How do I save GIFs to my desktop?

I used to be able to save GIFs just fine by dragging them to my desktop, but one day it stopped working and now I can only save them as videos or snapshots. Both are obviously extremely inconvenient.
I'm using a Macbook Air, running Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5.
Thank you for all the help!

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause
Firefox issues. '''Disable All of them.'''
Place your mouse on the image, right click, select '''Save As . .'''

  • How do I save iCal calendar as desktop image?

I remember a very old program preinstalled on Macintosh Performas called Expresso, that had a terrific feature allowing your monthly calendar to be automatically saved as your desktop picture. I have been unable to find a program that duplicates this feature. I've tried creating an Automator project that creates a jpg file that could be used as a desktop picture, but it doesn't seem to work, and keeps "encountering an error". I'm not sure it I'm doing it right. Here are the steps I have recorded:
-- Click “iCal” in the Dock.
    -- Click the “File” menu.
    -- Print…
    -- Click the “Continue” button.
    -- Click the “Preview” button.
    -- Click the “File” menu.
    -- Save As…
-- Make a selection from the popupbutton.
    -- JPEG
    -- Click the “Save” button.
    -- Click the “Preview” menu.
    -- Quit Preview
    -- Click the “iCal” menu.
    -- Quit iCal
Does anyone have any ideas how to create such an automated project, or even better does anyone know how to automatically save a monthly calendar to the desktop without going through all this trouble?
    Many thanks.

Make your calendar display full screen. Shift-command-3 to save a screenshot on the Desktop (it will be PictureN.png, where N depends on what is there already). System Preferences/Desktop & Screen Saver. Choose the Desktop tab and click + under the list at the left and browse to the desktop. Select you PictureN and choose Fit to Screen.

  • How do you save quiz results to desktop?

    Hi,
Thank you for reading. I really need help with this situation as I have searched high and low for the answer for weeeks now!
I need a way of saving the quiz results locally to an examiners laptop that the student is taking the quiz on. The reason for this is because the laptop will have no internet connection at all. They will be sitting the quiz on a local html file stored on the desktop of this laptop. I need a way (with or without scorm reprting) to get the results saved locally on that machine. I really do not mind how this is done as long as we can just save the results of each student somewhere locally on that machine. As I said we don't mind if its not scorm complient, even an automatic screenshot would do.
    Thanks in advance
    Danny

Why don't you just set up a local web server and database environment on the examiner's PC and install Moodle so that you can run it locally and have the user do the course modules logged in as a user?
Setting up a XAMPP or WAMP server environment is easy.  You can download a self installing executable that will have you up and running with an Apache web server, PHP, and MySQL in no time.  Installing Moodle is also quite straightforward.
Then you can just output your Captivate course as a SCORM 1.2 course and upload it onto the Moodle server.  User's log in as users to take the course.  The Examiner logs in as an Admin to view results.

  • How do I save a file to desktop?

I have a file that I have saved in my download folder. I am wanting to create a desktop icon to access the file. It is a Word folder.
    Thanks

Right click and select '''''Create A Shortcut'''''. It will be placed right there and you
can move it to where you want. '''But''' sometimes a shortcut cannot be
created in some folders, so the system will ask if you want to place it on the
desktop. Again, from here you can put it where you want.

    Hello ryane84
The easiest and most efficient way to copy your music is to follow the steps under the External drive section. Make sure that you have organized the iTunes library first before you copy it over. Then put the copied iTunes folder in the same Music folder on your computer.

  • How do I save a picture in "Preview" to the desktop?

    Hello,
Now that I'm using Lion, I'm having to re-learn several things and right now I'm trying to figure out how to save a picture to my desktop when I'm in "Preview". In Snow Leopard, all I had to do was go under the File menu and choose, "Save As". However, in Lion, that feature is gone. Instead, it says: "Save A Version". I have no idea what that means. When I am viewing a photo, if I select "Save A Version", I do not see anything happening. Maybe it is saving my photo somewhere on my computer, but if that is the case, I have no clue where it is being saved. What I want to be able to do is "Save" the photo with a name that I choose to give it (not the default name of the picture as it was emailed to me), and I want to be able to save it to my desktop. In Snow Leopard, choosing "Save As" would bring up a dialogue window where I could accomplish these things. So my question is: How do I do this is Lion?
    Thanks!

Open your picture in preview then select file>duplicate then go back the file menu and then select save, the save options window will open you can choose to save it to the desktop.

You can use the Save As feature to save a copy to a different location.
    1. Open a PDF document in Adobe Reader Touch.
    2. Bring up the toolbars by swiping up from the bottom edge (Touch) or right-click with a mouse.
    3. Tap/click the Save As button in the bottom toolbar.
(Click the image above to enlarge)
    For Windows 8/RT
4a. In the File Browser, tap/click the down arrow button in the top left corner.
5a. Select Desktop from the drop-down menu.

  • How do I save a link to my desktop?

How do I save a link to my desktop. In IE I used to save a link to my desktop for a website that I wanted to look at again. I guess I could bookmark it, but I usually only do that for sites that I visit often. In IE the option was under File > Send Link. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Hey terenceholt,
This is actually really easy to do. All you have to do is go to the webpage that you want to bookmark. Click on the site icon to the left side of the URL and drag the icon to your desktop.
It's probably easier to see it done, so you should look at the KB article [[Creating a desktop shortcut to a web page]].
    Hope this helps!

  • How can I avoid having to save edited photos to desktop?

I use iPhoto '09 for organizing my photos and Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac for editing my photos, most of which are JPEGs. My procedure is to make a duplicate of the photo I wish to edit and then hand it off to PSE 6 for editing via the Edit in External Editor option.
I notice a strange phenomenon when saving my photos after editing them. Sometimes the photos can be saved directly to the same folder in which the unedited duplicate version resides (my preference), but more often I have to save the edited version to my desktop and then import it into my iPhoto program. I have not been able to discern a reason why I need to save the edited images to my desktop. The system seems arbitrary in this regard. I don't recall having this issue to deal with when I used iPhoto '06 and PSE 4 for Mac. I would appreciate somebody explaining this phenomenon and indicate how I can consistently save an edited photo directly to the folder in which the unedited version resides instead of having to save it to my desktop and then import it into iPhoto.
For your information I use iPhoto Library Manager.
    Bob

A simple rule of thumb is: if the file format of the edited photo does not change due to the editing the file is saved to the Modified folder and viewed by iPhoto as if iPhoto did the editing. If the editing requires a format change, i.e. from jpg to psd then the new file must be saved to the desktop and imported as a new photo. The following expands on that:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

How can I save a DVD that I have previously bought, recorded or burned from TV onto my MacBook Air?

    1) How can I simply drag photos from albums onto my desktop?
select the photo and drag it to the desktop  --  or export it to the desktop (file menu ==> export)
2)does anybody know how to change the email setting for "from"?  When I attempt to share a photo and email it to someone, I cant because I have no idea of the information in my "from" box.  Therefore I dont have the password to send it.  How can I change that setting?
to change account information iPhoto preferences ==> accounts  --  or better yet IMHO just set the e-mial client to Apple Mail rather than the default iPhoto and send using mail
