How do I save to individual folders on my hard drive?

How do I save items to individual folders on my hard drive? When I try now it shows the Macintosh HD icon as an option but not the individual folders I've created there. I think I need to go in to Automator but I must be doing something wrong. I selected "Folder Action" then added several items about PDF
documents and add photos to album. I've specified Macintosh HD as the location and hit run.
It appears to have run correctly because it asks me if I want to save the results. A friend of mine runs several web sites. He has asked me to serve as his off site backup so I'm trying to download several years of material. Saving everything to the HD and then dragging each item to where it belongs will take forever.
I'm hoping someone can help.
Thanks Bill

The same way you save ANY email attachment... which is going to depend on the email program you use... so check with support for your email program (or the help file to learn how to save an attachment)
When you OPEN a PDF attachment, what program are you using... Acrobat or Reader... both have options to save files

  • How can I save my iphone backup on my hard drive?

    Hi Guys!
I would like to save my iphone backup on my hard drive cause I don't have enough space on my computer...
Could you help me? How can I select on itune where I want to save it??
    Cheers
    Alex

    Hey there alexsansdrap.c,
I see that you want to find where your iTunes backups are saved in order to transfer them to your external hard drive. You can find the location of the save files by using the information in the following article:
Create and delete iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch backups in iTunes - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204269
    Where your backups are stored
The folder where your backup data is stored depends on your computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in these places:
    Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your Home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
    Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then press Return.
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, then choose Run. In the search bar, type %appdata%, then click OK.
Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • How do I save a webpage image to my hard drive to be printed later offline

I am only able to go online from my laptop at a location away from my printer therefore I cannot directly print from a website to my printer. I need to save the webpage image to my hard drive to print offline at a later time

It is probably best to install a print driver for that printer and use print to file to avoid losing content as that can happen if you save a page to disk.

    Let the file completely download.
Depending on the play controller you'll either see a downward pointing arrow at the right end (click it to save a copy) or no downward pointing arrow (in which case you right click on the player window).

  • How Do I Copy File Names & Folders From A Hard Drive To A Word Document?

    Hi Gang:
This may sound silly but I am having a herd time with the following - seemingly simple task.
I have data DVD-Rs with audio files organized into folders. Each folder contains audio files related to the folder name.
I would like to copy the file names and folders from a DVD-R and paste them into a MS Word file. I am just looking to get a listing of files as they appear on the DVD-Rs in their folders.
The problem is that when I copy and paste, the order changes (seemingly randomly) and the file names are no longer under the folder names. In fact, the whole thing looks to be really random.
Anybody know how to copy file/folder names from a hard drive or DVD-R to a word document and retain the file/folder structure?
    Thanks!
    LAHD

There is an even easier method with no Terminal magic required. In the Finder, select all the files you want the names of, press Command-C, switch to Word and press Command-V. Poof, your done.
If you view the DVD in List VIew, you can expand the folders you want the files for, then select all the files (and their folders if you want them too) and then do the Copy/Paste thing.

  • How can I save a cast member to the hard drive?

    Hi,
I am using 'canvas' from the Paintbox library.
I found a line of code on the forum to create a 'new' cast member.
Now, I'd like to save that new cast member to the hard drive.
BuddyApi doesn't have an option to do that, and I haven't had any luck with the Xtras lists I've found.
    How can I accomplish this?
Thanks in advance for your assistance,
    BigDaddy

To elaborate, this is how you would call the Xtra in your code:
-- create the instance of the xtra
    objImg = xtra("ImgXtra").new()
-- get the member's image we want to save
    imgToSave = member("foobar").image
-- set the path and filename for the bitmap
    strFileName = the moviePath & "foobar.jpg"
-- call the ix_saveImage method, with required parameters
success = objImg.ix_saveImage(["image": imgToSave, "filename": strFileName])
-- returns 1 if successful, 0 if not
    if success then
       -- something here
    else
       -- something else here
    end
-- clear the xtra object instance
    objImg = VOID
The other optional parameters such as format and flags can be set, if you like, and the info can be found in the imgXtra.txt document.

  • How can I save my photos on a removable hard drive for easy viewing?

I just got a brand new Macbook Pro and I wanted to transfer some of the photos from my old computer over to my new computer (from a My Passport removable hard drive), but I found that this wasn't possible with how I had saved then with iPhoto.  I now have all of my photos on my new computer, but don't want to waste all that space.  How can I save the photos I don't want on this computer to my removable hard drive for easy viewing?  When I look at the removable hard drive now, it's saved altogether as iPhoto Library, so I can't just see certain ones...

While in iphoto, hold down the command key and select all the pics you want to move. Once all the pics are selected, release the command key and select export from the file menu. Iphoto will present a dialog box where you can select the quality of the pics before exporting. Then export them to whereever you would like. If you want to put them on an external HD then select that. When you wish to view them, you can use preview or right click on any pic and choose which program to open them with. After doing this if you no longer want them in iphoto then delete them and make sure to empty the trash in iphoto after doing so.

  • How do I save premier elements12 photoalbum  to external hard drive?

How do I save a premier elements 12 photoalbum (rather than just photos in an album) to an external hard drive?

    Geoff
My suggestion for saving some Elements Organizer photos in a folder on the computer desktop.
    1. Create an empty folder on your computer desktop by right clicking a clear space on the desktop and selecting New, followed by Folder
Next to Elements Organizer 12, with the photos already with thumbnails there,
hold down the Shift key of the computer main keyboard and click one by one the photos (thumbnails)  that you want to use.
The photo wanted will now all be selected.
Then, with the photos selected, go to File Menu/Export As New Files to bring up the Export New Files dialog...
In the Export New Files Dialog...
FILE TYPE..............dot the "Use Original Format"
SIZE and Quality.....will be grayed out.
LOCATION: Use the Browse to navigate to your desktop folder which we have named in this example as "Elements Organizer Photos", and select it so that the location appears in the Export New Files Dialog Location field.
    FILENAMES...........dot "Original Names".
The Export New Files Dialog should look like the following just before you hit Export.
Now look for copies of your selected photos in the desktop folder named Elements Organizer Photos.
Please review and consider. It should work for you. If not, please let me know where it fails, and then I will find out where we are doing things differently.
    Thanks.

  • How to route iTunes to music folders on external hard drive?

Here's my story: Three years ago, I successfully rerouted iTunes so that the program would find my music library on external hard drive. Two days ago, my Apple MacBook computer was updated to the Lion operating system. iTunes was also updated.
Now I have to go back into iTunes and give the program new instruction to go find the music files on external hard drive.
    Details:
My folder on external hard drive, called "iTunes Music," contains various music files and also, I notice, a folder called "iTunes."
Within that "iTunes" folder, the following folders or files are located:
    FOLDER: Album Artwork
    FOLDER: Automatically Add to iTunes
    FILE: iTunes Library Extras.itdb
    FILE: iTunes Library Genius.itdb
    FILE: iTunes Library.itl
    FILE: iTunes Linrary.xml
    FOLDER: iTunes Media
None of this makes any sense to me!
Meanwhile, on the computer's hard drive, following this routing, in the folder called "iTunes," the following folders and files are located:
Users -- Hard Drive -- Music -- iTunes
    FOLDER: Album Artwork
    FOLDER: Album Artwork 6.29.26 PM
    FOLDER: Automatically Add to iTunes
    FILE: iTunes Library 6.29.26 PM
    FILE: iTunes Library Extras.itdb
FILE: iTunes Library Extras.itdb 6.29.26 PM
    FILE: iTunes Library Genius.itdb
FILE: iTunes Library Genius.itdb 6.29.26 PM
    FILE: iTunes Library.itl
    FOLDER: iTunes Media
    FOLDER: iTunes Media 6.29.26 PM
FILE: iTunes Music Library 6.29.26 PM.xml
    FILE: iTunes Music Library.xml
I do not understand any of this. I do not understand WHICH FILE OR FOLDER I should instruct iTunes to go to in order to find the desired music files.
Once the desired files are found, they should appear in the iTunes window on screen. This is not happening.
I have tried holding down the Option key while starting iTunes, which yields a window that asks for me to CHOOSE LIBRARY. I choose the iTunes library file ( iTunes Library.itl) that is located on external hard drive. However, NOTHING HAPPENS. iTunes does not do anything. When the program opens, nothing is visible in the iTunes window, where normally songs are listed. No playlists on the lefthand side. NOTHING.
Thanks for your attention and for any insight you might be able to share.

Just so people know, there's already been several posts on this in this forum:  https://discussions.apple.com/message/18642460

  • How can I save a project to an external hard-drive?

    Hey guys,
I'm trying to clean out my computer and I want to move a finished project to an external hard-drive (while still being able to edit in the future if I choose)... How can I do this, and once I accomplish the task would I be able to delete everything that was on my internal hard-drive?

Use FCP's Media Manager to copy to the external drive. Once copied and you verify everything is OK, you can delete the original files.

I have tried to do that with my HP Simple Save external hard drive and the songs show up as gibberish.
I see lots of blogs on the internet of people with the same problem.  Surely after having invested in these songs, there
should be a way to make sure they are safe.  HELP!  I am desperate.  Try getting help directly from Apple support.....

    Hello ryane84
The easiest and most efficient way to copy your music is to follow the steps under the External drive section. Make sure that you have organized the iTunes library first before you copy it over. Then put the copied iTunes folder in the same Music folder on your computer.
