I have an iMac with vs. 11 of iMovie. I want to buy a Mac Air, and the salesman stated that I can move all my iMovies into my iCloud account to be visible on all my apple products. When I followed directions under the Documents...options....iMovie was not a choice. How do I get it there? Must I upgrade to iMovie 13? If so, will the iCloud account be updated to save the new version iMovies?

If you create a Shared Photo Stream in iPhoto you can add movies to it.
You'll have to get the movie into iPhoto first.

You will have to sign in to I cloud on any of the iOS device with version 5 or above once with your Apple Id to use your Apple Id as I cloud account. So if you have an iPhone iPad or iPod touch with iOS 5 or later.
On your iOS device go to settings > I cloud and sign in and you should be able to use your Apple Id as an icloud Id.

Instead, if you have "Documents & Data" enabled in System Preferences > iCloud, your iCloud-compatible games may save your progresses and settings in iCloud, but nothing else.

For iMovie 11, you will need to download a free tool called MPEG Streamclip from Squared 5. (Google it). This is a very handy tool to have if you make videos.
In iMovie, select the clip that contains the frame that you want. Right-click on the clip and select Reveal in Finder.

You can't use iCloud like that. It isn't a general file storage service; it's designed to sync data across your devices.
Some options are to sync all your music or other media off your device, then sync it back on after you update. Another is to import your photos to your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083), then sync them back to your phone after you update by putting them in a folder, then selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.

It seems you are experiencing an issue with contact syncing and management. It seems you've removed an email account which contained a number of contacts that are not associated with your iCloud account. I use the iCalendar that comes with the iPad. At home on my desktop PC I access iCloud through Google Chrome. All appointments at home get entered on the PC, throughout the day. I like to keep this page open but it invariably gets closed down, and each time I open it I am required to enter username and password, despite the fact I always check the optional box, "Always stay signed in". Frequently I need instant access to this calendar. I also have Last Pass installed, but it doesn't see pop-up sign-ins. Anyone have suggestions?

If, by "XL", you mean excel files, then you need to either use Numbers to read an excel file on the mac and then save it to icloud. Or log into icloud.com with a computer's browser, go to the Numbers page and then try to import a file from the mac.
You might also consider using Dropbox to store files and use the iOS Dropbox app on the device to download files to the device.

System Preferences > iCloud > uncheck "Documents & Data"
Unfortunately this will not be helpful if you happen to use iCloud for Documents at times, but with the option unchecked Pages, Keynote, & Numbers remember the last folder saved to again.

If you are on a mac, Use contacts App, it will sync with your Icloud account. Files are only accessible through programs, like numbers, and preview. There is no dropbox like option.

Open the email, do a save as have it save to the location you want from the drop down menu (You could select desktop and then drag it into a folder in documents) and click save as a .rtf.
Or you can copy and paste into a document (Word, Pages, Text Edit...) Make a folder and put it in docs.
