How do I save or restore all of my tab groups (preferably 1 operation)?
I would like to save all of my tab groups, both for backup purposes but also for migration to another computer. How can I do this as a single operation?
The same consideration would apply to restoring all the tab groups from a previously saved session.
Eric
App tabs and Tab Groups (Panorama) are stored as part of the session data in the file [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Firefox Profile Folder]
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Session_Restore
You can make a backup copy of that file.

How Do I save and restore keywords, categories and tags in PE6?
I have my photos backed up on an external hard drive, but if and when my hard drive crashes, how do I get back the tags, keywords, categories, etc. that I have used in the PE 6 Organizer? Can I save them and, if so, when I need to restore this, how do I do that? How do I reconnect tags, categories, keywords, etc. with photos that I re-import after a hard drive crash?
John: Many thanks for this help. I use CS3, but my mom has PE6 and I'm trying to help her. I'm not as familiar with PE6.
Again, thanks,
Mark

Subject: How Do I save and restore keywords, categories and tags in PE6?
PSE keeps your keywords, categories, albums, stacks, version sets, captions, notes, dates, and star ratings in a file in a "catalog folder". (Do Help > System Info to find the location of your catalog folder). When you make a backup with the PSE File > Backup command, it copies all your photos and the catalog file into the backup. When you restore from that backup, it copies that catalog file and all your photos to the location you specify.

How can I save and restore a Screen ?
Hi all,
I'd like to know how could I save an entire screen or part of it and restore it later.
I have an application using full-screen mode and I draw every component that I need. So, there are times when I draw a component just to show a message and after I need the screen as it was before I draw the message.
I'm not working with Swing components. It's not a "typical" application, because every component that is showed I really draw it. So I don't have events and repaint is controlled by my application.
That's why I need to save the Screen before show a dialog box, for example, and then restore the screen, making the box disappear.
thanks !It's a very long, long history. Believe me.
In theory, I really could use normal components, but in practice, I will get a better final result, even if it will cost some extra work.
I've been reading about BufferedImage, VolatileImage and so on, but I didn't concatenated the ideas yet, or didn't read so much as necessary.
So... my question is still in the air ! :-))
Thank you Rich. -
How can I turn off restoring all windows on restart?
Lion restores all my windows and applications when it restarts my computer. Is there any way to turn that feature off?
This "feature" is really annoying. For years I have set my computer to shut down around midnight and then start itself up again at 6:00 AM. It's a habit, I guess. I just don't like waking up to a mess of opened applications and half-read browser articles. Makes me crazy. I also really don't like opening Word or Excel to the last few documents or spreadsheets I last worked on. I don't understand why Apple thought this was a good idea. Does anybody know any code to turn these "features" off?

Using HP Pavilion Dv7 with Windows Home Premium, 64bit, and only now and then will FF4.0.1 restore previous (normal) session after returning from a private browsing session, )I use the Quit Private Browsing menu item from the Toolbar right-click menu to go back).... In addition, previously Pinned sites (apps) are lost also, and all must be re-added.
Inconsistent failure and I've not been able to reliably reproduce-- sometimes (about 4-6 times in 10) it just loses all previous information.I would add that bookmarks may be organised into folders and subfolders. You may wish to make more use of bookmarks if only to ensure you do not loose everything if your session restore becomes problematic.
Bookmarks are a bit more robust than the session restore system. Firefox backs them up automatically and you may do so manually. Possibly Firefox will behave better and faster with hundreds of bookmarks but only tens of tabs open. There is also the tabs groups, but that is something I think development has ceased on and may have similar issues to session restore / or open tabs.

HT2486 How do I save a bunch of addresses as a group
How do I save a bunch of addresses as a group
Hello there, Mark.
It seems you were referred to us from the very Knowledge Base article that provides the steps you're looking for:
Mac Basics: Address Book.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2486
Particularly:
If you want to address a group of people in an email instead of entering all their email addresses, create a group. From the File menu, choose New Group and enter a name for the group. Select the All Contacts group, to view all of your contacts. Then drag names from the contact list onto your new group in the group list.
You can also create a Smart Group, a group that automatically updates itself if any contact fits the same search criteria you set for a Smart Group. To create a Smart Group, choose New Smart Group from the Filemenu, type a name in the Smart Group Name field, set your search criteria using the pop-up menus and fields. For example, choose Company from the first pop-up menu and type a company name in the field to create a Smart Group for people at that company, and click OK. Any contacts that match your search criteria will become part of this Smart Group.
If you frequently send email to a group of people, such as all your coworkers,
create a Smart Group, which automatically updates on its own
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

How can I move folders full of favorites to tab groups w/o reopening all those sites?
I have many folders full of website pages in my IE favorites. Some more used folders are on my favorites bar--I click and it drops down a menu of all sites saved. I click one to go to that favorite.
It would be difficult to use the bookmarks menu to go through cascading menus to get to my folders. I want to put them on tabs.
However I don't want to have to reopen each folder's 30 or more web pages to get them on the tab group. It would take many hours. Is there a way to create a tab group from a list of bookmarks?Hi Nemonic,
To avoid typing the long full path every time, you can try to run the cmdlet set-location to set the current location as powershell working location, then you can use ".\" to represent the default root folder path.
To set folder permission in powershell, please refer to the cmdlet "Set-Acl":

If you want to achieve this without script, please post the issue in Windows server General forum:

How can I save a Numbers spreadsheet as a tab delimited file?
Okay, I would like to save a Numbers spreadsheet as a tab delimited file. But of course I can't do that, since Numbers only saves as a comma separated values file.
Plan B: I can open up a CSV file created by Numbers in TextEdit, and I would like to Find and Replace all the commas with tabs. So I open up the Find window, enter a comma under Find, but of course when I put the cursor in the Replace blank and hit the Tab key, it just goes to the next blank instead of giving me a Tab.
Is there a way I can get a Tab into that blank so I can replace all the commas with tabs?
--DaveHello
When we use TextEdit as I described, rows are separated by Returns.
It appears that your program requires LineFeeds.
Here is a neat soluce.
Save this script as an Application Bundle.
--\[SCRIPT tsv2csv]
(* copy to the clipboard a block of datas separated by tabs
run the script
You will get on the desktop a csv file named from the current date-time.
The values separator is set to match the Bento's requirements:
If the decimal separator is period, the script uses commas.
If the decimal separator is comma, the script uses semi-colons.
This may be changed thru the setting of the property maybeSemiColon.
According to the property needLF,
embedded Returns will be replaced by LineFeeds
or
embedded LineFeeds will be replaced by Returns

I've verified that I have the start up option set to only show homepage, but Firefox continues to restore all my tabs from my last session. I've even changed the startup option to 'blank page' but to no avail. Firefox seems to be ignoring the startup option entirely.

I recently set up a new computer. Signing into Sync restored my bookmarks but not my Firefox windows and tab groups. I can get a LIST of "Tabs From Other Devices" to show up, but what I want to do is to restore the session from my previous computer. Is it possible to do this with Sync? How to Create, Save and Restore a Custom Catalog in PE 6?
I am having great difficulty in trying to create a custom catalog using the organizer function of PE 6. Upon opening the organizer I have many photos already depicted in it. So, I highlight them all and delete them obtaining a blank screen with no photos. I then import the file containing only the custom photos I want to catalog. I then backup this catalog using the following procedure http://www.backuphowto.info/how-to-backup-adobe-photoshop-elements-6-catalogue Everything looks fine until I try to restore it at a future time. It doesn't restore! In fact I can browse to the saved file but am unable to get the locate backup file location to change to it??
What am I doing wrong and can anyone help me acheive my objective of creating a custom catalog that I can save and retrieve intact for later use?
Thanks, in advance, for any help provided. Oh, and I need to add I am relatively new to PE 6 having only previously used PE 4 and never used the organizer in it which is to say - lead me very simply please.

I can't imagine the purpose of a "custom catalog". Seems to me you have done a lot of work when I am 100% sure there is an easier way to do whatever it is you are trying to accomplish. Further, it seems like you are trying to create a backup of only some of your photos, and I can't imagine the purpose of that either ... I would presume you would want to make backups of your entire collection of photos.
Just as a general rule, there usually isn't a good reason to have more than one catalog (unless you have separate categories of photos, like personal and work).
Everything looks fine until I try to restore it at a future time. It doesn't restore!
Can you give us a detail or two about what happens when "it doesn't restore"? Can you give us more details about what you actually did? And most importantly, can you describe what you see on the screeN? Screen captures would be even better. -
Not going with computers. Trying to figure out how to save Ai RAW file with colors/fonts etc. Currently saves, but does not have colors and font information.
When you say "Colors/Fonts" are not saved, I'm not sure what you mean. How have you determined they were not saved?
Also, not sure what a "RAW" AI file is. I assume you mean simply a native format .ai file.
.ai will save all font and color information. It does not "embed" fonts, but it saves what fonts were used and will call the correct fonts when reopened (assuming fonts are available on the system).
CC 2014 also has a "Package" feature that will collect assets (fonts and images) into a central folder for easy distribution. -
My hard drive is failing. I am having it replaced. I will then be installing Windows 7 and applications including CS5.5. In addition to the thumbnails, I have a lot of metadata, keywords, collections, and stacks etc. in Bridge and I hope I do not have to lose it all and start from scratch. I had been using a disk image backup system which would have allowed me to restore the entire contents of the drive bit for bit, but the backups started to fail when the hard drive began to fail. So I have to back up or copy specific folders. Does anyone know how I should go about this?
Metadata and keywords are stored in the files themselves.
Don't know about Stacks.
Collections, keyword lists and workspaces are stored in c:\Users\<your name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge version\ -
How do I save and restore Session?
Is it possible to have a user leave the site for a period of
time, say 2 or 3 days, and when they come back, restore their last
session and all the session variables? I have an idea of building a
database and writing them all to the db on each page load with the
last visited page, and then resetting from that on their next
visit, but is there an easier way through Cold Fusion that I'm not
aware of? Any assistance is apprecaited.I had a client that had hundreds of session variables
scattered in hundreds of CF pages. There was very little CFLOCKing,
and consequently the apps were quite unstable in a loaded
environment.
What I finally did was to copy the session scope variables to
ses.request scope variables of the same name, then did a global
replace of session. with ses.request. In OnRequestEnd.cfm, and
immediately before all CFLOCATIONs, I copied ths ses.request scope
back to session scope (locked, of course). There was no measurable
performance hit, and the apps were rock solid.
Perhaps you could copy your client variables to session
scope; then back again in OnRequestEnd.cfm
