How do I save an iPhoto book in progress for editing over a period of days

It is automatic - you just go ahead and come back when ever
And your regular backup will capture everything when it backs up your iPhoto library

  • Can iPhoto books be shared for editing by others with iPhoto?

Working on a project with a client who would like to handle future edits of their photo book on their own. Can iPhoto books be shared for editing by others with iPhoto?

How do I share the library and book with them?
Copy the library to a thumbs drive and give them the thumbs drive.
The drive needs to be formatted MAcOS Extended (Journaled), with the Ignore Ownership flag enabled.
See this link:  iPhoto: Sharing libraries among multiple users
The clients will need to use the same iPhoto version as you are using.

How do you save an iphoto book project. I am not done with my project and would like to finish it later. I am afraid to close iphoto and turn off my computer because I don't know how to save it.
    Many thanks!!!

It saves automatically - just quit iPhoto normally (file menu ==> quit)

  • How can i transfer a iphoto book created on one mac to another mac.

how can i transfer an iphoto book created on one mac to another mac. i am aware of pdf saving but it doesn't help! need to see the iphoto book on other mac.
and how can i view in slide-show double pages instead of single pages?
    anybody has an idea?

    Stephan:
If you want to be able to view the book with iPhoto on the other Mac you'll have to copy the library containing the book to the other Mac. You won't be able to import that book into the other library.
Make a duplicate copy of the library containing the book and rename the folder "Book Library". Open it with iPhoto and delete all of the files that are not in the book. Then copy the Book Library folder to the other Mac and open. You can also burn the Book Library folder to a CD as a way to archive the book in case you decide to order another copy at a later date. I create a separate library for each book I create and order and archive it to CD when I've ordered.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How do I save an iPhoto slideshow on my macbook air externally?

I have a macbook air (no CD slot) and am unsure how i can save an iPhoto slideshow externally from my mac.
In the past (on my packard bell laptop) I have always burned photos to a dvd and feel comfort knowing I have the pics externally  if anything should happen to the laptop.
I am still within my 14 day money back for the mac and am unsure whether i should change it for a macbook pro which has a cd slot.
Anybody any ideas how I can solve my problem and keep my macbook air?
Also, does my iPhoto slideshow stay in the iCloud?  Not sure how iCloud works.
    Thanks in advance.

Get yourself an external Hard Drive - USB, Thunderbolt, whatever your machine has ports for - and make back ups to that. DVD and other optical media is going the way of the floppy disk and in 5 years time you'll find it hard to get any machine with a built-in optical drive.
Once you get the drive make sure it's formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - you do this with Disk Utility
    Most Simple Back Up:
Drag the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to another Disk. This will make a copy on that disk.
Slightly more complex: Use an app that will do incremental back ups. This is a very good way to work. The first time you run the back up the app will make a complete copy of the Library. Thereafter it will update the back up with the changes you have made. That makes subsequent back ups much faster. Many of these apps also have scheduling capabilities: So set it up and it will do the back up automatically.
Example of such apps: Chronosync - but there are many others. Search on MacUpdate or the App Store
You can also export the slideshow - File -> Export -  this process makes a movie of it.

  • How do I save an IPhoto library onto a new hard drive while it's open? It is a miracle I got it open, and it has refused to be copied the usual way (by dragging its icon to destination drive).  i want to save those photos!

How do I save an IPhoto library onto a new hard drive while library is open? It is a miracle I got it open, and it has refused to be copied the usual way (by dragging its icon to destination drive).  i want to save those photos!

My external Lacie Hard drive that contains the IPhoto library is a "locked volume."  Wow, now it is suddenly letting me copy it. I dragged the library's icon to the new destination (a 3T hard drive) and it is working so far.
I have also had problems copying my IMovie events from this drive, whose data I'm trying to save.  It reaches a certain video and stops.  I will delete that video and try again.

  • How do i recover a iphoto book i was making that suddenly disappeared

how do i recover a iphoto book i was making that suddenly disappeared

With the amount of information you've provided it's impossible to offer a solution.  We can't see your computer so we need to know the details of your problem and setup, i.e.:
what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what do you mean by suddenly disappeared? Did you have an iPhoto crash?  Did the book disappear while you were working on it? Describe what you were doing when it disappeared.
    what fixes have you tried?
    where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
    what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?

  • Re user tip: How can I import a homemade DVD into iMovie for editing? - I've followed instructions so far so good, until I get to "You can then FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME and choose Apple Intermediate Codec as your video codec. "  How do I do that?

Re AppleMan 1958 excellent user tip: How can I import a homemade DVD into iMovie for editing? -
I've followed instructions with success until  "You can then FILE/EXPORT USING QUICKTIME and choose Apple Intermediate Codec as your video codec. "  How do I do that?
I installed MGEG Streamclip 193b8 and used their utility to install quicktimempeg2 and got a message stating it was successfully installed.  (I'm on latest Maverick 10.9.2 on iMac)  Then I dragged the VIDEO_TS file from my home DVD into the streamclip app.  It asked which of 4 files to use, and I selected the first one.  Streamclip played the video with the sound.  so far so good. but now I cannot figure how to use quicktime player 10.3 to export this vob file out of streamclip.

Thank you for your quick reply and for clearing up my confusion.  I'm exporting the first section now.  I choose the smallest size, 3x4 but I'd prefer to go higher as this DVD was originally a VHS home movie.  I'm wondering if after three conversions (VHS,->DVD->MPEG) the resolution will be so poor as to not support a larger size frame?  If it can, what size should I select when I export?

  • Hi.  How do you save the iPhoto album as you are making it?

How do I save the photo album I making on iphoto as I am making it?

How do I save the photo album I making on iphoto as I am making it?
Saving in what way? iPhoto has a database architecture - all changes you make to library items are immediate - no saving needed. Only do not forget to make regular backups of your iPhoto Library..
Or are you asking, how to create a pdf-copy of your book for future reference?
Then select your book in the source list and use the command "File > Print" to print a copy of your book to PDF - press the "PDF" button in the lower left part of the "Print" panel.

  • How do I save in iPhoto?

I have made some changes to a photo in iPhoto. How do I save them?

Just click Done in whatever Edit mode pane you're in if it has that button
or go to the next photo (arrows at the top right) or go back to the Event, click on the Event title in the upper left corner of the edit window.  It's pretty much automatic. When you go back to the edit mode using the Shift key will toggle the image between the original and edited version.

  • How do I save a Mac book on a PC?

I bought a Mac-formatted book from the iTunes Store, installed Windows 8.1 Note, converted and opened the book.  How do I save the book in my directory for easy access?  I don't want to have to go back into iTunes, find it, convert it, and open it every time I want to read a chapter.

    DJ,
If you are referring to an iBook that was purchased from the iTunes Store, it can only be read on an iOS device (iPhone, iPad) or on a Mac running Mavericks.  There is no way to read it on a PC.

  • How do I save my iPhoto program and/or my iPhoto photos

I have a LaCie external hard drive which I use for backing up.
I have not yet figured out how to use Back Up but I do plan to (and it gets pushed away all the time).
QUESTION FOR MANUALLY BACKING UP (until I figure out BackUp):
How do I save all of my iPhoto photos? What thing do I look for to drag to the LaCie icon? The iPhoto Library? What?
FURTHER: How do I save the ENTIRE iPhoto program for just in case? (I have the room/memory for it.) Ideally I would like to be able to save the entire program and then add new photos to it as I get those new photos. Do I just drag the iPhoto icon from my Applicatons file to my external La Cie hard drive/disk?
    Thank you.

If all you want is a backup copy of your iPhoto
application, control+click on iPhoto in the
Applications folder and select "Create an archive of
...". Drag the resulting archive to your external
drive (I'm not sure why you need to do it, but that
will get it done). Once transferred, you can then
delete the redundant copy of the archive from the
    Applications folder.
Dear Brie Fly — Wow! I just now finished doing as you described. It took several minutes but that was the WHOLE iPhoto program. It says that it is a Zip Archive. I clicked onto it in my LaCie external hard drive and it began opening up............ and I decided to stop it from opening up for the time being.
    Question remains:
As I add more photos to my iPhoto program on my iMac hard drive, can Backup add the new photos into the whole archived iPhoto program that I just dragged onto my La Cie external hard drive/disk? For Backup to do so, does the iPhoto program have to be "unzipped"? Or what?
And thank you for such a helpful reply.
