How do I save my bookmarks in Mavericks

How do I save my bookmarks in Mavericks & how do I reinsert them after a reinstall?

It varies depending on the application. For Safari, choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu, provide ~/Library/Safari/ as the path, and drag the Bookmarks file to another drive. It can be put back the same way.

    Regards,
    Colin R,
I think you mean this though after re-reading your question:
Add web clips to the Home screen for fast access to your favorite webpages. Web clips appear as icons on the Home screen, and you can arrange your web clips along with the other application icons. See “Customizing the Home Screen” on page 13.

  • I am receiving a "couldn't load XPCOM" error. I know that I can reinstall Firefox but how do I save my bookmarks?

I am receiving a "couldn't load XPCOM" error. I know that I can reinstall Firefox but when I went to do that it erased all of my bookmarks so I did a system restore. How do I save my bookmarks?

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
*Download the full Firefox installer and save the file to the desktop<br>https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
If possible uninstall your current Firefox version to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove "personal data" when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because this will remove all profile folders and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords including data in profiles created by other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure NOT to remove personal data when you uninstall Firefox as that will remove all Firefox profile folders and you lose your personal data.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

HOW DO I SAVE MY BOOKMARKS FROM FIREFOX AS I HAVE TO REINSTALL WINDOW ON MY LAPTOP

This would be a multistep process. First you would need Firefox on your desktop computer then import the bookmarks from IE into Firefox. Then once the bookmarks are in Firefox they can be synced to Firefox mobile.

  • How can I save my bookmarks, and email them?

I would like to save my bookmarks, and email them to one of my Gmail accounts. This way I can download them into another computer.
    How do I do this?

    A couple of methods.
If you want the bookmarks on the other computer to be replaced with the bookmarks on your current computer, follow the procedure in the [[Backing up and restoring bookmarks]] article to backup the bookmarks to a json file which you can email, and then restore those onto the other computer.
If you want to add the bookmarks to the other computer, but still keep the bookmarks that are already on the other computer, you need to export them to an html file. To do that see [[Exporting bookmarks to an HTML file]]. You can email the html file, and import it to the other computer, for details see [[Importing Bookmarks from an HTML File]].

  • How can I save a bookmark in more than one location?

In previous versions, I could save a bookmark in one folder, and again in another. This option seems to have disappeared with 29.0. The reference articles don't outline how to do this.
Does anyone have a trick up their sleeve that will let us do this?
I know that I should perhaps be using tags, but I have thousands of bookmarks filed and can't start a new procedure now with a major project launch coming up.
    Thanks!
    Allan

hello allen, in the bookmark library you can copy and paste bookmarks into multiple locations. however as you have said, tags are probably a far more efficient way to organize your bookmarks...

  • Docs&settings only shows bookmarks from Int Explorer used previously, not Moxilla. How can I save the bookmarks which are shown correctly when using MF?

I want to save my bookmarks as I have done periodically since 2000 using Xp.
For copying to F drive or USB, procedure is open C drive, Documents and settings, my name, Favorites
I have hundreds of sorted bookmarks which I update fairly often.
Changed to MF about five years ago.
It looks like nothing has been added to the Favorites within Documents and Settings since then - all have the blue Int. Explorer logo, none in Moxilla colours.
I was unaware of this as all bookmarks are shown correctly to left of desktop.

    There are three basic options
#You can backup the bookmarks in a form that Firefox can use. And these include any tags with them.<br />See [[Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer]]
#Firefox stores History in the same database: '''places.sqlite'' the whole of that or even the whole of the profile may be backed up if necessary. <br /> See [[Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles]]
#You may back them up by '''export / import''' as HTML. These are the same sort of files as is used for IE favourites / favorites. (These will append or tack on to existing bookmark collections) <br />See [[Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks]]
CARE if you restore bookmarks from a backup it overwrites your existing bookmarks so always back them up manually before doing any restore.
Firefox creates its own library of bookmarks. It is possible to add HTML files from IE to these. You will not be able to make sense of Firefox's .json or .sqlite files other than by allowing them to be used within Firefox. The HTML files may probably be opened directly by Firefox or some other programs such as Word Processors.
    * See [[Import Bookmarks from Internet Explorer]]

  • Ios Safari. How do I save new bookmark in new folder AT THE SAME TIME??

    I'm dumbfounded.
I'm on ios7 using an iphone, on Safari...
and I find a page I want to bookmark.
So I click the "share" button, click "Bookmark" to add it. Fine. Then I get options to choose a folder to store it in. Yay!
But nay! There is no option to save it in a brand NEW folder that doesn't already exist!
Do I REALLY have to cancel, click the bookmarks menu, click edit, click new folder, create a new folder... then go back to the share button, and save the bookmark in the new folder??
I can't be bothered to count the number of steps I have to take to do this but, it seems like TOO MANY!!
Am I being dumb? Is there an easier way?
Am I the only one who finds this infuriatingly inefficient?

To emphasise my point: To do this it appears that I actually have to:
    1. click Cancel (upon realising I'm an idiot for thinking it could be so simple)
    2. click the bookmarks menu,
    3. click Edit,
    4. click New Folder,
    5. type the name of new folder,
    6. click Done.
    7. click Done again.
    8. err... So "done" doesn't mean done apparently, so click Done YET AGAIN
    9. then click the share button
    10. click Bookmark
    11. click Location
    12. choose the folder
    13. click Save
Who is designing all this software? And how did they get the job?

  • How do i save a bookmark in a folder that isnt shown in edit bookmark window

I imported favorites from IE. I have multiple folders in the bookmarks toolbar. When saving a bookmark by double clicking star icon the edit box pops up. There is no option to save in any of these subfolders. Example: bookmarks toolbar>from internet explorer>business
How do I save a new bookmark to that particular folder? In the edit box it shows the save to "from internet explorer" option but shows none of the subfolders that I want to save it to.

By the way, you may want to move some of those imported folders up to the main menu level rather than keeping them in the Imported... folder. You can drag them around using the Library dialog (formerly known as the Bookmarks Organizer). To open that, use either:
    * Ctrl+Shift+b
    * Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks

  • Firefox Android, how can I save a bookmark to one of my desktop bookmark folders?

On Firefox in Android I can see all of my desktop bookmark folders.
I want to be able to bookmark a site and to save that bookmark in one of my desktop bookmark folders rather than the 'Mobile Bookmarks' folder.
    Is this possible?
If not is it an issue with Firefox that could be addressed with an add-on, or is it an issue with Android?

It is not possible. It should be possible to find the bookmark by typing a few letters of the name or URL of the bookmark.
The other option is to use Firefox Sync and organize your mobile bookmarks on desktop Firefox. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-do-i-set-up-firefox-sync

  • How do I save a bookmark on the list to a specific folder?

I have amassed a collecti0n of over 1000 bookmarks. is there a tutorial anywhere to learn how to manage those bookmarks. Like in:
a.keep them under specific folders... what are the steps to move a bookmark to the inside of a folder. or ...
    b.list them in alphabetical order.
c How do I get the system to allow me to add a new bookmark at the top of the list instead of the very bottom?
    d. How could one scroll down on a long list of saved bookmarks without having to go with the cursor one line at a time?
    Additionally:
if I wanted to keep a list of all the websites addresses, is there a way to save that list as a file or a print out?
    e. where do all those bookmark addresses get saved on, should I wanted to go and make a duplicate of that list? In which sub-folder of Firefox are they kept
    On another note:
Is it possible to request an email to be sent to my address when
    1. someone answers My posting?
    2. how can i keep track of the history of my posted questions and the thread of those questions?
Thank you kindly for whomever may offer any detailed help

    b. Sort Places extension - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/9275/
    c. Sorry, I don't know how to do that. When I want to save a new bookmark to a specific location in one of my bookmark folder I just drag the website image ''(from the URL bar or that tab)'' into that folder and position.
    d. You can use the "up" and "down" arrow keys to quickly scroll the Bookmarks menu bar drop-down; highlighted bookmark folders can be opened by the right arrow key and you can scroll that folder with the down arrow key. When the bookmark you want to open is highlighted you can open it with the Enter key, or {Ctrl + Enter} to open it in a new Tab.
    e. Your Bookmarks ''(and browsing history)'' are stored in the '''places.sqlite''' file in your Profile folder. Five daily backups of yoir Bookmarks are stored in the '''\bookmarkbackups\''' folder in your Profile folder. <br />
