How do I "Select All" email messages at once for deletion rather than touching each one?

I receive many emails each day and many of them I would like to delete all at once.  But the only way so far I have been able to figure out how to do that is to manually select each and every one of the emails I want to delete then hit delete.
That is fine when I only have 5 or 6 email to get rid of, but I regularly have anywhere from 50 to 200 at a time to delete.
I cannot locate a "Select All" option in any of the menus.
Any Ideas?
Thanks
Jerry

  • IPad iOS 8.2 still won't allow delete of ALL email messages at once?

iOS 8.2 still won't allow deletion of ALL email messages at once from my iPad? What could be the reason for this? The work-around solutions I see on Internet work erratically for me.
I'm an Android cellphone user so can delete all emails from my phone with a click or two. Is that a patent issue for Apple? There is no way to delete ALL email messages easily?

Had the same problem. There is an undocumented way under another thread and it works, but is clunky and very un-Mac-like.
The Apple thread that I got the undocumented answer from is:
Delete all email in Inbox iOS7
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5421295?start=15&tstart=0
    I've copied the answer below:
    From inbox edit
MARK ALL AS READ (for me and several others in the thread it only works, when I marked all as read)
    Highlight first email
    Hold move button
Try to unhighlight first email (probably won't )
Still holding move button pull down on mails  and then try to unhighlight first email again
    This time it should
You will notice the inbox seems frozen as move is no longer highlighted and individual emails will not highlight if you touch them
Wait May take a minute or two depending on how many emails are in your inbox but they will move to the right side
    Then just touch trash

I have two computers and I would like to have my iTunes library on both. How do I download all my songs from iCloud without having to click on each one?

Create a smart playlist with the criteria being location - not on this computer. Then select all, right click and download.

  • How do I copy all Email messages to another system and view them seperately from any messages on the new system?

We're giving my wife's old laptop to our children. We have already set up her E-mail accounts on the new laptop which is now 2-3 months old. While cleaning off the data from the old laptop, I have found hundreds of Emails that I want to save for future use. I just archived the old messages tonight. How do I copy them to an external drive so we can read them later without writing over all the new Emails on the new laptop?

Right click on the folder containing the emails > ImportExporttools > choose from options eg: Export folder
    choose where to export.
You can also choose to export all the messages as eml files.
Copy file to desktop of new computer

right click on 'Local Folders' > ImportExporttools > Import mbox file

  • How can I select all "Related Messages"

When I click on a message the application highlights all related messages in list view.
I like to select these highlighted messages in one shot and delete or move them. Is there an easy way to select them without going one by one and Command-click selecting them?

I have also found that if you have other emails, say in the sent folder, you can actually select (command-click) multiple mailboxes on the left pane and it mashes both mailboxes together, and then the 'conversations' have both sent and received emails in that thread.

  • How do I select all emails, so I can delete?

On iOS7 you can view all trash and even all Sent - it shows I have hundreds going back to April 2013, so would like to just delete them all, as they are on my laptop or server anyway.
I don't see a way to highlight all tho.  Can you?

    Hello there, Simon_a6.
The steps to delete multiple email messages is found in the iPhone User's Guide (pg. 52) located here:

  • How can i search ALL email folders at once

can I search all my email folders in icloud at the same time instead of one by one
    s

A mass selection or multi-conversation select would be a very nice feature to have.  I, like others, receive automated text notifications from motion sensors, emails, etc.  Each message comes from a unique number so it's not as simple as deleting a single conversation.  PLEASE, Apple, consider what I would think would be an easy addition to the functionality of the iOS.

  • How do I select all albums in a genre for playback on an iphone 5 running ios7?

In IOS 6 on my iphone, I was able to swipe down and get a screen that allowed me to select all albums and swipe again and select all songs within the genre. I cannot seem to find this function in IOS 7. Does it exist?

    Mary,
Unfortunately, there is no direct way to exclude an album from search results and combine that with other search criteria. (The search facilities of PSE have a lot of such sloppiness in their detailed design.)
But heres a workaround: In the Organize pane, select the Disney Dec 2008 album, so only those photos are showing. Select all of them and assign them a new temporary tag Temp. Then click Show All, select the Disney 2008 tag, and right-click the Temp tag and select Exclude Photos.

  • My email is overloaded. I would like to delete, in bulk, all emails from a sender...rather than one at a time.. I am talking hundreds.

I can sort my folders by sender, but would like to be able to delete in bulk messages from individual senders. I have thousands of emails sitting in my inbox and need to free up space on my computer. Thanks, Fran

Or use the QuickFilter to display just the messages from the selected sender, use ctrl+a to select all, then del to delete.
If the messages were spread across multiple folders, you could use the global search to find them, then "show email as list", then use the ctrl+a, delete sequence.
It really isn't a good idea to let messages accumulate in the Inbox. Why not create subfolders and organize your messages by topic or sender?

  • How do I delete all email messages in just one touch (delete all feature)?

Does anyone know how to perform a "delete all" in order to delete all email messages rather than going through each message one at a time to move from the inbox to the trash folder, then delete from the trash folder permanently?  Currently, we seem to be able to only select one message at a time, rather than perform "Delete All".
I read in a forum post about the "Delete All" button being available only when pressing Edit in the Trash folder.  Could someone please provide the sequence of steps to successfully delete all messages in one step?  Thanks.
    John Bottiger

It is not possible other than as described by yourself - singly to the Trash folder and then collectively from there if you so wish.

  • How do I select and email a whole lot of photos on my iPad from my iPad emails? It seems I have to go into Email and then insert one photo at a time? Isn't there a way to select all in the photos and then email the batch.?

How do I select and email a whole lot of photos on my iPad from my iPad emails? It seems I have to go into Email and then insert one photo at a time? Isn't there a way to select all in the photos and then email the batch.?

Actually, you can email up to 5 at a time from the Photos app. Select any more and the email share option will not appear.
If you explain why you need to email large numbers of photos, we might be able to offer an alternative.

  • How to select all emails from the same sender

    Hi
I have been pulling my hair out with this one, what i want to do is select all emails from 1 specific sender and delete them, because my inbox is completely chocka, is this possible in mail.
    Cheers

There are multiple ways to achieve this. First, you could click the From header in the mailbox in question to sort by sender, then just click the first message from the desired sender and shift-click the last message. Second, you could do a search using the search bar, limiting it to the mailbox in question and searching only the From field using the buttons that appear when you start typing a query.
