How do I save info from my iPhone to iCloud so I can free up space so I can update to IOS 8

I cannot update to IOS8 as I do not have enough memory on my iPhone.  I thought everything goes to iCloud but I am unclear about this and I do not want to delete APPS or pictures from my iPhone.  I do not want to lose anything yet.  What must I do to recovery more memory so I can update.  This is also happening with my iPad mini.
Thanks!

Connect to iTunes to do the update - you won't need nearly as much free space in that case.

    Hi dougestale!
You have a couple of options here. Your music purchased through iTunes is always available for re-downloading through the purchase history of your Apple ID. An article about accessing and utilizing this can be found right here:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519
You could also choose to use iTunes Match so that all of your library will be available for streaming anytime. More info about this service can be found here:

How do I transfer photos from my iphone to the icloud so I can free up space?

You can't use iCloud to store your photos in order to free up space on your phone.  The only photos in iCloud other than the ones stored in your backup are photo stream photos.   And when you use photo stream your photo stream photos will still be stored on your phone.  In other words, you can't post your photos in iCloud and view them from there without having them stored on your phone.  There are many other photo hosting services that provide this (such as Flikr, Smugmug, Picassa and others).

How do I transfer pictures from my iphoto to an external harddrive to free up space?

To get photos off of your Mac the solution is to run your iPhoto library (and probably iTunes library) on an external drive. The drive must be formatted Mac OS extended (journaled). Quit iPhoto and drag your iPhoto libeprary to a properly formatted external drive, depress the option key, launch iPhoto and use the select library window to select the new location. Fully test it and then delete the one on the internal drive. Test one more time before emptying the trash. Verify that your back up software is backing up the external drive.

Move the cursor to the very top of the computer's screen, click on File, and choose Transfer Purchases. If you need to authorize the computer, the command is in the Store menu.

  • How do I move info from old iPhone to new one?

Could someone please help me understand how to migrate the info on my old iPhone to my new one? Thanks!

    See this: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2109
Basically, you sync your old iPhone to your computer, then connect the new one and set it up using the backup of the old phone when prompted to do that.

HOw do I transfer all data from old iPhone to iPhone 5

    Randers -
I'm trying to move data/restore my new ATT 5 from my old 3G. I had to use iTunes and I followed the directions in the link a couple posts above, but I never got the option at step 5 to "restore from a Backup".  instead I got a confirmation page that xxx-xxx-xxxx was my phone number. i said yes.
how do i restore from the old 3G now? (one point the 3g was running ios 5.1.1, not sure if that matters).
    appreciate any help/advice

  • TS3989 how do i download videos from my iphone to icloud

When I sync my Iphone to Icloud, my photos are downloaded, but none of my videos are there. Is there something else I should be doing?

Photo stream does not support videos, only photos.  iCloud only stores your camera roll videos in your device backup; it does not sync them to your other devices.
You can import them to your computer as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083, then add them to your iTunes library and sync them to your other devices.  You could also explore other cloud services such as DropBox, which will upload your videos and make them available to your other devices.
