How do i save a slideshow to a dvd

how do i save a slide show to a dvd

Export the slideshow from Aperture, that makes a movie of it. If you just want a file on a disk: burn that with the Finder's Burn command
Do you want to use this DVD in a domestic DVD player? If so, then the disk will have to be 'authored' to make it the correct form for that. If you have iDVD then that's the app you use. However, iDVD is no longer developed or distributed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk.
Other options:
Burn: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn
Toast: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/6351/toast-titanium
But there are lots of others too. Search on the App Store or MacUpdate

afaik, no, iMovie also relies on iDVD to do the actually burning to DVD.
If you are looking for free software to do that, have a look at "SimplyBurns".            SimplyBurns rev416
I never tried it, since I have iDVD installed as part of the iLife Package, so I cannot vouch for it.

Ask in the iDVD forum on what's the best way out of iPhoto and into iDVD.  The resident expert there, Bengt Wärleby, can give you the best option.

  • How can I copy my slideshow to a dvd?

How can I copy my slideshow on a dvd?

There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:
    http://www.lqgraphics.com/software/phototomovie.php
(Other users here use the alternative FotoMagico:  http://www.boinx.com/fotomagico/homevspro/ which you may prefer - I have no experience with it.)
Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie  as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast,  for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!
To simply create a slide show in iDVD 7 onwards from images in iPhoto or stored in other places on your hard disk or a connected server, look here:

  • How do I save a slideshow made in iDVD to a different video format.

How can I convert a slideshow made in iDVD to one of these video formats: 3g2, 3gp, 3gp2, 3gpp, 3p, asf, avi, divx, dv, dvx, flv, moov, mov, mp4, mpeg4, mpg4, mpe, mpeg, mpg, qt, wmv, xvid so I can download into photobucket.
    Thanks!

Did you start your slideshow in iMovie? I do....from there I send it to iDVD, but if I want to do something else with it, before I send it to iDVD, I simply export it from iMovie. That creates a .mov.
If you have the Video TS folder that is on a DVD, Streamclip can extract it. Another option is to use Quicktime Pro to convert your .mov to whatever.....if you want WMV, use the studio version of Flip4Mac.

  • How can I save a slideshow if I created it using iPhoto on my iPhone?

I have an iPhone 4 (no Mac) and was playing around with the iPhoto app and created a slideshow that I want to export and use as part of my wedding reception. However, I can't seem to find an option to export or save the slideshow on my iPhone... am I missing something here?

This does not involve iphoto for the Mac (the subject of this forum) I will request that it be moved to the iPhoto for IOS forum for you

  • How can I burn a slideshow to a DVD from with in iPhoro?

I have several slideshows that I spent a long time working on on a old drive that I don't use. How can I bring the slideshows across in tact so that I don't have to spend a huge amount of time organizing the photos again and, even worse, having to redo all the manual Ken Burn's effects so that zoom right from one part of the photo to the other part.
I suppose I could send the slideshow to iDVD but I don't think I would then be able to import it into iPhoto.

Yes. To get a larger, widescreen, QT movie you will have to use iMovie. I recommend you useiMovie HD 6 as it's much better for adding music, etc.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • How do you save an iMovie video to DVD

How do I save a movie in iMovie on my daughter's iPad and then turn it into a DVD or a file she can share at school with her teachers?

There are two different iMovies. there's the app you can download to your iPad and there's the program that would run on your mac. Given that most apps are skinnied down versions of their original programs it's very likely that while the computer program iMovie has DVD output, the App version does not. (all the iPad's file management is based around using the internet to access and transfer files)
And since they both have the same name, it can be very easy to get them confused or read about one and think it applies to the other.
    iMovie for iOS
There is a part of the forum for iMovie on your iPad
    iMovie for Mac
And here's the part for iMovie for Mac.
There should be more specific assistance there.
If you don't have a mac or iMovie on your computer most CD/DVD burning programs have an ability to convert and burn files onto a DVD, either as data or as a video disc viewable in a DVD player. Roxio is one example or such software.

  • How do I save an iMovie onto a dvd?

I am trying to save an imovie onto a dvd to play at a later date. I have tried Burn and it doesn't let me highlight the project in imovies and ilife or idvd is not for sale in the app store. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

You need to export the movie first before it can be used in a DVD authoring program (such as Burn or iDVD).
With your project open go to iMovie's menu and select File > Share > File. This will produce a file in H.264 format which will be suitable for burning and for playback on DVD players.
I'm assuming that you are using iMovie 10 (the latest 2013 version). If not, a similar method applies to iMovie '11 and earlier versions. Please post back if you need further instructions about this.

  • How to Export an Aperture Slideshow to a DVD?

I am using Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and Aperture 3.2.2 on an iMac.
I have followed the procedure set out in the Manual by selecting "Export" and choosing "Export for HD1080p" and then burning the exported slideshow to a DVD-R but neither my DVD player nor Apple's DVD Player software recognise the resultiing disk.  I can successfully create a slideshow in iDVD and burn it to a DVD which will play on both platforms but I understand that iDVD is being or has been discontinued so that option will soon be unavailable.
What am I doing wrong?  Help!

Thanks again, leonie.  I will certainly continue to use iDVD as long as I can.  But the people at the Apple Store warn me that future upgrades to the operating syatem may not support iDVD.  I guess I'li cross that bridge when I come to it.
    Have a great day,
    Robin.

  • How do I save a slideshow (iphoto 09) and share it for use in a dvd

I created a slideshow in iphoto 09 and want to save it and then share it with another person who will be adding it to a dvd with movies. I originally created the slideshow and then sent it to idvd and then saved it as an .img file but the file could not be imported so I was looking for an option of simply saving my slideshow and sharing it but I can't find a way to do so.
    Thanks

Actually you should have selected the 640 x 480 size or 720 x 540 size as iDVD will reduce what ever you choose to the 640 x 480 size as that's the default DVD size.
Also try using the Share ➙ DVD menu option which does all of the work for you and import the resulting QT movie file of the slideshow into the iDVD menu.
Once you have the iDVD project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • How do I burn imovie slideshow to a DVD??

I created a slide show in imovie. 77 slides, transitions and music. This is my first creation in imovie. How do I get it onto a DVD which will play on my TV?
I went to the burn project, says that won't play, looks like I have to send it to idvd, but I don't want to drop it into one of their backgrounds.
I have looked in all my books, but they don't seem to make sense to me. Can someone give me instructions geared toward a 3rd grader??? I think that is my level.
    Thanks!
    Colleen

    Colleen,
To create a DVD playable on a TV set you will have to use iDVD. If you don't want to see any menus, export your slideshow as DV video from iMovie.
Then use that DV format movie in this procedure: http://homepage.mac.com/profpixel/AutostartDVD/autostart.htm that I put together a couple of months ago as a result of requests in the iDVD forum.

  • How do I save a Movie to a dvd in imovie 10.0.6

I have produced a movie from a group of video clips in imovie 10.0.6 on my macbook pro using osx 10.10.1.
This is where it ends. I cannot share it with a file to burn it to a disk. Further I cannot drag and drop this "movie" into an app, because it breaks it up into original clips.
Please help as I have spent a lot of time on this to go no further.

    Hello roxayne,
It sounds like you have completed the project and now need to get it burned to a dvd with a 3rd party app. You should be able to open the project and share it as a Quicktime file with these steps from the iMovie help site:
Export a QuickTime file - iMovie Help
Select a movie, trailer, or clip in the browser.
Click the Share button in the toolbar, and then click File.
In the dialog that appears, do any of the following:
To set the title of the shared movie: Click the name at the top, and type a new name.
To set the description of the shared movie: Click in the Description field, and type new text.
To set the output format of the shared movie: Choose an option from the Format pop-up menu.
You can choose to export video and audio, or just audio.
To set tags for the shared movie: Click in the Tags field, and type tag names separated by commas.
To set the resolution of the shared movie: Choose an option from the Resolution pop-up menu.
    Unavailable resolutions appear dimmed.
Tip: You can export a 4K clip in its native resolution by selecting a 4K clip in the browser.
To set the output quality of the shared movie: Choose an option from the Quality pop-up menu.
To manually set the output quality of the shared movie, choose Custom from the Quality pop-up menu, and drag the slider to set the target bit rate.
As you drag the slider, the estimated file size that appears below the preview thumbnail is updated.
To add your movie to the Theater: Select the Add to Theater checkbox.
    Click Next.
In the dialog that appears, type a name in the Save As field, or leave the default name, which is the name of the movie, trailer, or clip.
Navigate to the location where you want to save the file, and click Save.
A progress indicator appears on the right side of the toolbar. Click the progress indicator to see details. The indicator disappears when the operation has finished.
After the share process is complete, the movie opens in QuickTime Player. A “Share Successful” notification also appears.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling
