe are working on an update.

  • How can I save to PDF version 1.3 in Acrobat X

I have tried the Save As > Reduce Size and it only goes back to version 1.6 using the Acrobat 4.0 selection. That is the earliest selection available through the menu.  Is there another way that I am not seeing?

The only 2 ways is using Reduce File Size and Optimize PDF, both available on the Save As menu.

  • How do you save a pdf to Adobe Document Cloud from within Acrobat Pro DC?

I have a full Creative Cloud account so I now have the updated Acrobat Pro DC for both my pc and my iPhone.
On my iPhone, when I opened a pdf I was given the option to save the file to Document Cloud. But on the PC, how do I open this file or others on Document Cloud, and how do I save a file to Document Cloud?
    Thanks,
    Rob

These are the screens that I am presented with when trying to save or open a file in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. I am logged in with my account and have mobile sharing activated on my iOS app.
    OS: Windows 7 64-bit.

  • How can I save a PDF file sent to me in an attachment to my iPhone 5s

How can I save a PDF file or word file sent to me as an attachment directly to my iPhone 5s so if I want to read it I don't have to dig into my ail every time?

You will need to select the attachment and open in another app.  If you do not have any apps that support PDF, Adobe reader for iOS is free.
For MS word files, you will need an app that supports those, like Documents to Go.
There is not generic file storage area in iOS, so you need to "open in" an app that supports that file type so that app can then add the file to its sandboxed local storage area.
If you need to markup the PDF, some good apps are GoodReader, iAnnotate, PDF Expert, GoodNotes - there are numerous others as well in the App Store.

The same way you save ANY email attachment... which is going to depend on the email program you use... so check with support for your email program (or the help file to learn how to save an attachment)
When you OPEN a PDF attachment, what program are you using... Acrobat or Reader... both have options to save files

Hey David, add some security to it. You can even keep people from printing it if you want to, or even need a password to open it.

How do I save a PDF as an excel file when the PDF is horizontal. Adobe tries to rotate the page, but the data is entered in an  horizontal format.

Thanks for the quick reply.  I figured out how to get the desired results by using tagging.  For anyone who may reference this post in the future, I went to "Customize" in the top right corner of Adobe, then selected "Create new tool set...", looked under "accessiblity and found the "tag" option.  Hit ok, tag is added to the toolbar.  Then I highlighted the dataset in the PDF that was relevant to the output format, then clicked "tag", saved as spreadsheet.  Sorry I can't provide more details on how tagging works or if there's a more elegant solution available, but I'm sure one's out there.

How do I SAVE a PDF (received as an attachment) directly to my iPhone 4S?

If you view the attachment in the mail program, and click and hold somewhere on the pdf (I usually use the top right, don't know if it works in other places), you will get an open in button appear. If you then choose to open the pdf in Reader, it will be saved with all the Reader documents.

  • How do I save as PDF/A, PDF/A-1b in Acrobat XI Strandard?

How do I save as PDF/A, PDF/A-1b compliant in Acrobat XI Strandard?  I want to archive some of my PDF files.  I want them to meet generally used archived standards.  My install of ACrobat Standard was a standard install.  Is this something I can only do in Acrobat XI Pro?  I also came across some articles mentioning something called a Distiller, of which I think it is only available for the Acrobat Pro?

The support for each type of ISO PDF standard is explained in the Help file.
Only Acrobat Pro can create and verify PDF/A-2, PDF/A-3, PDF/X, PDF/E and PDF/VT files, or convert an existing PDF into a compliant version (a process called 'conforming' the file). Generating a new PDF/A-1b file (e.g. from a scanner or by printing from another application) is universal, but you can only verify it meets the standard using Pro.

    fats vee,
Please take a look at my replies and screenshots in the following forum post to transfer a PDF email attachment from the Gmail app for iOS to Adobe Reader for iOS.
How do I save a PDF attachment from Gmail to Adobe reader?
As I mentioned in the forum post, it requires many extra steps to transfer a PDF document from the Gmail app.  This is because the Gmail app for iOS does not support "Open In..." as many other iOS apps do.
