If you haven't done so already, it's easy to change to your preferred language by following these steps:
Hover your mouse over the Account drop down on the top navigation bar
Click on the 'Settings' option
In the “Account Info” section, click the “Edit Language” link
Select your desired language (Note: If your selected language isn't supported yet, the site will still appear in English)
If you want to quickly switch between languages, you can also change your language by scrolling to the bottom of any page and choosing your desired language from the language selector in the footer.

Please go to Acrobat's Edit>Preferences > Language and change the Application Language from English to "Choose at application startup".

How does one select the language of a piece of text in Pages 5

I often work with multipel language in one document. In the pre version 5 Pages one could select the text and go in inspector and change the language. Not very handy, MS Word is always been much better at this. Even WordPerfect 1.0 was better. But in version 5 I can't find this function.

If you live in the world outside the USA, you will find that there are a lot of different language. If like me, and this is the case for a lot of people in Europe you have to make document in several languages Pages 4 was already a user un-friendly program. The detection you manhunt will not work:
If you take languages that are of the same family like Flemish/Dutch, English, German, enz… a lot of the words are similar but differ non the less.
Languages tends to take on words from other languages, in the past a lot of French has gotten into English. Flemish/Dutch has taken on a lot of English words in the last several decennia.
Hens Pages 5 has become a wast of HD space. There is something very wrong @ Apple.

When i install those programs with silent install string it will install language i have select at windows regional options. I want thinkvantage software to be installed in english but now its finnish.
So how to set default language EN with silent install?

How do I find optional languages in Pages 5.0? In Pages 4.3 you used to select a language via Inspector.

Pages 5.0 does not appear to offer the possibility of selecting a language. This really is a shortcoming when you have pre- and post-reform versions of a language, as in German. Am I missing something? in Pages 4.3. you would make a slection via the Inspector.

Pages now uses Edit > Spelling and Grammar > Show Spelling and Grammar to set the spell check dictionary.
If you have been using dictionaries beyond what Apple provides, you may have to reinstall them in Mavericks if they are no longer present on the list, and how well they will work with Pages 5 you will have to check.
If it doesn't meet your needs, you can stay with Pages 4.

I select a language in Portal Language dropdown in the Logon Page.
After login in the content is getting displayed in the browser language.
I want the portal content to be displayed in the selected language in the portal LogonPage.

The is the requirement for me too .
Kindly suggest me on how to set the language in the Portal user Profile so that the portal contents gets displayed in the selected languages from the dropdown .

The language that the portal is displayed in depends on the following
heirarchy, with the languages at the top of the list taking precedence
over those at the bottom:
1. Component (iview) language (defined in the portalapp.xml)
2. Portal Mandatory language (defined in the prtDefault.properties)
3. User language (defined in the user#s profile).
4. Request language (defined by the browser).
5. Portal Default language (defined in the prtDefault.properties)
6. System Default language (default locale defined by the OS).
So for example, if you have your portal user language (as in point 3)
set to Russian, but the language of the iView that is the logon page
(as in point 1) set to English, that logon page will be displayed in
English.
Keeping the above in mind, please make the necessary changes to the
configurations and check if it helps.

How can I change the language of the quiz popup "select more answers" in iBooks author?

Hi all,
I am relatively new to iBooks author. I've been creating a quiz with multiple answers. When I review my iBook on my iPad and only select one answer, it shows me a popup with the text "select more answers". Does anyone know how to change the language of that box? I'm working in German, iBooks author is set to German... I just can't figure out how I can change the language of that box.
Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, what you see in the popup when viewing the book in the iBooks app is supposed to take on the language of the OS. I don't know why it would not work on your iPad....

How do I install a language XPI globally and make it the default language?

I am using Firefox on unices and various Linux distributions (the less common ones). Installing Firefox is easy, but it is always in English. I get most of my interfaces (gnome, libreoffice, gimp, etc) in my preferred translation simply by setting the proper locale (export LANG=xy_XY.UTF-8) before starting Xorg. I found and downloaded my preferred language pack for firefox, which comes in an XPI archive. Opening that XPI file in Firefox (via an URL of file:///path/to/file/langpack.xpi) works smoothly, the translation gets installed under the user's own profile and it shows up in the add-ons (under the new category: Languages). Unfortunately, I still see no way in Firefox preferences to set this added translation as the default. Firefox still starts with the English interface. On SeaMonkey, there is a combobox on the Appearance panel that allows me to select the language of the interface from the list of installed/available languages. I cannot find such option on the panels of Firefox. So far, I had to install a language-changer add-on to be able to set the interface to my native locale. Even though my users never need to switch to any other locales.

Q2., How do I install the language xpi and make it the system-wide default, so that all my users see Firefox starting with the native (non-English) interface?
I found a handful of description for Q2, but they appear to be outdated and do not work. These include the -install-global-extension argument to Firefox, placing the xpi file as it was downloaded into the "extensions" folder, placing the xpi file renamed to the extension ID into the "extensions" folder, unzipping the contents of the xpi into a subfolder of the "extensions" folder named as the extension ID. Please note, these attempts might have failed because I placed the extension NOT where it was supposed to go. The instructions refer to the global extension folder as <installation folder>/extensions, but on my system no such folder exists. Firefox seems to get installed into /usr/local/lib/firefox and there is no "extensions" subfolder there in. However, there is a "browser/extensions" subfolder, but placing my XPI there did not trigger any effect. Also, I manually created the "extensions" subfolder in /usr/local/lib/firefox and moved the xpi there (on various names, unzipped and in a whole) without the expected result.
Any suggestion is very much appreciated!

Excellent. These guides got me as far as installing my preferred language pack, which gets added to the add-ons automatically (assuming the user says yes to the appearing question when Firefox is started).
However, the GUI does not change unless the user enters "about:config" and changes the locale.
Is there a way to do this from the command line? I mean, changing the locale settings.
And preferrably for all users. So even when new users get added and they start Firefox the first time, they see it appearing with the preferred locale and not in English.

While this isn't the appropriate venue to ask about changing the default language in Ubuntu, the snide forum link above lazily fails to address the Firefox language issue, and unfortunately this link now comes up on the first page of google searches about the default language in firefox.
To change Firefox's default language, go to Edit -> Preferences -> Content, and click the "Choose" button under the Languages heading.
To change the default language of your spell checker, right click on any text area and find the "Languages" entry in the menu, then select the language of your choice.

You will see a box like this:
Stay on the first tab (as shown) and select the drop-down menu as arrowed
English (UK variety) is the fifth one from the top. US variety English is the sixth one
Select your choice and click on OK
There will be an additional piece of text under the menu now; it simply tells you that you need to close and re-open iTunes for the language change to take effect.

Let me try to explain the problem
Mtl-A, has description in 3 languages. (En, Fr, It)
Mtl-B, has description in 1 language only. (It)
Mtl-C, has no description
First i want to check for a given mtl if description exists in the user's logon lang, if it does not, then check if description is maintained in English, if not check in French, if not Italian.
Eg1: User logs-in with En language,
Then the description for mtl-A is displayed in english, for Mtl-b description is displayed in Italian (as only italian description is maintained) & for mtl-c no description is displayed as it is not maintained.
Eg2: User logs-in with It language.
Then description for Mtl-A & B is displayed in Italian & for mtl-c it is blank as no description exists
But when i use the below code, the system by default picks up EN which is my default lang, even if i login in French or Italian lang, the description is shown in english only.

I installed Windows 10 Technical Preview with original language settings for the US region.
No that I need my Windows localized to Espanol - Spanish.
I type "language' in Cortana, select Add language to this device and click Add a language on the Region & language.
Then I select added language and click Set as primary.
After the restart I see that while Windows Explorer is displayed in Spanish, Start menu is displayed in English (including app sections such as Explore Windows), as well as Modern apps that have retained their English names (such as Mail).
I even set the location to Spain in regional settings (although I didn't like the idea, as I want to browse the US market). To no avail.
How do I change the language of the Start menu and modern apps?

Okay, I ran the in-place upgrade and it worked!
What I did:
1. Downloaded and attached Espanol edition of Windows Setup ISO.
2. Started setup.exe from that ISO.
TIP: If need be, you can downgrade your installation of Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview to Windows 10 Pro Technical Preview by changing two registry values, EditionID and ProductName. You may use the following registry file on Windows 10 Enterprise

Ok, I figured out whats the problem. I configured Netflix on my smart TV (LG 47LW6500) and gives me the option to choose audio and subtitles. Then configured my preference on the Netflix web page and set default audio to english. And it is actually working with an exception, the default audio will be english unless there is an other language that has better audio, for example, if the movie has 3 languages English (Stereo), Spanish (Stereo) and Portuguese (Stereo) english will be default, but if the theres a case were 1 of the languages is not stereo but better, as 5.1 Dolby, the better audio will be automatically selected as default, for example if English (Stereo), Spanish (Stereo) and Portuguese (5.1 Dolby), then the movie will play in Portuguese, no matter what your default preference is.
There is no way to fix this, because the ATV does not give the option to change the audio language on Netflix (It does on iTunes), and and Netflix App is omitting the web page preferences and the ATV preferences. Basically is and App problem, I don't know who developed the App, but the problem is definitely the app, that has not implemented all of the options the API allows.
