How do I "save Flash Player download to disk??"

I keep getting this error message when I try to download the new version of Adobe Flash Player...
/Users/andrewnorelli1/Downloads/install_flash_player_osx_ub-9.dmg could not be opened, because an unknown error occurred.
Try saving to disk first and then opening the file.
I'm on a Mac, OSX 10.5.8, using Firefox as my browser.

That sounds like an old version; try to download and run the Mac uninstaller http://fpdownload.macromedia.com/get/flashplayer/current/uninstall_flash_player_osx.dmg, then download the newest installer from http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/fp_distribution3.html

You can't. Apple never enabled Flash Player for the iPad and never will. Adobe has stopped distributing Flash Player for mobile devices.

  • How do I get flash player download to finish??

Windows 7 64bit starts installation, never leaves step 2 of 3. I have tried online and hard drive installation, same results.

That's helpful, thanks!  I checked a couple of applications, and it works nicely.  However, I still can't see vids on 4shared.com, like this one:

Any ideas?  (I've contacted 4shared.com, and they suggested using a different version of Adobe Flash, which I now have done, but I still can't watch the vids there).
    Thanks.

Via Javascripting. Look for Flash detection kits at the
    Adobe/Maromedia web
site and also at Internet search engines.
As well this forum focuses on database access issues and you
    might find more
takers for this type of question in the Flash General forum.

  • How to get past the Flash Player Download screen when a newer version is already installed?

Does anyone know how I can get past the Flash Player Download? I already have a newer version then what is trying to load. Therefore, I get a screen telling me the same, but I still can't access the files I need. It is a vicious loop I'm stuck in. Can anyone help me?

    Hi..
Are you running Lion v10.7 by chance even though your profile indicates v10.6.8   ??
I ask because you can only reinstall apps using Lion Recovery
Much better to ask for help with Safari here before trying to delete the app and reinstall.
Is the Safari app still in the Trash by chance?

i have Mac OS X 10.4.11 with 600 mhz PowerPC G3 how do i get Flash Player 10.3.183.20 (65.7 MB) power pc processor?

Flash Player version 10.1.102.64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users. However, this Flash version won't work for many videos on Facebook, YouTube and other sites. Adobe's latest version, 10.2.x or later, is only for Intel Macs. Adobe will not provide a newer Flash version for PPC Macs.
The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to Flash Player requiring an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I found a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Scam Flash Player Download Site

Apologies in advance if this is posted to the wrong forum.
Looking down the list, I couldn't find one that seemed more relevant.
There is a scam Flash Player download site at:
    flashplayer.10-downloadcenter.com/
Typing "flash," "flash player," "flash player 10," and other obvious search terms into Google brings the site up at the top of the page.
It is using graphics that look very much like Adobe's trademarks which can lead people to believe the site is connected with Adobe.  They are also using phrases such as "Flash Player 10" that would appear to be Adobe trademarks.  The first time I looked at the site, I thought I was at an Adobe page because the trademark appeared to be there, and there was no notice that an Adobe trademark was being used - something one almost always sees at sites where a trademark in use is not owned by the site. If I were Adobe, I'd have my magnifying glass going over that site, looking for infringement.  (Who knows - maybe they've already looked ... )
There is a lot of stuff on the page that could lead one to believe they are Adobe, offering enhanced software and services.  And - bingo - selling is what they are doing.  Get out your credit card to download their stuff - including Flash Player 9.
The trick, when reading the fine print, is that they are selling "memberships."  I wonder how many people have downloaded Flash Player from this site, believing they are buying it directly from Adobe.  My niece did.  She's trying to get the charge removed from her credit card as I type this message.

Further information regarding suspicious actions of this site.
The site had been asked to cancel the transaction within two hours of it taking place.  Some of the charges involved extra "premium" software sold along with the "Flash Player 10" download.  An extra ~$10 for software that would supposedly increase download speeds greatly.  The software all turned out to be PC only, with no mention of there being no Mac version, and no place to check.  The site indicated that Flash Player 10 would be downloaded, but all that was available was Flash Player 9 - which was probably already on the machine.  One also has to wonder whether their versions don't have zombie payloads.
An archive of the the purchase confirmation page was fortunately kept to save the confirmation numbers and other information.  Among the information on the page was the way the charge would appear on the charge card.  Checking the card company's invoice, no charge by that name existed.  But there was a charge with a completely different label for about the right amount.  Calling the (866) number got us to a phone center in India.  Sure enough, the mis-labeled charge was the charge in question. The customer service person said that the amount will be refunded within 7 days.  We'll see.
Note that an immediate request for cancellation had been made, so the charge shouldn't even have appeared.  The site boasts a 7-day money-back guarantee.
I hope that someone, somewhere, will look into this site.  I was looking for some kind of complaint link at Google, but haven't found one yet.  The site appears not only in the search results, but they run an ad at the top of the Google search page - very visible.
Once again, I hope Adobe will take a look at this highly questionable site.

  • How Do I Stop Flash Player From Storing Cache?

    Windows XP SP3
Latest Flash Player (i just upgraded it to the latest as of today)
There are a couple of directories on my HDD that appear to be the place where Flash stores cache.
    One of them is (#1):
    c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Adobe\Flash Player\AssetCache\
    The other is (#2):
    c:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\#sharedobjects
These directories were so bloated with subdirectories that it literally took about 12 HOURS OR MORE to delete everything in them!  I'm not kidding.
There must have been 100,000 subfolders or maybe even more in these folders.  They were choking everything on my computer that had to read past them.
I FINALLY was able to delete everything from them after hours of work.
Now I want to keep them empty, so this doesn't happen again but I can't find out how to do that.  It is so dang frustrating.  I looked and looked for a way to shut this storage off.
I finally found the online "Settings Manager" and thought I FINALLY solved the problem after setting the "Global Storage" setting to "Never" and unchecking the "Allow third party Flash content to be stored on your computer" and "Store common Flash components to reduce download times" boxes.
    BUT NO!!!
It didn't do a thing.  I looked at those two folders again and they are still being filled up with new subfolders!!!!
    UUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
How do I keep Flash Player from storing this unwanted mess on my computer?!
    Thank you for ANY HELP!

    PS:
Before I set the global settings as I stated above, I DELETED all the "Websites already visited" from the list in Settings Manager so that ALL Websites would be set according to the global settings.
But none of that did a thing to stop the new folders from being created anyway.  How do I stop them??!!!

  • How do I install flash player from the home screen?

I am operating Mac OSX.  I have flash player version 16.0.0.  I can't play any videos because my flash player is out of date.  I download the latest flash player and when I go to install it, it takes me here www.adobe.com.  There is no "Install flash player" prompt like there used to be.  There is a "Download Creative Cloud" prompt for a fee.  I go to the menu and there is no install flash player prompt.  I go to Adobe Flash Player in the lower right hand corner and it prompts me to download the flash player again but not to install it and then I end up right back to the Adobe home screen again where there is no install flash player prompt.  I search "install flash player" and it takes me to a prompt to download the flash player again which of course brings me back to the home screen where again, there is no install now prompt.  I've been at this for days, extremely frustrated.  How do I install flash player?

    Hi Alicia,
If the browser is opening when you attempt to mount the DMG image, then somehow, the browser has been set as the default program to open DMG files.  You'll need to change this association for the DiskImageMounter.app file to be the default program to open the DMG file.  Please do the following:
Select the installer DMG file and CTRL-click on the DMG file.If DiskImageMounter.app is available, select that and skip to step 4 below
From the menu, select Open With > and then select Other...to open Finder
In Finder, navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices, look for DiskImageMounter.app and select it
At the bottom center of the Finder window, put a check in the box next to Always Open With
Click Open in the bottom right of the Finder window
This will mount the DMG file revealing the installer app.
Double-click the installer app (Install Adobe Flash Player.app) to launch the installer dialog window.
Follow prompts to install Flash Player

    Hi Guys,
Do you know how to install adobe flash player through command line with some script?
    Thanks,

Windows. I tried silent install  with "install_flash_player.exe /install" but it works only with one file that I downloaded from adobe.com - "install_flashplayer10_mssd_aih.exe". But it is possible to download this last file only one time, every next time it redirects me to download install_flash_player.exe file.

  • How can I get Flash Player and install it?

    I29/Aug/2010 17:37
    TO: Adobe Forum
I am running Windows XP Home, and using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8 as my browser.
When I go to download and install the latest version of Flash Player, the ONLY option I get is to quit. In other words, I cannot download and install Flash Player. This even occurs at Adobe's own website.
How can I get Flash Player and install it?
    Thank you in advance.
    Sincerely,
    Barry Karas

First, you can manually download the installer here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/
Second. On both my Mac (OS 10.6.4) and My PC (Vista Home Premium) I have had nothing but trouble with Firefox 3.6.8 and Flash player, Flash apps and Flash sites that require access to web cam or microphone or both.
The last time Flash Player worked well with Firefox was 3.6.4, but I uninstalled 3.6.8 and went all the way back to 3.0 on both systems.
Just a heads up. If you download the manual installer, and it still doesn't work, it ISN'T the Flash Player. It's Firefox. IE, Opera and Safari all work with it.
Go to oldversion.com and get an older build of Firefox, uninstall 3.6.8, install the older one, go to Tools, and Options and turn off automatic checking for updates, so it doesn't try to take you back the the 3.6.8 "busted @$$ joint" that doesn't work worth poo.
Maybe when they release 3.7, Firefox will have their act together with Adobe and Flash Player.
