How do I save my imovie '11 as a DVD format without the pictures fitting the screen incorrectly (they're fine on the actual iMovie)?

My iMovie '11 plays well and the pictures show entirely on the computer, but when burned to a DVD, the edges of the pictures are cut out, resulting in people being cut out.  How do I reformat this so it scales it correctly for the DVD? Thanks!

Do you know what the Project Properties are of the iMovie? Is it for example Widescreen (16:9) screen ratio? The way to find out is go into iMovie hold down the Apple key and hit letter j (Project Properties) and at the top it will have a setting for Aspect Ratio,(it will be either 4:3 or 16:9). iDVD may not be set to the same aspect ratio and that may account for what is missing on the left and right sides of the screen.
In iDVD go under the Project Menu and see what Aspect Ratio is listed Project Info.. option. Also under the Project Menu, you might be able to manually switch to one or the other ratios by choosing Change Project to... And picking whatever is listed there (usually it's the opposite of what the project already is set to).

  • How can i save and download word documents on my ipad without the pages app

Need to know how to save documents on my ipad so i can share the same version of documents between my computer and my ipad on the same network. I do not have the pages app. and Most of the documents are either pdfs of word docs. so need to be able to save them on ipad and retrieve them when i am on the move. Pls help?

You have to have an app on the iPad that is compatible with the particular file type that you want to save, edit or share. You can look at any of the word processing apps - Pages is one, Documents to Go, Quick Office Pro - but you have to have one like that in order to save and edit Word files.
With pdf files - iBooks will work to save them - but that's all. Other apps like GoodReader will let you annotate them.
You have to decide which app will serve your needs best and them download them in order to save, edit and share those file types.

  • How can I save my iMovie Project to a DVD or Flash Drive which can be played on a PC and any DVD player

I have an iMac, purchased in January 2011. How can I save an iMovie project to a DVD or Flash Drive which can be played on a PC or any DVD player

I will give you a basic primer, not going to get to in depth, as far as parameters, size of project, or the storage size of your usb flash drive, etc.
    1. you have your finished iMovie project. Under iMovie>Share menu. Choose export using quicktime.
    2. make Movie self contained. This way your Mov, Mvi, etc files will be part of the movie and it can play without having to reference the events, because it is actually there.
    3. so, now on your desktop  ( or any where else set up quicktime to save your file) you will see a quicktime file.
Drag & Drop that file on to the icon of your USB Flash Drive, etc.
    4. Details that I omitted because I admit I am not well versed. Most Likely that quicktime file is larger than your USB Flash Drive. You have to use one of quicktime compression work flows, also if you open the just created quicktime file. It will open quicktime player and under the File>Export you have to options. I have a Movie that was 42GB 1080P, I exported it as a 720P, so it would still be playable on a large screen and now the new file was less than 2.5GB.
    5. Oh, no i just realized that the file should be playable on a PC, as long as the PC has quicktime for windows installled and you left that USB formated at MS DOS as it came originally, or a PC will not recognize it. Will it open up on your Blu-Ray Player that has a USB port, not sure. Since there is no menu. but, perhaps just pushing play will start movie.
Hope this is of some help.

  • How do you save an iMovie project as a file?

how do you save an imovie as a windows file?

You first have to format the External drive as Mac OS Extended. This can be done with Disk Utility which is located in the Utilities Folder inside the Applications Folder. Once formatted as a native Mac OS drive, iMovie will allow you to 'turn on' the visibility of the external drive. Make sure to make the hard drive visible in the Events Library by going to the View Menu > Group Events by Disk. In the Projects Folder you should also see the same drive.
Drag your Project folders to the external drive icon in the Project Library. Also drag your Event Folders to the external drive (but make sure to drag it to the icon that is visible in the Event Library, don't drag it to the Project Library drive icon).
This dragging operation will 'duplicate' your Project Folders and Event Folders on the external drive. So to make space on your internal drive, always delete the original folders AFTER you make copies of them on the External drive. In the future when you are importing video into a New Event, make sure to choose the external drive as the location for the the New Event folder. Similalrly create a new Project Folder in the external drive location in the Project Library.
iMovie doesn't have save menu, it auto-saves in the background continuously as you work on the Project. That way you don't lose any work by forgetting to save the project.

  • How do I save annotations. Even if I close out of the document or email it to myself I don't seethem

How do I save annotations? Even if I close out of the document or email it to myself I don't see the annotations in the document I email to myself. Thanks.

    Hi,
Are you editing a local document or a Acrobat.com document?
If you are using Preview to open the document that you emailed to yourself, you will not see the added annotations. This is a limitation in Preview.
If you open the same pdf in Adobe Reader app, you would see the added annotations saved in the pdf file.
Please do let us know if this helps.
    Thanks,

  • How to download macbook pro (mid 2010) drivers for windows 7, without the included DVD (lost) ?

    Hello everyone,
I am facing a problem with bootcamp on my Macbook pro 15" (Mid 2010, running Mos OS 10.6.6).
I have successfully installed windows 7 via Bootcamp, but I lost the Drivers DVD furnished by Apple.
I tried to download these using Bootcamp (v3.0.4), but bootcamp won't let me save it, i get this error :
"the windows support software could not be saved to the selected folder"
An Apple support article has been made for this problem ( http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3648 ), but it doesn't solve the problem in my case because I lost the furnished DVD.
So here I am, struck on this drivers issue...
    So, my question is :
How to download macbook pro (mid 2010) drivers for windows 7, without the included DVD (lost) ?
Thank you for your help !
    Regards

Aw, and I forgot, being in Thailand, they do not sell the installation DVD.

  • In Mavericks Mail, how do you attach a PDF (single-page or multi-page) without the PDF being embedded in the message?

In Mavericks Mail, how do you attach a PDF (single-page or multi-page) without the PDF being embedded in the message?

I attached a .doc file to the message and it appeared as an icon, so I did not have to convert it. I attached a .jpg image — it appeared as a full image, but when I Command+clicked the image, the view as icon window did not appear on the screen. Likewise, I again checked the Mail Menu Bar, and did see 'View as icon.' Side note: I routinely use Mavericks Mail in Classic Mode, so I decided to try both modes. Same results in both modes. I checked my Mail Preferences, but couldn't find anything there, either. I'll continue to look around, but this has me stumped. Thanks for your assistance.

  • IMovie crashed, lost project. How do you SAVE in iMovie? Where's the file?

Just spent 4-5 hours building a complicated movie from a year's worth of footage. At some point, iMovie crashed. I think I lost all those hours of creative decision making, since I cannot see the file when I reopen iMovie.
There is no "open" command in the file menu. There is no "save" command in the file menu.
This would imply that Apple was autosaving for me to save me trouble. Hmm. I can save in almost every program I use, and revert, and save versions.
How do you save a project in iMovie? I don't see save in the file menu, as has been the steadfast tradition of Apple applications since I purchased my first Mac in 1984. What in the blazes have you done with SAVE? It is so basic.
Along the same line, where is the project file located on my hard drive? I would like to open it. Since I assume you have been autosaving to somewhere, could you please let me know where my file is saved.
    <Edited by Host>

This just appeared to happen to me too.  I tried clicking on the file in Movies/iMovie Projects.  That didn't work.
Then, I made a copy of the  file in a safe place.  I noticed it was 2.2 MB, so something had to be in there.  Next, I started iMovie and clicked the Project Library arrow.  The project was listed there.  I opened it and got back most but not all of the work.  It lost a lot of my audio changes.  Here's the thing.  I worked until about midnight, and then left iMovie up and running til noon.  You would think it would have autosaved the changes by the time I came back.  I suggest making your own copy of the file now and then, just in case.

  • How do I save/convert IMovie clips to be able to play in Windows Media Player?

I am new to IMovie and have a new MacBookPro Retina. I have made several movies and want to be able to share them with friends on their PC. How can I save/convert them for them to play them in Windows Media Player?

file/share/ and select 'file' again.. creates a mp4, which is compatible with any player software.
    or, in case ....
If want to 'convert' older exports, with a mov or m4v of whatever suffix, use he free tool Mpeg Streamclip, open the file, choose direct 'Save as' again, and select in the drop-down menu mp => NO conversion, just 're-wrapping', blazing fast and lossless ...
