How do I search for a Folder (name) inside a folder?

I am using FF 3.6.3, I an attempting to use FF Search to locate a specific Folder, which I placed inside another Folder.
In this case, I have a Folder entitled 'Health' (no quotes), I research, and have various health-issues placed inside this folder. I am attempting to place new bookmarks within the aforementioned folder, however I only receive the various prior bookmarks, and it seems that 'FF Search' is incapable at this time to inform me as to which folder my previous bookmarks with this particular (specific) Health Issue are located within.
I would also like to take it out of that folder, and perhaps place it in General Bookmarks so that I will not lose track of it again.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

You can install this add-on t0 add a column to the Library window ( Bookmarks > Organize Bookmarks ) to indicate which Folders your search items are located:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7372
Once installed, in the Library window, click Views > Show Columns then click Parent Folder to show that column in the search results area.

  • How do I search for a folder I created in bookmarks?

I understand how to find what folder a bookmark is in but cannot find a method of searching for a folder I have created in bookmarks.

I was aware of the way to search for bookmarks by the two methods you describe i.e using either the library or the sidebar but once you start typing both methods only list the matching bookmarks and not the bookmark folders.
I am aware I can manually search for a folder by using the sidebar and library (I think you also refer to the library as the bookmarks manager) by opening up the hierarchial trees of the folders I have created. It can be a bit labourious when like me you have hundreds of bookmarks folders!

  • How do I search for a PROJECT name?

I go to Find>Other Data>Project>includes>{string}, but it doesn't find the string (which I know exists).
I've tried this from Library, All Photos, and from Blue Folders that contain projects. Doesn't find anything.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

I put in a feature request for a "spotlight" type feature in the Projects Inspector. Please do the same.
If I remember which folder I put it in, I don't need to search for it.
Also the method above just displays the images from that project. It doesn't tell me precisely where the project is located.

  • How do I search for just a folder with Spotlight

How do I search for a folder with Spotlight, not a file?  Spotlight is a great tool for finding a file, but often I just want to locat a folder.
When I find a file, how to I see the path to this file?
These are probably obvious question for longtime Mac users, but I come from the Windows world.

Activate the Finder's window. Put the folder name in the search field in the Finder's toolbar. Enter COMMAND-F which should change the Finder's window and give a toolbar above the column headers:
If you click on the dropdown menu with "Any" you will see this:
    Select the "Folder" entry.

How do I search for a particular bookmark folder in Mac Safari 7.06?  Since there seems to be no automated way to sort the folders (as in other browsers), in a long list of folders, a particular one can be hard to spot.  Yes yes, very similar to a previous question of mine.  -jan

Click "Help" menu in the Safari menu bar and enter the folder name in the search box.

  • How do I use search/find to search for a folder name

I can successfully use Spotlight and Search in Finder and Mail to find files and emails based on their titles and contents, but how to I use the search functions to find a FOLDER by its name, that I have somehere in my nests of folders - so I can then look inside that folder for what I am looking for.
The search results never seem to show up any folder names?

I do have several levels of nested email folders and several hundred folders created over the years. So I was hoping to be able to search for a folder's name, and be taken to it to see it and all of its contents.
The best I seem to be able to do is search for a word that I hope I remember is in one of the emails in that folder, and then find that email in the search results list - but that list still doesn't tell me where the folder in the nested heirarchy that is my mailbox

  • Searching for a folder in document library doesn't work properly if the folder is at the root level.

    Hi,
I have a folder named FS0 on my sharepoint 2013 site. The folder is the first level folder under
Default Document library (Shared Documents). When I search for FS0 on the sharepoint site, the search result give a link to home.aspx and not the folder. If I search for any folder that is a second level folder in the library, I get a search result that takes
me inside the folder on clicking it. In my case, I search for a folder named FS1 which directly under FS0. The search result takes me inside FS1 in this case. How can I make the search result display proper links for root level folders also?<o:p></o:p>
    Thanks
    Pranava

    Hi Pranava,
I couldn't reproduce this issue, when I create root folder FS0 in "Shared Documents" and start a full crawl, I click the FS0 link from search results page, it will open the FS0 folder as well as folder under FS0.
Please right-click the FS0 name hyperlink (e.g. mine is http://sp/Shared%20Documents/FS0) and paste in IE browser see if it could be accessed successfully.
Also test if other Shared Documents have this issue in other site collection or web applications, if not, run a full crawl may do a trick (please reset search index if only full crawl still doesn't work).
    Thanks

  • How do I search for a word through multiple files in my directories ??

    Hello everyone
How do I search for a word through multiple files in my directories ??
I am guessing one tedious way to do it would be to pass all the file names as command line arguments but I"m sure there exist a much easier and faster way to do it.
    Thanks a lot

You need to pass only the directory name as parameter and then retrieve the files(recursively throug subdirs or not, however you wish) of that directory.
There were at least 2 threads yesterday on how to retrieve files from directory, and there are many others in the archive so I leave the search part to you ;)

  • How can I "search" for Library Items?

I am developing a site in flash and have over 800 Library Items. My problem is, I need to edit a portion of a Library Item and cannot find the Library Item, and NO, I did not delete the Library Item because when I go to preview or test the flash document, the Library Item is there in the movie. Is there any way to search for the Library Item? I am using Flash Professional 8..
    Thank you.

I'm not sure how you would search for it if you don't know how to identify it.  You should be able to doubleclick on the object on the stage to open it up for editing.  When you do that, the stage area will display the library name of the object at the top of the stage border in a tab.  Things are ordered alphabetically in the library, so if you know the library name of the object you should be able to narrow down where it is.

  • How can I search for email senders and/or email subject(s)?

I'm probably not savvy enough to figure this out. When I search, e.g. for "Katie" I get to look at several messages where she is cc'd. I also receive messages from "Katie." How do I search for them? I know they are there because I just sent one to trash the other day. I suspect there are a number of them in trash. The only way I seem to be able to access them is to scroll...and that's a bummer.

    Hello.
*You can click in the search field in the ThunderBird toolbar.
*Type the words you are looking for such as email the email address
*Hit enter or select an auto completion choice
    To narrow search results:
*Click any year, month or day to show only results from that time. Click the looking glass to zoom out.
*If you cannot see the timeline, click the timeline icon in the top right corner.
*Hover over any filter, person, folder, tag, account or mailing list in the left pane to see where in time and on the timeline the messages matching the filter are located.
To exclude persons, folders or other criteria from search results:
*Click the unwanted person, tag, etc..
*Select can't be… from the menu that comes up.
To reduce results to a particular contact, account or other criterion:
*Click the desired person, folder, etc..
*Select must be… from the menu that comes up.
    To filter your search results:
*Check From Me to see only messages sent from one of your email addresses.
*Check To Me that include you as a recipient.
*Check Starred to see only starred messages.
*Check Attachments to see only messages that include attached files.
To open any message, click its subject line in search results. To act on multiple messages or see more details, click Open as list at the top of the results list.
I got this from [http://email.about.com/od/mozillathunderbirdtips/qt/Search_Mail_in_Mozilla_Thunderbird.htm here]. Go ahead and click that link if you need anymore help! Cheers.

How do i search for a string in a txt file using java??
    could you please help thanks

Regular expressinos work just fine, especially when
searching for patterns. But they seem to be impying
it's a specific group of characters they're looking
for, and indexOf() is much faster than a regex. If he's reading from a file, the I/O time will likely swamp any performance hit that regex introduces. I think contains() (or indexOf() if he's not on 5.0 yet) is preferable to regex just because it's simpler. (And in the case of contains(), the name makes for a very clear, direct mapping between your intent and the code that realizes it.)
