How do I save Mycroft plugins?

(I'm posting this here instead of on the Mycroft forum, because AFAICT, there is no Mycroft forum.) In my job, I frequently have to install Firefox on multiple computers for multiple people, and one of my customizations is to add a semi-standardized set of about a dozen different search engines. Currently, the way I do this is to go to mycroftproject.com after installing Firefox on the user's computer, and then run a search there for one of the plugins that the computer's owner needs - a search that typically returns a list of several dozen plugins. Next, I scan the returned list for the specific plugin I'm looking for, click on it, let it install, and start over for the next plugin on the list. Obviously, this wastes both my time and mycroftproject.com's CPU time. I know exactly what it is I want, but can't get to it except by running a search for it. Isn't there a way I could make a custom local collection of plugins that I could refer to without having to involve Mycroft's search function at all?

> Does that help?
Yes and no. I could do that, but that assumes that the Firefox installation I'm copying them from has all the most current versions of those plugins; plus I'd have to recopy them on a regular basis to keep them up to date for new installations; plus, I think that method might end up more time-consuming than my current one. What I was looking for was something like a way to construct a local copy of the Mycroft results page that listed all the plugins I use, and only those - but that still pointed to the Mycroft copies of those files. That way, I could navigate to that page from the new Firefox installation and just click on each link there to download and install all the latest versions of the plugins from Mycroft directly, without having to search for them on Mycroft each time.

    You can’t. You have upgrade or have whoever is send you files save as IDML. Don’t expect perfection.

  • How do I save a messages in text, NOT template or file?

    I want to be able to save an email from outlook, gmail, Hotmail, or any other format as a plain text or rich text message. Several of my emails are readable by TB24, but the only option for saving them is the Template or file. This is fine for those messages already in the mailbox, but if I can read an archived message in TB format, I should be able to save it in the same fashion. I guess a converter plugin is needed or a tutorial on how to properly save emails from other formats. Ex I open a folder containing an email from a past Outlook acct, The email can be deciphered by TB24, (ie it opens it), but when I try to save it to file(which gives options for format), it doesn't respond to my request!! Am I not doing something correctly or does the TB24 program "block" that function because of it is not in the TB24 mailbox? Baffling and frustrating when try to find a particular message from numerous formats. Thanks to all those who know more than I about this.

    '''File|Save As|File''' then in the resulting dialogue, choose "text" file type when saving. Of course in doing so you lose all formatting and attachments.
    How do you search and index messages when saved as independent and free-standing text files? I keep email correspondence within the email client specifically because the tools to manage and search are effective and efficient. In fact I occasionally email myself something that needs to be preserved simply because as email it is so easy and convenient to find and retrieve. Searching for text in documents in Windows has become a chore.
    I'm not at all sure why you want to open email messages from other environments in Thunderbird, only to save them as text files. But have you tried "Edit As New" to see if that will offer other save options?
    What format(s) are these other messages from outlook, gmail, windows live saved in then?
    Don't forget simple old select all, copy and paste to save message content in any other document type.

  • How do I save Lightroom image edits in source file?

    My experience with the trial version of lightroom is very positive in terms of the convenient and powerful capabilities for editing images and the associated metadata.  But I can't find a way to save the "develop" edits to images into the source file for the photo I am working with.  So far, I am able to save the metadata into the file but not the image editing.  From what I read, I fear this is not possible without silly round about exporting to new files then copying / moving multiple copies around, etc. Without this ability, I am pretty sure I will not purchase lightroom and will miss out on all the powerful features.  Without an OPTION that turns on the equivalent of a SAVE button, managing my photos collection would be a nightmare.
    So my question is: How do I save the edited (i.e., developed) version of a photo back into the same file where the original photo was stored?
    Please, please spare me all the reponses telling me how stupid I am for wanting to do this and that the cognisenti and professionals would NEVER do this.    But please just tell me there is a secret place to turn on this option in lightroom.
    Thanks in advance.

    I had the same requirement to save in JPEGs files all non-metadata edits performed in Lightroom, in order to share modified pictures without duplicating files. By the way, I think it’s going to be more and more required by casual Lightroom users, as people get used to instant photo sharing in many situations where quantity matters more than quality
    Here’s a nearly automatic (at least, scalable) solution that works, although it slightly lowers the quality by re-compressing the original pictures.
    Once for all:
    Download and install the wonderful Lightroom plugin “jf Run Any Command”, provided as donationware by Jeffrey Friedl here: http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/run-any-command. This “export filter” plugin allows you to run a command of your choice with each exported file, as part of the export while it’s going on. (You may also browse Jeffrey’s blog to find many other useful and beautiful things.)
    In Lightroom, pre-define an export settings as follows:
    Export to the hard drive, to the original picture folder, without adding the exported file to the catalog
    Name the exported file “EXPORTED-{Filename}” (or anything different from the original file name)
    JPEG format, 76% quality (see An Analysis of Lightroom JPEG Export Quality Settings at http://regex.info/blog/lightroom-goodies/jpeg-quality)
    Keep all metadata
    Here’s the interesting part, the Run Any Command settings:
    Command to execute for each exported picture: copy "{FILE}" "{Path}\{LIBRARYFILENAME}" (this replaces the original file with a copy of the exported file)
    Command to execute upon export completion: del {FILES} (this deletes all exported files).
    NB: One could wonder why not directly export with the original file name and silently replace the original files (I believe Lightroom would allow this). It’s just a matter of error handling: in case the export goes wrong, no original file is changed at all.
    The easy part: each time you want to save edits:
    In Lightroom, select the pictures to save, and export them with the pre-defined settings. You're almost done. The JPEG files are ok, but inside Lightroom you see the modification effects doubled, as their specifications remain in the catalog database and they apply on modified JPEG instead of the original files.
    While the entire set of "saved" pictures is still selected, in the Develop module switch Autosync on and click Reinit to erase all modification specifications from the catalog for all pictures, then press CTRL-S to write down to disk any metadata updated by Lightroom -and accept if required to confirm that Lightroom values should replace externally set values.
    Stephane
    PS: Papa Ben, I'm curious about the decision you  finally made

  • How do I make the plugin run automatically when a photo is imported?

    I am trying to write a new plugin where the metadata will be automatically added to the photo when I import the photo in the Lightroom.
    How do I make the plugin run automatically when a photo is imported?
    Thanks for  your help!
    Regards,

    As John said, there is no mechanism to receive notification of import. The likely recourse is continuous polling (unless you get very creative..).
    You can try optimizing. e.g.: every second (or less), see if the count has changed, if it's gone up, something's been imported, if not then probably not (check anyway once in a while..).

    How do I save the custom metadata with the image file?
    Lightroom 5 has the limitation, plugin  cannot link the custom metadata fields to XMP file or save them with image file.
    So, is there any alternative way to save the custom metadata?
    Yeah: Lightroom won't save custom metadata in xmp, nor read it if it's there, so you are pretty much on your own - you can save in a file, but if you save as non-standard sidecar Lr won't attend to it like it will jpg or xmp sidecar. For that reason it's often better to save in a separate dedicated location. You can save in image file itself, e.g. using exiftool if raw file, but that would make me nervous, and of course you'd have to have the logic to read it somewhere too..

  • How can I save filled Adobe Form?

    Hallo experts,
    I use Adobe Forms in my Webdypro application.
    In Form setPDFSourse set dynamically (read from SAP as byte[]) , I do not know the Context.
    How can I save filled Adobe Form, because I must show the Form by next Step in anothe window?
    Thank you very much!

    This sounds to me like a client-side problem whith adobe reader plugin in your browser. What is your reader version?
    You can try the following to check if there is any content in the byte[]:
    String s = wdContext.currentContextElement().getPdfData().length + "";
    byte[] test = s.getBytes();
    final IWDCachedWebResource resource =
                   WDWebResource.getWebResource(
                        test,
                        WDWebResourceType.TXT);
    try {
         final IWDWindow window =
         wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createExternalWindow(
              resource.getAbsoluteURL(),
              "Window title",
              false);
         window.open();
    } catch (Exception e) {
         wdComponentAPI.getMessageManager().reportException(
         new WDNonFatalException(e),
         false);

  • How can I save multiple titles under the same DVD?

    I use HandBrake to rip DVD's into iTunes. How can I save multiple titles under the same DVD? For instance, I have a Jimi Hendrix documentary that comes with special features, such as concert performances. I would like to have the main feature and the special features saved in my iTunes under the same title, perhaps as different 'tracks' (kind of like how different songs can be saved under the same album).
    Is there a way for me to do this, or am I chasing phantoms?

    *This response is for iPhoto 11 (v9). If you're using an earlier version, please post back and let us know. Troubleshooting steps are not the same for different versions. To find out which iPhoto you have: iPhoto Menu -> About iPhoto)*
    Duplicate the photo first. (Photos -> Duplicate). This means that you will have multiple copies of the master as well as the edited version.
    If you use versions like this often and wish to have only one master then you can do this with Aperture.

    Hello ryane84
    The easiest and most efficient way to copy your music is to follow the steps under the External drive section. Make sure that you have organized the iTunes library first before you copy it over. Then put the copied iTunes folder in the same Music folder on your computer.

    How do I save and import my bookmarks from another hard drive? When I try to open the installed Firefox on the old drive, it (obviously) opens a browser from the new main drive, free of bookmarks. Is there a way I can save the bookmarks on the old drive without opening a browser?
    The guts of my computer were rearranged and I got a new main hard drive. My old one is still in there and I can get stuff from it, but when I go to the Mozilla folder on the old one, I can't figure out if there's anything I can do to get all my bookmarks from that drive to my new one, where Firefox is newly installed.

    If you open Firefox then Firefox will always use the default profile folder as found via profiles.ini on your system drive.
    You either need to import the file in your current default profile or copy the file to your current profile folder while Firefox is closed.
    Firefox 3 stores the bookmarks and the browser history in [http://kb.mozillazine.org/places.sqlite places.sqlite] and no longer creates an HTML backup by default.
    There are also (five) JSON backups in the bookmarkbackups folder within the Firefox profile folder.
    You can either copy the file places.sqlite to your [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder] or import the most recent JSON backup from the bookmarkbackups folder of that old profile.
    See:
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Backing_up_and_restoring_bookmarks_-_Firefox
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
    "Application Data" in XP/Win2K and "AppData" in Vista/Windows 7 are hidden folders.
    See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Show_hidden_files_and_folders
    Go to: Control Panel > Folder Options > "View" tab > under "Hidden files and folders", select "Show hidden files and folders".
    You may want to un-check the box "Hide extensions for known file types" to see the file extensions of all files.

  • How do you save voice memos

    How do you save voice memos, and use them as ringtones or text tones?

    From the Users Guide:
    Syncing Voice Memos
    iTunes syncs voice memos to your iTunes library when you connect iPod touch to
    your computer. This lets you listen to voice memos on your computer and provides a
    backup if you delete them from iPod touch.
    Voice memos are synced to the Voice Memos playlist. iTunes creates the playlist if it
    doesn’t exist. When you sync voice memos to iTunes, they remain in the Voice Memos
    app until you delete them. If you delete a voice memo on iPod touch, it isn’t deleted
    from the Voice Memos playlist in iTunes. However, if you delete a voice memo from
    iTunes, it is deleted from iPod touch the next time you sync with iTunes.
    You can sync the iTunes Voice Memos playlist to the Music app on iPod touch using
    the Music pane in iTunes.
    Sync the Voice Memos playlist to iPod touch:
    1 Connect iPod touch to your computer.
    2 In iTunes, select iPod touch in the Devices list.
    3 Select Music at the top of the screen.
    4 Select the “Include voice memos” checkbox and click Apply.
    Some users have had to create the Voice Memos playlist since it did not get automatically created.

    How do I save PDF files by default to the folder of the source file with Acrobat 9.0.0 Standard?

    I am not seeing that behaviour. If I right-click a link to a .pdf file, I get the file saved with the original filename.
    Maybe one of the settings in about:config controls that?
    pdfjs.previousHandler.preferredAction is a setting that has a value of 4 with my setup. I have no idea what that means, and I could not find any explanation anywhere. You could try using different numbers for that value and see if any make any difference. Why has nobody bothered to explain that setting anywhere?
