How do I select an Underneath Object?

I'd assumed it would be "Press Shortcut Key and tap mouse" or something like that... but it's not.
It seems the Command Key changes the mode of the selection tool, whilst partially, sometimes, enabling selecting underneath. But it's terribly inconsistent, and means that the selection mode is changed if I do manage to select the desired object. Is this how it works?

All of the above, and many others.
I see no point in hiding these issues away in "feature requests".
I hope others suffering in the same way find these truths faster through these cookie crumbs

But mostly because I think there's more chance Adobe will do something about anything if there's public acknowledgement of the problems/issues/oddities need addressing.
The performance of Illustrator, on current generation hardware, is one I'll never get tired of pointing out. It's amazingly bad. I have no idea how they're not constantly ashamed of it.
It's bad on PC's and Mac's. There's no excuse for it. This is creative software. It should be as FLUID as the hardware permits.
From what I'm seeing there's no hardware a consumer could buy to get a fluid experience in Adobe Illustrator. That should be a source of constant complaint until it's addressed. PUBLICLY.
However I have filed ONE Feature Request. For a public feature request system with voting, linking and annotation capabilities.

TS2128 How can I select multiple SEPARATE objects/words in Pages (Mavericks version)?

When I type a document and decide to italicise a couple of separate words throughout the document how can I select them at once? Pressing Shift selects all the words between the first and the second, that does not help me. In Pages 09 it worked with either cmd or ctrl or alt (I don't remember which, but one of them worked) but I tried all of them now and nothing happens.
Can anyone help me?

You can't do it anymore. Pages 5 is a stripped application and has lost about 90 feature that Pages 09 has. Read more about it in other threads in this forum.

How to give select prvileges on objects in ONE schema only.

hi.. i wanna to do gve a select on tables only privilege to all objects in one schema only,
is there any single command that enable me to do so ?
or do i have to allocate priviledge to each and every schema objects available ?

I think there is no command that will give permission on all the objects in one go.
but u can do it in some tricky way.
some thing like this
spool permission.sql
SELECT 'grant select on '||TABLE_NAME|| ' to abc; ' FROM USER_TABLES
spool off
change the abc user with the real schema name
then run the permission.sql file connected with the user containing the tables.
first try this on some test db and check if it works

How to print "selected objects" in InDesign CS4?

I have a large calendar in ID CS4. I want to print and view some of the text in its actual size. My printer can only print A4 documents. How can I print only selected texts and objects in its actual size in this application?
Although copying and pasting the text in another A4 sized document (IDCS4) would do it but there is no native support of "printing selection" but Microsoft's "Word' has!

I think the layer option is best.
Select what you want then open the layers panel and create a new layer. Select the objects you want to print, then in the layers panel you will see a small square to the right of the layer name. Alt Drag that to the new layer to copy the items, you can then turn off the visibility to the other layer and just print out the new layer.
Then switch the visibility of the layers around to view the original artwork.

How do you select an object that is directly under another object?
I was working from a template and I wanted to make a text box the same size as a column box that was put there in order to keep the text in the confines of the paper that is was being printed to.
I could actually put text in each column fine but I wanted it to be in a text box so that I could slightly tilt the test box to compensate for my printer feeding it in slightly wrong. I accomplished this on another template but I could not on this one. If I was working in InDesign or something I know I could just select that layer but I'm at a loss of what to do here. How do I select a column right under a text box? I just thought of something. Once I make the text boxes the same size as the columns I think I can just delete the columns from the inspector. But that would be kind of a work around. I know you can hold down command when nothing is selected from outside the document and then highlight but this is not working. Does anyone have some tips and tricks when it comes to having control over which objects you are selecting when it comes to objects that are overlapped as well as directly over each other.

I'm not sure it's documented any where, but it's not too difficult. First, ⌘-click outside of the layout area to enter object mode then drag the cursor towards the two objects until you see the handles. Now, again ⌘-click on the top object to deselect it. You can now move the underlying object to the front to edit, delete, etc.
After typing this, it dawned on me, why not just click the top object to select it & move it to the back? I've only done the other way a bazillion times & now I think of this.

Data cannot be stored in structure.
Structure is just like a view , so its a medium with which you can create a view relevant to your needs.
The fields that we need together , we put in a structure.
Structure is a medium where we collect all our relevant fields.
we can include the structure in internal table so that we can actually store data , process data and retrieve data.

How NOT to select hidden objects

Hi,
could somebody please tell me if there's a way NOT to select hidden or locked objects inside a layer/group every time that layer/group is selected in the layer pallette? It's a minor but a very annoying thing, due to which I'm always unintentionally shifting or deleting ojbects that I need to stay in place (which is why they've been locked or hidden in the first place).

If you select the group in the layers palette, by clicking the selection column to the far right next to the group's name, it will not select locked/hidden objects. Unfortunately this doesn't work for a layer and if you have more groups in a layer you have to Shift click on the selection column of each group.
When you drag copy by holding Alt objects selected like that the copies remain in the same group it doesn't create a new group minus the locked/hidden objects.

How to bind 2 ADF Select One Choice objects to work as a relation

im new to Jdeveloper, i got used to Microsoft Visual Studio (regarding bindings) and im lost here.
So here what im trying to do:
I have 2 tables in my database (Cities & States),
i am creating 1 view object for each so i can link them to "select one choice" objects. The first object, should show ALL cities (that part is done),
but when i choose a city from that object, the second object should show only the corresponding states of that city. I managed to do
that, using ADF Form, simple by clicking navigation buttons, and what ever is on the city list, the correct states are shown in the second object.
My goal here is, instead of navigating with buttons (for the city object), and then choose states from the second object as a list, i want also my city
object to be a "select one choice" object, so both will be a drop down list, and not navigating to all cities until i find the one im searching for.
I try that but when i choose a city from city object, the second object is not show the corresponding states but keep showing all the states that exists in my country.
I don't want to use java beans for this but just adf bindings.
Can you assist me please?

make not PoleisView4 inside of Nomarxia (cities), so thats the relationship i use for states.
*A small update, im trying different combos for partialTrigger or in general anything so i can figure out my self whats the problem of not refreshing the 2nd object,
and i noticed most of the cases im getting this warning "<FacesCtrlListBinding> <getInputValue> ADFv: Could not find selected item matching value 1 of type: java.lang.String in the list-of-values."
looks like whatever i choose from the list of cities, it keep looking of value 1 (keep in mind value 1, do not have a state relation, only half of my list currently have states).
That means the problem is not refreshing the 2nd object (atleast for now), but refreshing its own id

How to retrieve all the art objects which are inside a selected path?

I need it for a plug-in I want to create.
In fact, I want to enable the user to draw a closed path which will select all the objects inside it.
I actually need something like a Lasso Tool but one which also draws a path.
I'm looking for it, but unable to find it.
If you can help me, I'll be thankful.

Let's say I require that the entire art must be inside the path(Or at least all it's anchor points).
Anyway, one thing for sure - I assume the path is a simple closed path, ie the path doesn't intersect itself(like figure 8 shape).
What is the way to check whether an art or at least a point is inside such a path(not inside it's bounding rectangle, but inside it)?
I wonder why there is no such function if the Lasso Tool exists in AI and it does some such geometry computation, at least this is what I think.

How to reference the Parent view Object attribute in Child View object

Hi , I have the requirememt to generate Tree like struture to display Salary from joining date to retirement date in yearly form.I have writtent two Pl/SQL function to return parent node and child nodes(based on selected year).
1.First function --> Input paramter (employee id, retirement date , joining date) --> return parent node row with start_date and end_date
2. 2nd function --> input paarmter(employee id, startDate, end_date) --> return child node based on selected parent node i.e. start date and end date
I have created two ADF view object based on two function return
Parent Node --> select * from Table( EUPS.FN_GET_CONTR_SAL_BY_YR(employeeId,retirement Date, dateOf joining)) ;
Child Node --> select * FROM TABLE( EUPS.FN_GET_CONTR_SAL_FOR_YEAR( employeId,startDate, endDate) ) based on selected parent node.
I am giving binding variable as input for 2nd function (child node) . I don't know how to reference the binding variable value in child view from parent view.
Like I have to refernce employeId,startDate, endDate values in 2nd function from parent view object. some thing like parentNode.selectedStart_date parentNode.employeeId.
I know we can achive this writing the code in backing bean.But i want to know how can we refernce parent view object attribute values in child view object using Groovy or otherway?

There are three TextBoxes. I use <TextBox TabIndex="1"/> to set the order they are selected. When I enter one specific TextBox, I would like to have the entire text selected ... one key stroke removes all of the text in that TextBox.

1. Override the OnStartup for the application. Use the following code: (VB.NET)

What this does is register a handler for every textbox in your application. This will execute when the GotFocus event is raised and will allow you to do whatever (in this case select all) you want. A great way of handling things at the application
level.

I have spent a lot of time to find out how to outline selected cells during drag in the jtable, but I did not find the answer.
Can anybody give me a tip, where to read more about this problem or even better, give an example...
I have the following situation:
1.Table has 10 rows and 10 columns
2.setSelectionMode(ListSelectionModel.SINGLE_INTERVAL_SELECTION) and setCellSelectionEnabled(true)
3.user select 5 cells in 4th row (for example cell45,cell46,cell47,cell48 and cell49)
4.user starts dragging. During dragging an outline should be drawn. Outline should be a rectangular with width of 5 cells and height of one cell. Outline should move according to the mouse position.
5.rectangular disappears when dropped
