How do I see who is accessing my Airport Express wi fi?

How do I see who is accessing or currently using my Airport Express wi fi?

On your Mac....
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
Click on the AirPort Express icon
Look for Wireless Clients to see the number of currently connected devices. If you have 2 wireless devices and you see 3 wireless clients, you may have an uninvited guest on your network.

  • How can I see all devices using my airport express?

Is there any way to see all devices using my airport express for wifi connection?

Open Macinotsh HD > Applications > Utilities > AriPort Utility
Select the AirPort Express and click on Manual Setup
Click directly on the word Wireless Clients about 2/3 of the way down the page to see the MAC Address of each connected device along with the IP address that has been assigned.
You will need to do a bit of experimenation to be able to identify which device is which based on the MAC address.
Disconnect all but one device and note the MAC address. You now know that product that is.
Turn that one off and connect another. You now know what that device is, etc.
If you have 4 wireless devices...and you see 5 connected devices.....you may have an unwanted guest.

  • How can I see who has accessed my files?

I was recently on an open network and saw that a few of my files had been accessed. Is there a way I can see who?

Well, it sounds like you have security problems, but the short answer to your original question is no, it's not possible to tell who accessed the files. Disable file sharing unless you really need it. If you do need it, disable guest access. When you're on an untrusted network, definitely disable it, or activate the Firewall and block all incoming connections.

  • How do i see who is using my airport extreme

Looking for help in determining who is connected to my airport extreme and can I monitor their activity?

First, download and install AirPort Utility 5.6 which will contain the features you need. It is compatible with Lion as well as Mountain Lion, however, the installer app will refuse to install it on Mountain Lion. As I recall it installs on Lion without complaint.
This dilemma is easily solved though. You simply need to extract the app from the installer package using a package extractor like Pacifist.
    Download Pacifist here: http://www.charlessoft.com/
Download AirPort Utility 5.6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
After you get AirPort Utility 5.6 installed and running, come back and read the following.
I don't know of a better solution than to use Airport Utility - click Advanced, > Logs and Statistics > Logs. You will see the MAC addresses of the devices connected to your Airport. They're cryptic, but if you familiarize yourself with the MAC addresses of all your devices it's easy to spot an intruder.
MAC addresses are almost always printed somewhere on the exterior case of network devices. Keep a list of them in a convenient place.
"Monitoring activity" is more of a challenge. Depending on exactly what you want to monitor, you would need third party software to do that... I recall hearing about a program called Net Nanny so search for something like that.

The list you saw that shows what drivers are available from Apple Software Update is based on what drivers are supplied by the vendor to Apple. So it would appear that HP has not provided Apple with a scanner driver for 10.9 (known as an ICA driver), or provided an update if one was available for a previous version of OS X, so that you can scan from Image Capture.
I checked the HP web site for your model and they don't show any scanner driver or scanning software. If there was a scanner driver, you would be able to use Vuescan.
As for the Scan button not working, the following is documented by HP
Scanning to the computer from the printer control panel is not available when you scan with Preview, Image Capture, or Printer browser methods. You must use HP Scan software to scan from the printer.
But there does not appear to be any version of HP Scan software available for 10.9. So unless someone else has some workaround, it seems that you won't be able to scan with this model of HP.

  • I can no longer access my Airport Express Base Station. When I plug it in, it keeps flashing orange. I cannot see it in the Airport Utility.

I can no longer access my Airport Express Base Station. When I plug it in, it keeps flashing orange. I cannot see it in the Airport Utility.
    How do I fix this

If you're comfortable resetting all settings, unplug it, hold down the reset button and keep holding it in as you plug it back in - keep holding it for another 10-20s until the amber light flashes
Then, open airport utility, now you should be able to see the device either on-screen or in the upper left under 'other wi-fi devices'

  • Who is accessing my airport

I want to be able to see who is accessing my wireless network.  Is there any way to do this given I'm running Airport Express 7.6.3?  I'm running OSX 10.7.5 on my Macbook pro.  THere was a link posted in a forum dated 2006 for this, but the page in question no longer exists.

is there any way to bump clients off the Wifi without having to bring down the entire thing?
Not easily. If you identified a MAC Address that you did not want to be on the network, I suppose that you could set up Timed Access to never allow that particular MAC Address to connect to your network.
But, you would have to restart the AirPort for the changes to take effect.....temporarily knocking everyone else off for 30 seconds or so.
This would only work for wireless clients, not any Ethernet clients.

  • PIN-based guest access for airport express

how do I setup PIN-based guest access for airport express?
I have a 2010 iMac OS X 10.6.8 and an Airport Express of the same era.
    Thanx in advanced...
    Siegfried

    Hello Bob,
Thank you for your time on this.  I apologize for not giving you a more complete picture of what was going on.
I should have included that I had already performed the steps that you shared and had gotten to the place where I would enter the PIN.
The problem was that, after entering a PIN that I had come up with, the "continue" button never became active.  I called Apple Care and ended up talking to 3 different people before I found someone that knew the answer.  The answer is that the guest computer (client) MUST be present inorder for me to complete the setup.  So, problem is now solved.  Thanx...
    Siegfried
