Hey y'all, just downloaded elements12 and figured out some of what I want to accomplish but I'll be damned if I can figure out how to save my pic once I crop it. Any hep out there??

Same way you save in any other program. File>Save or ctrl+s/cmd+s.

I have accidentally "disconnected" from the Internet in Airport Utility. How do I reverse what I have done? I clicked on the globe and clicked where it said "connected" and now it says "disconnected" HELP!

markwmsn, In the Airport Utility on my iPad I clicked on the globe at the top of the screen and over to the side there was the word "Connected". I clicked on it and it changed to read "Disconnected". At that point I started having Internet connection problems. All of the extremes (2) and expresses (6) I have spread throughout my home at first were green, but then began to either turn yellow, like the globe had, or disappear from the screen. Even though the globe remained yellow I went through the house and reset all the other devices. I was sure the problems were caused by my clicking on the word " Connected" and changing it to " Disconnected". I clicked on "Disconnected", but nothing happened. I called and wrote my ISP to ask them to reset the server serving my home. I got a call few hours later telling me that there had been an outage in my area, so I began thinking that perhaps there had been a coincidental occurrence of me clicking "Connected" and there being a service outage in my area. Needless to say I've decided to never click that word again for fear of the problem really being my actions.
If you can shed light on any of this, I'd be grateful.

From ARD Client, how can I tell what has been done on my machine?

I am in a workgroup that is managed by ARD. I am not an administrator, but I'd like to get an idea of what has been done on my machine by the admin through ARD. It doesn't have to be too specific or real-time, but I'd like to get some idea. For instance, were there reports run on my application usage? Was there software installed? I'm really just fascinated by automation and software used to increase efficiency. I was thinking there would be a way to monitor incoming and outgoing requests or something, but that might not be the answer in this case. So how can I figure out what ARD admin is doing on my machine?

To answer what was asked in the subject of your question... ARD Client will not tell you anything. It is just the doorway.
There may be logs, but those would not be accessible from a non-admin account.

How can I save the Personal Settings done in the SAP standard viewer

I am facing the problem that I am not able to save changes made in the personal settings of the SAP standard viewer. I want to change the Colors to monochrome and I also want to change the background. Unfortunatelly these changes are not saved and I have to do that every time I am starting the viewer.
How can I save these changes?

Dear Markus,
normally the personal settings for the ECL Viewer are stored in the registry. Here the value for background color is for example stored in the following directory:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/SAP/VCT_Retained/6.1/Common/de/ImageViewUtils
Depending in the language of the operating system the key has weither the value 'en' (english) or 'de' german.
So here the personal settings should be stored or can be modified directly.

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. I'm not sure how you burned that CD but one way to get a PC compatible disk of the jpgs is the following:
1 - insert a blank CD in your drive and mount it on the desktop.
2 - select all of the files you want to transfer.
3 - go to the File->Export menu option.
4 - in the Export Photos pane click on File Export
5 - select full sized images and check the Use extension box.
6 - click on the Export button.
7 - in the navigation window that comes up navigate to the CD on the desktop and select it and click the OK button.
8 - when the export is complete check the files on the CD to make sure they are the full sized files (I got aliases one time so check before all burns).
9 - drag the CD to the Trash icon to burn the disk of photo.
This method create a universal format readable by both PCs and Macs. Good luck.

We are trying to update my wifes IPad on or Home computer but it is telling us her library is on another computer. We had a Windows 7 laptop when we got her IPad but now we dont use it and just use or home computer. How do we save whats on her IPad ?

When you do a sync, you will be asked if you want the items purchased from iTunes Store to be copied to the computer. I forget the exact wording of the message.
For anything that was not purchased from the store, you need to purchase an app. I haven't needed one so I can't recommend any specific one or ones. As I recall, they all sell for around $10. Do a search of the app store.

How do I save merged layers as jpg in Elements 12?

I am unable to save a completed project as a jpg file even after carefully merging the layers. The only way I can do that appears to be to use Save for Web - and I do not want to compress the images as web images.
Also, in Elements 9 I could open a PSE file in layers and continue to edit - in 12 I cannot do that.
I'm really very discouraged and wish I had my Elements 9 back.

What have I done, how do I correct it , delete or even find it

Have been trying to take a 'last import' and write it to toast, not sure why I can't do it or even make a folder for them to go in to but I cannot, but in any case I imported what I thought was a bunch of folders in my last 'import' to a folder I made on my desktop which it hasn't imported to but what it has done is give me thousands of different folder in my iphoto starting from 1970 onwards with thousands upon thousands of icons and just about every picture on my machine and it is still doing it as I type some 2 hours later. I can quit the program but it comes back on just as soon as i boot it back on with a little activity showing in 'faces'
How do I stop it
How do I delete what it has done
Where do I find what it has done?
I'm really tired of the programme, it's too controlling and not flexible enough so will be deleting it once I can find this recent bout of errors.
Any advice would be appreciated.

There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
*For Users of 10.5 and later*
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.

Many internet sites such as Flickr and SmugMug have plug-ins for accessing the iPhoto Library. If the site you want to use doesn’t then some, one or any of these will also work:
To upload to a site that does not have an iPhoto Export Plug-in the recommended way is to Select the Pic in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export and export the pic to the desktop, then upload from there. After the upload you can trash the pic on the desktop. It's only a copy and your original is safe in iPhoto.

If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.

Other options include:
1. *Drag and Drop*: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. *File -> Export*: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3. *Show File*: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

I'm not sure what I've done but I need help please

Hi everyone.
I seem to have done something really stupid. In the finder window, I renamed the 'folder' that has the house next to it, from Michaellastname just to Mike. Following that, I went into Front Row to watch a movie saved in my "Movie" folder. Low and behold, Front Row told me that there was nothing saved in that folder, despite the fact that I verified and it was there (I ended up watching it in Quicktime).
Thinking that I maybe just went about creating another user account, and that if I logged out of this new 'Mike' account everything would be ok. Logging out and logging back in seemed to restore my computer to its original settings ... nothing on the desktop, the dock is the way it was when i took it out of the box, and all my photos and music files etc are missing (well they're still there in that 'Mike' folder, meanwhile 'Michaellastname' still exists). There was no other account to log into other than 'Michaellastname'. Now I don't know what to do ... I would like to move all of my files and settings back to 'Michaellastname' and get rid of the 'Mike' folder, but don't want to try anything on my own because I'm clearly incompetent.
Can anyone please shed some light on my stupidity and explain how I can fix what I've done? Thank you!

This is something that happens quite often, so don't feel bad. The ones who should feel bad are the programmers who neglected to have Finder pop a warning when you try to do this, or written code to prevent you doing it at all. How can I save my photos on a removable hard drive for easy viewing?

I just got a brand new Macbook Pro and I wanted to transfer some of the photos from my old computer over to my new computer (from a My Passport removable hard drive), but I found that this wasn't possible with how I had saved then with iPhoto. I now have all of my photos on my new computer, but don't want to waste all that space. How can I save the photos I don't want on this computer to my removable hard drive for easy viewing? When I look at the removable hard drive now, it's saved altogether as iPhoto Library, so I can't just see certain ones...

While in iphoto,hold down the command key and select all the pics you want to move. Once all the pics are selected, release the command key and select export from the file menu. Iphoto will present a dialog box where you can select the quality of the pics before exporting. Then export them to whereever you would like. If you want to put them on an external HD then select that.When you wish to view them,you can use preview or right click on any pic and choose which program to open them with.After doing this if you no longer want them in iphoto then delete them and make sure to empty the trash in iphoto after doing so.

OK you need to click VIEW/EVENTS BY DISK in iMovie. Then you can drag within iMovie. You must hold the Command key down as you drag, or you will COPY not MOVE.
If you are trying to save space, the large files are in the Events. You can also move them by Command Drag within iMovie.

In summary, it sounds to me as though the Mac concept of "hidden extension per file" isn't embraced at all by Photoshop.
So assuming the extension is always visible, what is the easiest way do each of the following (ignoring issues with integration with other apps):
1. Save a JPEG as: abc.jpg
2. Save a JPEG as: abc
3. Save a JPEG as: abc.
4. Save a JPEG as: abc.xxx
Since it seems to me we still haven't nailed down whether there's a disparity between how this works on Photoshop for Mac vs. PC, I'll answer the above questions for PC:
1. File - Save As, choose Format: JPEG, type (replace filename with): abc
2. No difference than 3 on a PC.
3. File - Save As, choose Format: JPEG, type: abc.
4. File - Save As, choose Format: JPEG, type: abc.xxx
How is it different from the above on a Mac?
Is there something more complex, such as the sequence of operations, or another system setting, that I didn't cover here? I normally always keep Explorer set so that file extensions are visible (it's global on a PC).
