How do I save the open tabs when I close Firefox 5? There should be a dialog box opens that asks if you want to do this. Without it I will stop using Firefox.

This was available in earlier versions and was a great feature. Please restore it or give us a workaround.

It seems that they decided to disable this feature by default for some reason. In your address bar, type in "about:config" and search for browser.showQuitWarning" in the filter, without quotes. Double-click this string to set it to "true." Firefox should then ask you if you would like to save and quit, or just quit, when exiting with multiple tabs opened.
Another option is to go to the "General" tab in your preferences and and under "Startup" -> "When Firefox starts," select "Show my windows and tabs from last time" from the drop-down list. This way, your opened tabs are always saved, and always restored.
Finally, you can achieve this functionality (and more) with the Session Manager add-on. Session Manager is nice because it allows you to save and restore multiple tab sessions. I also find that it's a more reliable fail-safe for saving your opened tabs when it comes to browser crashes.

  • Im looking to have my albums in one place and my singles in the other. so when I click my music there should be my albums and my singles

im looking to have my albums in one place and my singles in the other. so when I click my music there should be my albums and my singles. can I do this

As tt2 says, iTunes regards everything as being part of an album.  However, you could use playlists or playlist folders to group your library as required ... one possibility would be to use the Grouping field, setting this to "Album" for everything you want to see as an album, and "Single" for singles, and then set up smart playlists that select on the appropriate Grouping value.

  • When exiting browser a warning box appears that says do you want to clear all browser data, i would like to disable that

started about 2 weeks ago, have searched for answer but can't find, probably staring me in the face, after I'm done on the net and go to exit a warning box appears and asks do you want to clear all browser data and whether you choose ok or cancel it does anyway

hello, there are certain addons that have such functionality - do you have any privacy-related extensions in use?

  • How do i make it so it ask me to save all open tabs when i close firefox.

it use to do this automatically when i had the old Firefox but now it never ask i like this feature and would like to know were it is hidden in new Firefox or if it is no longer available is there a add-on that does the same thing

Firefox 4 and later versions save the previous session automatically, so there is no longer need for the dialog asking if you want to save the current session.<br />
Use "File > Exit" or "Firefox > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit Firefox") if you want to restore multiple windows.<br />
You can use "History > Restore Previous Session" to get the previous session at any time.<br />
You may need to click the orange/gray Firefox button to see History.<br />
There is also a "Restore Previous Session" button on the default <b>about:home</b> Home page.<br />
    Another possibility is to use:

  • How can I visit the performance tab when the target DB is down?

    Hi, All:
I wonder if it is possible to visit the performance tab when the target DB is down. I thought it should be possible. But whenever I first click the performance tab, I will be asked to enter the user/passwd for the target db(I have set the preferred credentials).
Furthermore, is it possible to analyze the history sql/performance if the target db is not startup? and how can I do it?
    Thanks in advance

I have seen other postings by the same ID and my suggestion is that you have a look at the Enterprise Manager Documentation Library. After that, you can ask questions relating to subjects you cannot solve with the documentations.

  • I could previously open my itunes program on my computer. Not now as when it asks, Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer and I select, Yes, it shuts down.  I have removed and re-installed itunes, checked firewall. Pls help

I could previously open my itunes program on my computer and sync with ipad, ipod and iphone but no longer. When I select itunes a dialogue box opens  with question - "Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer"  When I select YES, it just shuts down.   I have removed and reinstalled itunes. have checked firewall and spent hours trying to fix. Please help.

A possible cause of this error is that Firefox is set to run as Administrator.
Check that Firefox isn't set to run as Administrator.
Right-click the Firefox desktop shortcut and choose "Properties".
Make sure that all items are deselected in the "Compatibility" tab of the Properties window.
    * Privilege Level: "Run this program as Administrator" should not be selected
    * "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" should not be selected
Also check the Properties of the firefox.exe program in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

  • How can I eliminate the "new tab" when I open Firefox to my preset Home Page?

I have Firefox installed on a desktop and a netbook. On the desktop, when I launch Firefox it takes me to my homepage, and that is the only tab open. On the netbook, it opens to the homepage correctly, but there is also a second, blank tab, carrying the header "New Tab", just as though I had clicked on the "New Tab" icon in the toolbar. Since my homepage is a specialized search engine which opens each result in a new tab of its own, having the blank one already in place is annoying. How do I stop it from opening on launch?

Make sure that there isn't a pipe symbol appended to the home page setting.

  • How can I save my open tabs when I close FF4. FF3 gave me the option to save and quit when closing.

I use multiple tabs every day and they are for the most part the same tabs on Fire Fox 3.6. When I closed my FF3 at the end of the day I had the option of saving my tabs so the would open again the next day.
On FF4 I no longer have this option. Now it just warns me I'm closing 7 tabs. No option like before.

One change in Firefox 4 is to by default stop Firefox displaying the warning message, but it can be turned back on by changing some preferences.
    # Type '''about:config''' into the location bar and press enter
    # Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
    # Locate the preference '''browser.tabs.warnOnClose''', if its value is set to '''false''', double-click on it to change its value to '''true'''
    # Repeat this for these 3 preferences '''browser.warnOnQuit''', '''browser.warnOnRestart''' and '''browser.showQuitWarning'''

  • How can I get Firefox to stop saving the open tabs when it closes and reinstating them the next time it opens?

Even tho' I've set options for Firefox to delete history when it closes, it still remembers my open tabs and tries to reinstate them the next time it starts. This causes two problems: 1) it takes longer for Firefox to close, such that if I start it again a few sec later it is still running and won't restart; 2) it sometimes reopens websites I am no longer want when it next starts. The latter also makes the last sites I visited visible to the next user, which I (and I suspect most other users) want to avoid. I would like to turn this feature off since it is far more of a problem than a benefit!

    @cor-el
    I have the same problem.
My settings are already configured to "Show a blank page". It does show a blank page normally, but when FF crashes, it attempts to reload all the tabs from the previous session when it restarts. My version is: Firefox/3.6.13, and I'm running XP sp3 if that matters.

  • Can you bypass the window that asks if you want to open or save attachments? I always open them the same way.

I would like to be able to turn off the window that asks me if I want to Open this file or Save it. I get many attachments from the same place and I would like to be able to bypass this window, as I always do the same thing -- open it.

Deleted it, restarted it. tried it again. no change. repeated the whole cycle. no change. thinking about uninstalling and reinstalling, but that won't reallyk change the settings.

  • Disable pop-ups; or enable pop-up blocker...or I will stop using FireFox

Every page on Mozilla FireFox has pictures and moving images and advertisements and junk pop-up spam all over the page (at least 9 boxes of JUNK all over each page, that "frame" the page---[[..3 on the left..3 on the right...3 on the top]]...leaving only a tiny window view of the actual website or webpage I am intending to visit. I've already gone into my FireFox settings and selected disable popups...prevent popup blocker...been all through my FireFox settings, etc.
I use Google Chrome and Windows Internet Explorer as internet web browsers...and do not experience those annoying issues with Google Chrome or Windows Explorer. I have my firewall settings set to "high" and have a security system in place. It's only my experience that when I open Mozilla Firefox...there are "blinking captions" and pictures all over the page. Even if I lightly scroll over them, sometimes, it will automatically open a new window, and cause a complete disruption and interruption to my business and internet experience. I am ready to uninstall Mozilla Firefox and tell everyone I know not to use Firefox, at this point, because it is full of spam and security risks.
Do you have any solutions to offer/provide...and within a timely matter?
If I do not receive a valid response within a week, I will proceed with uninstalling and suggest that others do the same.
    Thanks.

That's pretty extreme. I don't think I've read about any other reports that bad.
As a quick test of whether it might be caused by an add-on, could you go through these screens and disable everything except Flash (Shockwave Flash 11.6):
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Plugins category<br>
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons > Extensions category
    Does that make any difference?
Also, if you are using custom connection settings, try changing those here:
(WIN) orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced<br>
    (MAC) Firefox > Preferences > Advanced<br>
(LINUX) Edit > Preferences > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab, click the Settings button. To use the default connection used by IE, choose "No Proxy" or "Use System proxy settings". You may have to restart Firefox before that takes effect.
    If none of that helps:
Could you describe the sequence of events leading up to this problem. When does the trouble start and can you associate it with following links, using bookmarks, typed URLs, etc.? For example, when you first start Firefox, do you get a normal about:home Firefox start page, or is it already crawling with ads? If you go directly to a link like https://www.google.com/ does it appear correctly?

  • Is the pop up window that asks if you want your Mac cleaned up really from Apple?

We have been receiving a lot of pop up windows whenever using our new Mac and it always asks if we want to clean up our Mac and then the box says "Continue".  I am very suspecious of this and cannot find out if it is for real and don't want to select it to see what happens.  Can anyone help give info on this?  From looking at other discussions, apparently others are also receiving this.  Thank you, Noel

Of course not, and it probably comes from an application called MacKeeper, which is useless. See > https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3691
OS X has got its own maintenance scripts to keep your computer work correctly, so there's no need for cleaning apps.
To get rid of those messages, remove all the temporary files from Safari. Open Safari, go to Safari menu (on the menu bar) > Preferences > Privacy, and choose Remove All Private Data

  • HT1202 when i check "manually manage" there is no "resulting dialog box" to click "ok" in. why? what do i do now?

How do I sync my phone with itunes from a second computer. Ive tried to change my setting to "manually manage music" but there is NOT a "resulting dialog box to click "ok" in and instead the same old box pops up offering to delete everything w my sync. what purpose does that serve? this is not user friendly! how often do you want to wipe out everything in your library? really? someone please tell me what to do before I stomp all over this phone!

wjosten is right, the iPhone is designed to only sync with a single computer and iTunes library.  Whenever you try to switch, iTunes will always erase all iTunes media from the phone first, then replace it with the media of the new library you are attempting to sync with.  You can authorize your Apple ID on 5 computers, allowing them to sync your purchased content, but this doesn't override the requirement that a single iPhone can only sync with a single computer at a time, and have it's iTunes media replaced when you change.
If all your iTunes media is on the computer you are trying to sync with you have nothing to fear, as it will simply be synced back to your phone again after it is initially removed.  If it isn't, you'll have to settle for the media that is in this iTunes library.  If you want to add media from a second computer, import it to iTunes on the computer you normally sync with rather than trying to sync with both computers.
