How do i save my nano songs in iTunes?

I received my nano as a gift with about 150 songs on it. What I want to do is save these songs in my iTunes, but can't figure out how. There seems to be plenty of info on how to save iTunes songs on my nano, but not the other way around. Can I do this? Can anyone offer any help?

That is because it is intentionally not possible in iTunes. I'm pretty sure that whomever gave you the iPod with 150 songs on it did not include the CDs that those 150 songs came from nor buy them under your iTunes account for you specifically, so technically you probably have no right to listen to those songs in the first place.
Stealing music is highly frowned upon in these forums and the people here that know the iPod well enough to help anyone of out most problems won't touch this question with a ten foot pole!
It is best to create your own iTunes library from music you have purchased the right to listen to, and fill your iPod with legal music.

The easiest and most efficient way to copy your music is to follow the steps under the External drive section. Make sure that you have organized the iTunes library first before you copy it over. Then put the copied iTunes folder in the same Music folder on your computer.

This is the correct behavior. When you play a song, the play count and last played time gets updated. When you resync the iPod, the track gets copied to the iPod to update these new changed fields.
There is no fix for this, this is what it is supposed to do.

iTunes does not save your contacts. You can back them up with iCloud and/or sync them with an app on your compter. When you do a back up of your phone, contacts should be saved, but it's not guaranteed, and you would have to do a restore to get them back anyway. Might that new playlist be a smart playlist named something like "Recently Added"?
Yes, iTunes does create such a smart playlist and uses it to house recently downloaded songs.
If you want the songs to go to an existing playlist as well, set up the smart playlist to include rule(s) to include the latest additions.
