How do I save my keynote presentations in a different spot?

Since Lion, it seems like we are not able to save a different 'version' of Keynote, save it into another folder, or other such things. Of course, these can all be done surreptisiously, but why has the 'save as' function been removed. Luckily, we can still find the document and relocate it ourselves using, Cmd+I.
Does anyone know a way around this dilemma?

Open the presentation, duplicate it, then save the duplicate wherever you want.

How can I save my presentation as one single file and not as a folder?

Keynote "files" are not single files, they are packages which contain all the individual files that the presentation requires.
Some online storage systems such as Google Drive show Keynote as a folder.
We use Dropbox to distribute all our file types and Keynote does not have an issue using that.

  • How do I save a Keynote document to cloud

How do I save a Keynote document to cloud and retrieve on iPad? I have Keynote on both devices.

    Hey there QuJing,
It sounds like you have a Keynote presentation that you would like to save to iCloud, to open on your iPad. You can do that in the File menu:
On your Mac, open the presentation you want to appear in iCloud, then do either of the following:
For an already-saved presentation: Choose File > Move To, then choose iCloud from the Where pop-up menu.
For an unsaved presentation: Choose File > Save, then choose iCloud from the Where pop-up menu.

You can verify that your Mac has is setup correctly with this:
Set up Keynote to use iCloud
Open System Preferences on your Mac, then click iCloud.
Sign in using your Apple ID, or request a new Apple ID and then sign in.
Select the Documents & Data checkbox, then click Options.
Select the Keynote checkbox, then click Done.
    Use iCloud with Keynote

And on your iPad with this:
Set up Keynote to use iCloud:
To use iCloud, you must sign in with your Apple ID in the Settings app, and make sure iCloud is turned on in Keynote.
Tap Settings on your Home screen, and then tap iCloud.
Sign in using your Apple ID, or request a new Apple ID and then sign in.
In the list of iCloud services, make sure that Documents & Data is turned on.If it’s not, tap Documents & Data, and then slide the switch to ON.
Scroll down to Apps on the left side of the Settings window, and tap Keynote.
    Slide “Use iCloud” to ON.

The iWork Public Beta allowed me to share Keynote presentations with anyone via the web. Now Apple tells me the Public Beta is being replaced by iCloud. How can I share a Keynote presentation online via iCloud? Must the presentation be downloaded to view?

iCloud is not designed for sharing data with other people: you will need a third-party alternative such as DropBox or Sugarsync.

  • How can i transfer a keynote presentation from an iPad to another iPad? I haven't a wifi connection.

How can i transfer a keynote presentation from an iPad to another iPad? I haven't a wifi connection.

Depends on how big the file is.  If itis only a couple of pages, or mostly text, the easiest way would be to e mail it.  If it is a very large file you are going to need wifi.  Take both pads to starbucks, and e mail it from there.  Or if you have wifi, use drop box, for example.
Your other choice, avoiding wifi would be a bluetooth type transfer.  There is an app call bluetooth file lite that reads like it will do what you need.   The good news is it is free.  The bad news is that it has terrible ratings.  For grins, i am installing it now on a pad and a phone, and will see if it works.
With a bluetooth method, you need both devices in  the same place.  If you are trying to send your file across country, bluetooth will not work for you.  you need e mail or drop box type solution, and if the file is big, you will almost certainly need wifi.

  • How can I embed a Keynote presentation on a web page?

I created a Keynote presentation using Keynote version 6.5 (OS X Yosemite). I found the "export as html" option, which creates an entire web page named index.html. I opened that web page in Dreamweaver, but I'm not talented enough to figure out how to turn that page into a proper index.html page, including the graphics, background, and links (etc.) that I want on my sites home page.
I have also tried to embed the presentation onto a web page that I've already created, but I can't figure out how to do that, either.
Can someone tell me if it's possible to embed a custom-sized Keynote presentation onto a web page and, if so, how?
OR can you tell me how to edit the page that Keynote created when I open it up in Dreamweaver?
I think the former would be easier, given what I've seen when I try to do the latter.
I have been using Dreamweaver for many years - since before Adobe bought it - and the site I'm currently updating is already in Dreamweaver. That's why I'm asking about Dreamweaver (if you were curious).
Of course, I've probably not provided all the information you would need to help me, so please ask questions. I won't be offended if they point out my ignorance!
Thank you for any help you might provide.

The only workaround I found was to use the desktop version of Keynote, which allowed me to export the presentation as a set of images to iPhoto. From there, they show up as an album and can be brought back to the iPad, and then played as a looping slide show in the pictures app. It worked perfectly.

  • How can I control a keynote presentation on my iPhone from my iPad?

I have Keynote installed on both my iPhone and iPad.  I would like to be able to remotely control a presentation using my iPad.  I would like the iPhone to display the slideshow while I remotely control the show using my iPad.  I currently can control the show in the opposite way-my iPhone can easily find and control the slideshow displaying on the iPad.  I really want to display the show on the iPhone while using the larger screen of the iPad to control the show while I read the presenter's notes.  I only seem to be able to display on the iPad and use the iPhone as a remote control.  (I know that this is probably the preferred user method.)  The iPad will not even detect the iPhone when looking for devices.  Both are on the same WiFi network and have bluetooth turned on.  Does anyone know why the control only works in one direction or how to reverse control?

If I am understanding your question correctly what you are wanting to achieve is not possible. You can't run the same keynote presentation on both devices at the same time. Also, why would you want to use the small screen size of the iPhone as your display instead of the iPad? If it is just to see your presenter notes then print them out and use the iPhone as your remote.
Perhaps more info is needed so i fully understand your issue.

  • How can I edit a Keynote presentation while it's playing?

For the life of me, I can't figure out how to edit a Keynote presentation while it's playing. That MUST be easily accomplished, but I can't find the method to do it.
    Any clues?

    Welcome to the forum, Arctistic!
Keynote uses a single set file to define a presentation, so changing a Keynote presentation while it is running would be like editing a movie while it is playing -- it's simply not set up to both display a running show on one monitor while allowing the file to be tinkered with on another. It would be nice if Keynote allowed the option to freeze the audience display on a slide image when the show was aborted, for just these purposes, but it currently doesn't have this capability.
As a workaround, if you know ahead of time where a single edit point will be, you could set up your displays so that the desktop of the audience display shows an image of the slide you want to pause on. That way, when you temporarily exit the slideshow to do your edits on your monitor, the audience would simply continue to see the same slide. Since one can access Dashboard widgets while Keynote is running, you could presumably even set up a system that allows for multiple break points by creating a widget that sits on the presenter desktop that changes the audience desktop to several different slide images. This would not, however, allow for arbitrary edit points, nor would allow the slideshow to continue moving through slides while the edit is underway.
If the presentation is completely linear, you could also possibly set it up so that the first part of the presentation is actually a Quicktime file of the Keynote presentation, running in a fullscreen QT Player, and only at the end do you switch to a live version of Keynote. This would allow you to edit the final bit of the presentation in Keynote while the presentation runs (of course, the QT presentation can be made to work just like Keynote in advancing on click).

  • How do I make a Keynote presentation play on a DVD Player?

I finished a Keynote presentation for a client, who now wants to show the finished product on a TV using a DVD player. How can this be done? Do I need to run it through iMovie, or can I burn a DVD from Keynote? The client will be using the unit's remote control to stop-and-play.

I have never tried this, so I can't comment on the results, but in +Share>Send To+ there is an option for iDVD. You can decide to have the timing as Manual Advance, Recorded Timing or Fixed Timing.
If you do try this route, post back here and let us know how it works.

  • Can't save my Keynote presentation.

Whenever I save, I get an error message saying that Keynote can't save the document, and the following error is written to the console:
2/29/08 2:32:34 PM Keynote[180] Initializing drawable (SFDDrawableInfo), found orphaned style. Returning nil.
2/29/08 2:32:34 PM Keynote[180] SFAXMLUnarchiver could not initialize an object of class SFDDrawableInfo from node <info> (0x1b05e32c) named "BGBodyPlaceholderInfo-4", returning nil.
2/29/08 2:33:17 PM Keynote[180] Got exception Asked to encode nil object. trying to write.. Saying we can't save.
I can export to other formats (PDF, for example), but obviously, I'd like to save in Keynote format.
Any ideas? I'm using Keynote 4.0.2 running on Leopard 10.5.2.
    Thanks.

  • How do I show a Keynote presentation on a TV?

I made a Keynote presentation of photographs to be shown at a local museum. I burned it to a DVD and gave it to them. But they said it does not work on their DVD player. I made it into a QuickTime movie and tried to play it on a DVD player at Best Buy but it would not work either. How can I get my presentation to show on the museum's big screen flat TV? What format will work?

It is better if you make the presentation with iPhoto or Aperture, if you don't need to write on them (actually I do it even if I have to write something).
If you need to edit some slides, you can use Keynote and when you've done you just play it full screen and take a screenshot of the slide (Shift + Command + 3) then import it in iPhoto.
When the slideshow is ready, you will only have to export it to iDvd.
