How do i save in word 07 format

how can i save a pages document or export into a .docx format? my gf's professor is very specific that it must be in .docx not .doc format. any suggestions?

Hi Jason,
Pages can open .docx files, but does not have the capability of writing .docx files.
Her choices would appear to be:
Do the work in Pages, then export as .doc, open that in an application that can save it as .docx
Do the work in an application that can save it as .docx
Mac applications that can open and write .docx files include
MS Word 2011 (for which the Home and Student edition is more reasonably priced than the 'pro' edition)
OpenOffice.org, and it's offshoots, LibreOffice and NeoOffice (The first two are free to download and use, though at least one of them requests donations to support future development. Neo has started requiring a minimum $10 donation within the past year to download the most recent version; older versions are still free. Links are to the home pages, from which the download pages are easily accessible.
As much as I dislike the idea, I think that in the circumstances I would lean toward a route requiring the fewest translations of file format.
Regards,
Barry
PS: Has anyone asked the reasons that the papers must be submitted in this specific format?

What is a Word PDF file? There are Word files and there are PDF files. What does your question have to do with Boot Camp, the subject of this discussion group?

You can't directly, as Microsoft don't include iCloud support in their apps.
You'd have to open your Word file in Apple's Pages and save it to iCloud from there.

Connect another disk drive to which you can save the document. Then clear space on your hard drive.

      1. See Lion/Mountain Lion's Storage Display.
      2. You can remove data from your Home folder except for the /Home/Library/ folder.
      3. Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on freeing up space on your hard drive.
      4. Also see Freeing space on your Mac OS X startup disk.
      5. See Where did my Disk Space go?.
      6. See The Storage Display.
You must Empty the Trash in order to recover the space they occupied on the hard drive.
You should consider replacing the drive with a larger one. Check out OWC for drives, tutorials, and toolkits.
Try using OmniDiskSweeper 1.8 or GrandPerspective to search your drive for large files and where they are located.

  • TS1506 how do i save a word document attached to an email to my iphone

I am trying to save a word document from an email to my iphone 4s.
I have looked on all of the support pages and have found that word . doc is supported but cannot see how i can save it in any way?
I have followed all guidelines but now it is making it hard to either attach a document to my email and save them

In order to save any type of document on your phone you need to have an app that supports that form of document.
There are several word processing apps but I prefer Pages.  Buy this app. Once it is on your phone you can tap the Word document in your email to view it then tap the Share icon and Open in Pages.
If you edit the document and email it you will have the choice to send it as a Pages document, a Word document or a PDF file.

  • Can I save from the "pages" app to the "Dropbox" app, and will it save the footnotes if I save in word format in Dropbox?

    As the headline.
I would like to know, is I can save files from pages (and other typing apps), to Dropbox, and still keep the footnotes if I save it in word format. I want to be able to open it on my PC, and have a normal word document with all the corrections from the iPad.
    Thanks in advance

  • How to: Fast save as word file (while working in word file)

I really don't like going in to the export menu all the time, but don't want to save my files as .pages (as I work in files of customers who only have Word or OpenOffice).
    How to do that?

This thread comes closest to my question. I was hoping that iWork would be a good alternative to NeoOffice, which opens so slowly and constantly opens Safari, looking for another donation.
As well as needing to export each and every time, if working in a Word document, and going through that tedious process, I'm miffed that it won't save to the document's original location! If the original document is in a subfolder of the user's Documents folder, it only offers to save to Documents, or that list which might include Desktop. So, we end up with different copies/versions of the document on the system.
The app preferences are severely limited as compared to other applications. And, because we might have hit command + S, as we all have that automatic reflex, now we've got a document which also has the .pages extension. Which may also reside in a location different from the original document.
And why doesn't there appear to be a way to see the open document's complete file name, with its extension, in the window's header. I've been searching through the app's limited preferences, and the menu bar choices, without finding an option to see the whole file name. It'd be nice to know whether the open document is the one which has the .pages extension or the one which has the .doc extension.

  • How do i save my word files so i can open them in windows?

Im doing some work on my MAC and saving it to my pendrive. Whats the best format to save them so i can open and edit them in windows?

    Hi Chris,
Format the flash drive in FAT32, save the file as you would normally and transfer it to the flash drive, then the PC. It should work fine unless one of the Word apps is older.

  • How can I save a Word document as a PDF whilst retaining hyperlinks?

I know that Word can't do it (not on Mac anyway).
What other software (ideally free) can do it though?

You're right - it doesn't work on a Mac: not even with Adobe Acrobat Pro.
That's why I have to use Word for Windows running under Parallels. I'm now running Windows Pro 64-bit and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI and hyperlinks are fuly functional using the Windows version. It's not a bug, it's just that Adobe hasn't invested much effort into support Acrobat/Word on a Mac, I suppose.
If you're willing to make the investment in Windows, Office 2013 (which I'm now using) and Acrobat Pro XI, you can easily save PDF files with active hyperlinks. I notice that "AussieDJ" says that it works in Pages - although I have Pages, I've not tried it as Pages is a joke as far as I'm concerned.
Just one more thing you can accomplish on a Windows machine that you can't do on a Mac...

  • How do I save as Word, using Pages '09, Lion

The "help" section says: go to Save, or Save as, but there is no Save or Save As under File, in Lion, Pages '09.

    Richard,
For future reference, since Fruhulda's response solved your problem, you should mark her post as the one that was the solution, not your own post. At least give her a "helpful".

  • How can i save word documents to pages? I have an illegal copy of word but want to upgrade my software so I can utilize i cloud.  I'm a writer and need to preserve my word documents.

I have an illegal copy of word and I want to upgrade my software so I can utilize i cloud.  How can I save my word documents to pages
so that they are not lost in this upgrade?  I do not have the disk to reinstall word after the upgrade.

You might want to post your question in the Pages forum. https://discussions.apple.com/community/iwork/pages
Also if it's the Office 2004 version of Word it won't work in Lion since it's a Power PC program. Office 2008 will work in Lion if it's already installed when you upgrade. But it won't install on Lion because the installer program uses Power PC code. Office 2011 is the only one that will install and work on Lion.

    Hi Satish,
First, your SAP system must be configure by the basis people in order for you to send an external mail.
Whether it can send pdf or other file format will depends on the Mail Server you are using.
The basis people must also maintain the conversion parameters so that SAP knows how to convert the billing documents to be send as a pdf file or other desired format specified by your company.
Finally, you have define the IMG in Maintain Output Determination for Billing Documents (Output type MAIL)
      Reward points if this helps.
