How do I save tracks in order to format ipod from Mac to windows?

I have been given an ipod that was originally used on a Mac but i have Windows. Is there any way I can save the tracks before formatting it ?
When i plug in the ipod to my computer it only gives me the option of formatting it.
There are some 11 g's of music and i can't bear to lose it.
If backed up the music on a Mac could I then re-load the tracks from it once the ipod has been formatted for Windows?

Yes you could, Macs can read Windows formatted iPods. If you only have the songs on the iPod, and have any iTMS purchases the transfer of purchased content from the iPod to authorised computers was introduced with iTunes 7. The transfer of non iTMS content such as songs imported from CD is designed by default to be one way from iTunes to iPod. However there's a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to your Mac. If you prefer something more automated there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve music files and playlists from your iPod, this is just a selection. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too, you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well. I used to use my Ipod on a mac, so it will not connect to my ituens on my new computer that is a Pc with Windows Vista. If your iPod is formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because Windows operating systems don't recognize Mac OS-formatted disks (HFS or HFS Plus formats). However there are third party programs that will allow you to use a Mac formatted iPod on Windows. XPlay and MacDrive for instance get good reviews. In Premiere Elements 13/13.1, your export choices are in the Publish+Share section of the project. There are several choices and sub-choices.
Example: Publish+Share/Computer/and then a list of choices under that, such as, MPEG, AVI, AVCHD, XAVC-S, Windows Media, QuickTime, Image, Audio.
And each has Presets which define the export settings. Adobe offers default settings which are usually optimized ones. But, it also allows you to customize the preset selected. You do that by clicking on the Advanced Button of the selected preset and customizing the settings under the Video Tab, Audio Tab, and, if applicable, Multiplexer Tab.
From what you wrote, I thought that you might be asking about exporting a video with a video codec = Photo JPEG.
To do that you would to to
Publish+Share
Computer
QuickTime
with Presets = either the one for 4:3 of 16:9 as appropriate for your project,
and then clicking on the Advanced Button, and then the Video Tab under the Advanced Button.
Then selecting Photo JPEG for the video codec field.
Tip: The QuickTime choice is not seen unless you scroll down the list of Computer choices. Use the thin scroll bar to the right of the Computer choices.
Please explore Premiere Elements 13/13.1's Publish+Share/Disc/DVD with standard or widescreen preset for your creation of the DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc.
The Premiere Elements timeline destined for this choice could consistent of supported photos and or videos.

Hi,
If your data is in an array, the easiest way is to use the ArrayToFile function.
It automatically creates a file and puts your data in it according to the format you provide.
If you have individual samples that you need to write once in a while, you can either collect them into an array and then use ArrayToFile or open a file with fopen and write them as they are acquired with fwrite.

There is no Apple provided way to save text messages to a computer.
The iPhone backup done via iTunes or iCloud, will backup the messages but they are not accessible on the computer.
A google search may reveal options to saving the messages to the computer.

You can't use iCloud like that. It isn't a general file storage service; it's designed to sync data across your devices.
Some options are to sync all your music or other media off your device, then sync it back on after you update. Another is to import your photos to your computer (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083), then sync them back to your phone after you update by putting them in a folder, then selecting the folder on the Photos tab of your iTunes sync settings and syncing.

Right click on your device in the device list and choose "transfer purchases", this will copy all bought media from the iTunes store to your computer.
