  • How do i search a pdf file

how do i search a pdf file on acrobat.com?

Currently, you cannot search the PDF content when it is placed on Cloud.
You need to use the Adobe Reader to search the PDF.
The Reader can be integrated with Acrobat.com and then you can open your files in Reader application and with ctrl-F you can search any word.
You can do some more search with multiple files using Advanced Search.
In the Reader application, choose Edit > Advanced Search.

  • How do you encrypt a PDF with Adobe reader, not Adobe Acrobat?

I would like to encrypt PDFs using Adobe Reader. However, all instructions for encrypting a PDF require me to use Adobe ACROBAT, not Adobe READER. How do I encrypt a PDF using Adobe Reader?
Extra Note: I use Adobe READER version XI and Mac OS X 10.9.

Adobe Reader does exactly what its name says: it reads PDF files, nothing more.

Sorry, it can't be done. PDF files don't "populate" other forms.

How do I search scanned documents that Adobe Reader reads but shows 0 results from the search?

If the scanned document was not processed for OCR, then it is just an image and cannot be searched for text.

  • How can I search a PDF document for annotations/comments

I have a long 50+ page pdf document with many annotations and commnets.  How can I search this document to find each comment?

    Locating and Searching Comment annotations.
From the open Comments List you can sort and filter comments.
This is discussed in Acrobat X Pro's online Help:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/WS58a04a822e3e50102bd615109794195ff-7e42.w.h tml
A sorted / filtered list can be used to generate a PDF comment summary report.

You could then use Find on the output summary report.
Using Acrobat X Pro you can embed an index in the PDF.
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/acrobat/pro/using/WSC28D4DBB-6A78-4027-9E04-F50FE411CFB9.w.htm l
Then use the Search tool. With the Search pane open tick "Include Comments".
Search returns have an icon at the left of each instance.
This portion of Acrobat X Pro's online Help shows and describes these.
The third up from the list's bottom is the Comments icon.

One of these or combinations may met your needs.

  • How do you open a PDF using Adobe Reader on your IPad in IBook?

How do you open a PDF File using Adobe Reader on your IPad When in IBook?

You can't. When you're in most of the PDF readers, the Share button gives you the option of Open In another app. But iBooks does not.
You need to add your PDFs through the iTunes method which Alec wrote about here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1040579?tstart=0
Or you can use another way of transferring your PDF to the iPad, like Dropbox. You install the Dropbox app on your iPad and copy your PDF from Dropbox (cloud application). It opens in Dropbox app and you use the Share icon to move it into Reader.

  • How do I rotate pdf in Adobe Touch Windows 8?

There used to be a clockwise/counterclockwise option for pdfs in adobe reader...

Adobe Reader that you have used in the past is the desktop version.  It is a mature product with a rich set of features including page rotation.
Adobe Reader Touch is a relatively new Windows Store app with "Modern" or "Metro" style UI that is specifically designed for Windows 8/8.1/RT.  But it is a lightweight version and has less features than the desktop version.  Page rotation is one of the "missing" features in Adobe Reader Touch.  The Adobe Reader Touch team is trying to add more features based on customer feedback and the usage data collected from other platforms (e.g. Adobe Reader for iOS and Android).
If your operating system is Windows 8 or 8.1, you can install and run the desktop version: Adobe Reader XI.  However, Adobe Reader XI is not compatible with Windows RT or RT 8.1.
Note that both Adobe Reader Touch and Adobe Reader XI can coexist on the same Windows 8/8.1 system.  You can switch between the two depending on your preferences for different types of PDF documents.

  • How to move the sticky note in adobe touch reader?

The sticky note in adobe touch reader is automatically places right in the middle of the page. How can i move it ?
If it helps, im using windows surface rt
any help would be appreciated... thank you

When Adobe Reader Touch opens a sticky note, it places the open sticky note right in the middle of the screen like this.
(Click the image above to enlarge.)
But it does NOT mean that the sticky note itself has to be placed in the middle of a page.  You can move it to anywhere within a page.
To move a sticky note, select it with a mouse or your finger and start moving to where you want.  Please note that you cannot move a sticky note outside a page.
Once you select it, the sticky note icon becomes bigger with the blue border to indicate that it's ready to be moved.

  • How do you save a pdf to Adobe Document Cloud from within Acrobat Pro DC?

I have a full Creative Cloud account so I now have the updated Acrobat Pro DC for both my pc and my iPhone.
On my iPhone, when I opened a pdf I was given the option to save the file to Document Cloud. But on the PC, how do I open this file or others on Document Cloud, and how do I save a file to Document Cloud?
    Thanks,
    Rob

These are the screens that I am presented with when trying to save or open a file in Adobe Acrobat Pro DC. I am logged in with my account and have mobile sharing activated on my iOS app.
    OS: Windows 7 64-bit.

  • How do I save a PDF in Adobe so it displays correctly in the default Firefox reader?

I have seen discussions on how to change your own settings in Firefox so PDFs display correctly (Viewing PDF documents in Firefox 19+) however I am looking for a solution on how to save PDFs so they display correctly within the default new Firefox reader. Our PDFs are looking bad and I can't go into each clients browser settings and fix (http://www.cherrybekaertbenefits.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/ACA_Infographic_072114.pdf). Are their any settings within the Acrobat Distiller that will fix this without the viewer having to go into their own settings?

    Hmm, not a subtle difference.
We haven't had many PDF experts or Adobe Illustrator users posting tips here; those might be sprinkled around on other forums, blogs, or support sites.
I did notice when viewing the PDF properties in Adobe Reader that the PDF was created with Optimize for Fast Web View enabled. This is a feature that allows for progressive rendering of PDFs over a slow connection ([http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/optimize-native-pdf-file-sizes.html#main_Optimize_for_Fast_Web_View_option]). Could you try re-generating the PDF with that feature disabled to see whether it makes a difference?

  • How do I save a pdf in Adobe Reader XI (11.0.06)?

Does anyone know how to save a pdf now from Adobe Reader?  If I try to save now it gives me the option of either save to online account or to Acrobat.com but neither of those work when I want to attach the pdf to an e-mail.  The only place I can see the pdf is on the Mac that I'm working from.  It cannot be accessed by anybody I send it to despite them all having Adobe Reader.  I'm sure this wasn't the way it was before and this is driving me insane now.  So many hours spent on what should be a really simple task
    Thanks
    Shaaric

I've never found technology to make life easier. It mainly offers the promise (often unfulfilled) of making it cheaper or quicker. This didn't happen when the Girl Guides put a form in an envelope and posted it. But they probably laid off the person whose job that was with the promise of everything being easy on the internet.
PDF has, curiously, become a victim of its own success. A few years ago, you could say to people "You need Adobe Reader" and it was the only serious game in town. So they got it and it works. Now everyone is making their own PDF reader for whatever reason, fewer and fewer people can be sure of having Reader. (PDF readers come at least with every Mac, every Windows 8 system, Chrome and FireFox, which covers a LOT of ground).
This is coupled with a bizarre decision Adobe made a few years ago to have two kinds of form, one of which all the other software fails with (and, as I noted, even Adobe's own software on iPad and Android fails). This was a neat idea which was designed for big corporations. Then the really big mistake: giving everyone with Acrobat the tools to make these new kinds of form, and making it seem they were preferre or the only game in town. This is finished now (Acrobat 11 doesn't include this big boy's software) but the damage is done, oh how it is done.
Even regular forms tend to only work properly in real Adobe Reader. The fact is, if you make or distribute PDF forms you need to tell people to use Adobe Reader, and to know exactly how to help them do that. If people can't do that or their users won't be motivated to bother, then PDF forms are no longer a suitable choice. Sad but true.

  • How to embed fonts in PDF Pack (Adobe X)

I watched a video that showed a "preflight" button in the tool dropdown... I have to embed the Times New Roman font in  a document, but cannot figure out how.....

The PDF Pack online subscription services Does Not Come With Acrobat (the desktop application).
As mentioned you must have Acrobat XI Pro in order to run a Preflight that will embed fonts.
Note that at Adobe's Acrobat product web pages you an make use of the link to download/install the free fully functional 30-day trial of Acrobat XI Pro.
But -- if all you have is Adobe Reader and a subscription to PDF Pack you have no means of embedding fonts.
