How do i save emails so i Can fee up space ?

I would like to save my emails to an external Hard Drive so i can fee up space i have around 15-20Gb of mails with photo Attachments but in the future i may wish to read the emails again can this be done look forward to your answers.Regards.Martin

Hi Martin,
It'll be difficult to do so & then have them viewable too, but they can be zipped up & moved for archival purposes.
Do you have any big Movie sized files that'd be easier to deal with? One DVD could be 4-8 GB.
How much free space is on the HD, where has all the space gone?
OmniDiskSweeper is likely the easiest/best, and is now free...

And if needed, you can use Terminal to run it in admin mode to see files/folders your user can't see...

How do I save emails in a specific folder in my Documents, NOT in the email account folders.
    Thx,
    Beginner

Open the email, do a save as have it save to the location you want from the drop down menu (You could select desktop and then drag it into a folder in documents) and click save as a .rtf.
Or you can copy and paste into a document (Word, Pages, Text Edit...) Make a folder and put it in docs.

  • When you build an optic flare, how do you save it so you can use it in other projects .

I built an optic flare in After Effects and I would like to use it in other projects. How do I save it so I can use it in other projects? and duplicate it.
    Thanks!

Duplicate the AE project with the flare & rename it.  Open the renamed project and delete EVERYTHING that isn't associated with the flare.  Keep the comp and any nested comps you need to make it work.  Other comps, extraneous footage and solids can go.
    Now save it again.
When you want it, import the renamed project into a new project.

  • How do I save music tin order to add storage space to my Ipod?

How do I save music in order to add storage space to my Ipod?

"if backed up the music on a Mac could I then re-load the tracks from it once the ipod has been formatted for Windows?"
Yes you could, Macs can read Windows formatted iPods. If you only have the songs on the iPod, and have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. A paragraph on it has been added to this article: Transfer iTunes Store purchases using iPod
The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac. The procedure is a bit involved but if you're interested it's available at this link: Two-way Street: Moving Music Off the iPod
If you prefer something more automated there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. You can also read reviews of some of them here: Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes

  • How do I save emails in folders on my iPad

How do I create folders to save emails and attachments in my iPad 2.  What I use briefcases and folders for on my pc.

If you are on iOS 5 on the iPad and it's an IMAP type account then you should get an Edit button at the top of the list of folders that you currently have on your email account. If you are on iOS 4 or if it's a POP type account then you won't get the Edit button.
Attachments can't be saved separately in the Mail app, then need to be still attached to the email. If you have an app on the iPad that supports the type of attachment then you might be able to use the iPad's 'open in' function (press and hold the attachment) to copy the attachment to that app.

  • How to automatically "save" email when viewed?

I'm migrating to Mail after 14+years on AOL where they had a preference to "save email that I read" to an incoming/saved mail folder. Is there a way to do this in Mail automatically so when I open an email to read it, it's automatically saved in an incoming/saved mail folder? I want to MOVE (not copy) every message to a different folder once it's read, for archiving purposes, sort of like a personal diary/journal/blog, as I do a lot of "chatting" in email that documents my life and that of my children.

Let me explain how I tackle this and maybe, if you like it, you can do the same.
I hold several mailboxes on my Mac each has its own rule. Apart from that I have a smart mailbox which only holds my unread mails. When my emails arrive I always read them from my smart mailbox and deleting them if I want. If I want to retrieve them I go to the desired mailbox on my Mac.
I hope this will solve your problem,
ok, that sounds like it might work--but how do I get the emails into the 'on my mac' folder since I can't find a "if mail is read/unread" condition in the rules?
    thanks!

I'm not a Mac user, that's my caveat, however there is a button on the ribbon for SharePoint Document Libraries on the Library Tab called Connect To Office.
If that works with Office 2011 you'll start seeing your SharePoint site as a place where you can store documents in Office.
Otherwise, you need to click "New" in teh library itself and have SharePoint open Office for you.

  • How do I save data so it can be imported??

    Hello, everyone.
On my WP website, I 'export' data, and it comes up as simple text in a new browser window, which I simply copy and paste to save it. No problem so far.
    1) However, I have to save it as an .rtf file, which is not recognized by Numbers.
If I drag the file into a new sheet, then it won't position all the data into the corresponding columns and stuff, but put it all into a one single column.
    2) I try to "rename" this .rtf file, and simply change the extension to .csv, but once I do this, some weird code is added at the beginning of the file, which consequently messes up the import process.
So, my question is: how do I save this raw/simple data into a file that can be imported into Numbers???

Numbers imports comma separated value (csv) files. It separates the data into columns based on the location of the commas and into rows when it hits a line break.
You can drag a tab separated value file to a cell in a Numbers table. It will separate the data into columns based on the location of the tabs and into rows based on line breaks.
You cannot simply change the extension to turn a rtf document into a csv document. You can open the rtf in TextEdit, change it to plain text, then save it as a plain text file with a csv extension but that won't necessarily make it a csv unless the data isn't separated by commas. It will, however, get rid of all the formatting code from the rtf document.
Without knowing what is in your file and whether the data is separated by commas, spaces, or tabs, it's hard to tell you what to do. It may require a find/replace in a text editor or via an Applescript to separate your data by the correct character type. Yvan has posted at least one script for this purpose. Because it sounds like you import files of this type on a regular basis, if you do need to change the separating character, I'd go with an Applescript.
