How do I send a single audio clip to STP without sending master clip too?

Hi there,
I'm trying to clean up production sound in STP using a roundtrip from FCP. When I send a single audio clip to STP as an Audio File Project, the entire master clip is sent (which is as long as the tape.) I thought I'd only be sending the part I had edited into the FCP sequence. Also, in STP there are now left and right audio files (from the original master clip). I only wanted to adjust the sound on one track, not both.
How do I send just a single clip from a single track from the FCP timeline to STP? Should I be sending as an Audio File or Multitrack Project?
Does it matter if the clip was edited into the sequence from a subclip (rather than from a master clip)?
Thanks so much. Any help is appreciated!

If you are planning to edit your sound in Soundtrack Pro, you do a log & capture in FCP not Capture Now. Like FCP Soundtrack Pro brings in the whole file from Media Start to Media End. To nondestructively edit it needs the while file residing on your scratch disk. That's why you log & capture each take unless you're doing something quick & dirty.
If you are working on a documentary & you have 50 plus hrs. of footage it may be too time consuming to log all the individual clips. As an alternative you could do Capture Now & then subclip, export your subclips after renaming them, as a batch list. Dump the original capture file, import the batch list & do a batch capture of the offline clips. Now you have the media in a sensible form that Soundtrack can work with. It's still going to bring the media in from Media Start to Media End but now each of the media starts to ends are a fraction of their original size.

  • Sending FCP subclip to STP without sending the master clip!

I have a bunch of subclips I want to clean up in STP, but no matter what I've tried so far, I can't get it to just send the subclip, not the entire masterclip.
    Any suggestions?

Allow me to advise and seek help in same breath. My clip (with selection linked) cannot be send as STP as 'audio file' as it is greyed out but instead only as 'multitrack project'. Any reason why?
However each audio channel can be send to STP as an audio file individually (when selection is unlinked) and not both (shift selected) together. When one,
usually top channel, is 'send to' as audio file and saved (as . stap file), edited, and saved again, when back in FCP there is only that audio clip available, the other has disappeared. But it play the corrections but sounds weird (I guess
as the other channel is missing).
I am doing something wrong here? and what??

  • HELP! how can I get my outbox emails back- they vanished without sending!!!

I just came off 8 hour transatlatic flight the entireity of which I spent dealing dealing with email and deflagging as I hit send.
When we touched down and I connected to wifi expecting to see the 27 messages in my outbox send....  But they didn't.  They just sat there.  New mail didn't come in either.   Mail ended up crashing and I had to do restart... after which there were no messages in outbox!!!!
Most of the emails were associated with my work Gmail account however I also have a personal gmail.  My personal Gmail is picking up email however my work one is not....
I've tried sending a coupel test emails but they now sit in my outbox without sending.  Unfortunately they sit alone in my outbox... can see no sign of the others... and they aren't in my drafts.  I do have a couple emails I had written but not sent sitting in drafts.
I'm freaking out not just because I lost 8 hours work but also because I have no way of figuring out what emails I responded to now thay are unflagged.  I get ~500+ emails a day so this.
    Any here GREATLY appreciated.

Sorry that I don't have a definite answer.  I assume you are using mobile.charter.net as per http://www.myaccount.charter.com/customers/support.aspx?supportarticleid=3230 and the built-in email app on the Galaxy?
The thing is that desktop e-mail programs allow you to specify exactly what happens when you "delete" a message on an IMAP folder:
    http://support.google.com/mail/answer/78755http://kb.mozillazine.org/deleting%20messages%20in%20IMAP%20accounts
I don't see where to configure these options on the phone.  Also, some e-mail programs have an command to "expunge" messages on the server.  What happens if you login to your IMAP account from a desktop computer and "compact" the folders?

  • How can I make a synced audio track match the length of selected clips in a multicam seq?

I have a continuous multicam sequence of about 13 minutes containing a synced master audio track recorded from seperate microphones. I want to rearrange scenes from it into my final sequence, but when I select a range of clips to nest the entire length of audio gets pasted into the new sequence. I want to trim the audio to match just the clips I've selected but not lose sync. Is there a way to do this or is nesting not the way to chop up a sequence and rearrange the scenes in it?
    Thanks.
    Mike

Me too!!!  I have a multicam sequence from 2 cameras with the audio staying on camera 1. I also have a seperate, continuous  audio track recorded from microphones which I have synced to the timeline. I'm trying to select a group of sequential clips of different camera angles from the timeline to create scenes which I can insert into a final sequence but in a different order from how they are on the timeline. Let's say I want to take a series of clips that start at 3:30 on the timeline and go until 4:30 on the timeline.  It will contain several cuts between the different cameras and I want to use that section as the first scene of my new sequence. If I select all of the clips in that time period and nest them into a new sequence, I only get the audio from camera 1 on the new TL. If I try window selecting those clips to include the continuous audio track, I get a new TL with 3 minutes and 30 seconds of the desired audio, then the video clips, and then the rest of the audio making a 13 minute TL. I just learned, after searching around, about marking in and out points on my multicam seq. and using the trick of "LIFTing" and then "UNDOing" to keep my  multiseq intact, and then pasting into a new sequence. That works, but I'm only getting the audio track from off the camera. It won't select and lift the section of the other audio track that I want. I'm rushed for time so that's the way I've ended up finishing the video for now. The camera audio is just going to have to do although the mic recording is much better. The more I try to explain this the more confused I get and I'm sure everybody reading it does too. Any ideas?   Thanks!

  • How can I shorten a single Audio track individually?

    Hi!
I have multiple audio files in the same track copied to make a loop. When I try to shorten the last one, all of them get shortened at the same time. How can I only shorten one of them individually?

You probably made *Aliases or Clones* using the Repeat Regions command (⌘-R)...
    But I'm not sure...
What do you mean by "multiple audio files in the same track copied to make a loop"? I can't really tell what that looks like... have you made duplicates and spread those over the track? By what method? *Repeat Regions* or ⌥-dragging?

  • How do you convert a single audio file into multiple tracks?

Ive got a cassette tape that I captured. Now I want that single file to be chopped up into multiple tracks.
from there, can we burn to cd with the multi tracks? or do we need another cd burner program?
also the only way Ive been able to get rid of big pops is highlight them and cut them out. the automated processes have not been able to do this for me.
is there a procedure somewhere for this that I can follow?
    thanks for your assistance.
    best, M/

    Jimi
this is exactly what I did with a previous cd. I thought it seemed like the long way round.
was hoping for a more automated solution.
when I came from XP land, I used to use Premiere Pro 2.0 and there was a Pro editing software that came with the Premiere suite, I forgot what it was called, but it did that automatically after adding markers and it was way better at eliminating clicks and pops.
there was a view you could use where you could see the annoying noises by looking at it using several differnt views (like looking at an infared image).
definetly had its advantages but I could not keep XP running. I got errors, blue screens, viruses, spywares, costs lots of money to fix an lots of downtime.
so far the mac as worked without any major glitches (touching wood)

  • How to send video and audio (videoconference) using JMF without using RTP

    Hi everyone,
I am creating an application using JMF, a videoconference, but I would like to transmit the packets by myself without using RTP. I would have a socket (or virtual Serial Port -- > Bluetooth) and I would send the info that way. Is it possible??
    Thanks in advance!!
    Cheers

Yeah, you'd need to implement something like this for that.

  • I have a orange audio bar that doesn't extend to the end of the video clip. How can I get the whole audio?

In my video clip there is an orange bar that does't extend to the end of the clip. I think this is an audio bar. How do I get the full audio to play when I move the clip to the project?

Did you try to set it up "as new ipod" without using the latest backup? The backup might contain damaged data causing your problem. If setting up "as new" does not work, you'll have to get it serviced.
Setting up as new device and transferring data before doing this is covered here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137

  • Accessing master clip effects

Hi all.  The new CC master clip effects feature is a pretty slick and has lots of possibilities.   However, I can't seem to figure out how to access the effect once its been applied.  I've seen several tutorials where the editor simply clicks on the source clip in the source monitor to open up the effect controls for the applied applied clip.  This doesn't seem to work for me at all.  Can I maybe access the effects controls for the master clip effect from the project panel?  Any advice?
    Thanks,
    Richard Angle

The Effect Controls Panel is now focus sensitive in a way that it wasn't before the master clip effects feature was added.
When the Source Monitor has focus with a master clip loaded, the ECP loads that master clip. To load a master clip in the Source Monitor, you can either double-click it in the Project panel or use Match Frame from the Timeline.
When the Timeline has focus and a single track item is selected there, the ECP loads that track item. With a track item loaded, the ECP always shows the "intrinsic" effects: for Video, Motion, Opacity, and Time Remapping; for Audio, Volume, Channel Volume, and Panner.
Setting focus on panels other than a Timeline or the Source Monitor has no effect on what's loaded in the ECP.

  • Master clip duplication problem

If I copy a master clip in the browser, then paste it, isn't the new clip supposed to independent? The Master Clip colunm is still showing a check beside the new clip.

Actually, in the book Final Cut Pro 5 by Diana Weynand from the Apple Pro Training Series it specifically states that copying and pasting a master clip in the browser will not create a new master clip (p. 270). I tried it in 5.0.x and that is the case, the pasted clip is not a master clip. However, trying it in 5.1.2 the pasted clip does become a master clip.
There were changes made to master clip behavior going from 5.0 to 5.1.2, but this change isn't mentioned in any of the documentation I've seen.
If anyone else is working with the Final Cut Pro 5 book, there's another master clip discrepancy between the book and 5.1.x. On page 273 it says that you will get a warning when deleting a master clip from a project that has been used in a sequence. According to the late breaking news document at http://manuals.info.apple.com/en/FinalCut_Pro_5.0_lbnz.pdf the warning dialog will no longer appear:
    Managing and Revealing Master Clips
In previous versions of Final Cut Pro, affiliate clips shared data with a master clip stored in the Browser. If you deleted the master clip, a dialog would appear requesting confirmation that you wanted to break the master-affiliate clip relationship. If you clicked OK, all of the affiliated clips would become independent.
In Final Cut Pro 5.1.2, deleting a master clip no longer breaks the relationship between affiliated clips. Instead, the master-affiliate clip relationship still exists even when the master clip in the Browser is deleted. No dialog appears when you delete a master clip.

When i try to upload a .mts file from my Sony camera to Premiere Pro CC it refuses to play the audio! Ofcourse i could convert every single clip but it takes tons of time. How can i make Pr play audio track properly?

Does it not play at all or cannot you get the audio in the timeline?
Did you copy the entire card to the hdd and then imported the file via the Media Browser?
Did you source patch the audio tracks?

  • How do I join multiple (short) audio clips into one single long audio clip in Premiere Pro CS5?

    Hello,
The question is in the title but I'm wondering how I can join multiple (short) audio clips into one single long audio clip in PP CS5.5.  I put all my short clips right next to each other and selected all of them to see what options are available by right clicking and using the toolbar options at the top.  The closest that I got was to nest the sequence, but that's not what I really want.
I'd like to merge all the short clips into one single (long) audio file to use under the video.
Thoughts are welcome and  greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    -Melvin

O.K. This is kind of fundamental and you will need to learn up on this fully ...but for now...
Make sure you have the WAB ( work area bar )covering the length of the audio clips. ( You do not need to select them)
Go to the File Menu> Export Media
You will be given all the Export Options.  Choose Wave File
Select option for Export Work Area.
Choose where to export the file to ( HD location)
    follow your nose from there....

BTW - Why are you taking the audio to Audition anyway? What are you going to do to it.

  • Opened FCP Clip In STP . . . Now How Do I Add Audio Tracks?

I have opened an FCP 6 video clip in STP and the video and 2 audio tracks are facing me.
I want to get rid of the clip's audio tracks and replace them with tracks on which I am going to create a musical background.
I am not concerned about deleting the original audio tracks as I can mute them back in FCP but I would like to add some new tracks for the music.
It was dead simple in the old Soundtrack 1.5 but how do I do it in STP ?

I'm on STP 2.0.2 and page 409 doesn't seem to have anything relevant but your sentences do!
I tried "Send to STP Multitrack Project" and that seems to fit the bill.
So why didn't I try it earlier? I made an assumption . . . . . I assumed that "multitrack" was synonymous with "multicam" and as I wasn't exporting a multicam file, it would not be appropriate.
It's not the first time I have been tripped up by terminology.
Thanks for nudging me in the right direction, Paul.

  • Here is a Tutorial on How to sync Multiple Video and Audio Clips

Check out my Tutorial on How to sync Multiple Video and Audio Clips http://vimeo.com/28972315

Very true ! My main point was to show how easy it was to sync. I still think apple has a way to go to make this a great tool. It was fast to edit but when I want to send somthing to AE 5.5 it was a nightmare. I do  I love how it organizes keywords and the color correction tools are good if you want to do it your self (check out this site http://www.colorgradingcentral.com/final-cut-pro-x-color-grading-table-of-conten ts ) it will be a great program if apple listens to all the comments but does not make it too complicated the you cant create quickly.
