How do I send an iMessage to my e-mail inbox?

Using iPhone 3GS running iOS 6.1.3 on T-Mobile. How do I send texts or iMessages that will arrive in an e-mail inbox?
Thanks! Jason

fwiw, T-Mobile sent out a software update the other day that seems to have fixed this issue.

Add a contact with his e-mail address, and send a message to that contact. I would say integrate, but not 100% that it works. A new contact would work.

How do I send am iMessage to a friend that has an iPad device? She is in my contacts but when I enter her name it won't work. (*note she has no other apple devices.)

Has she registered her e-mail address and/or phone number with iMessage? Are you using the same one that she registered?
She should open Settings > iMessage and make sure that it's set up.

  • How can I send "new" iMessages to apple users?

I am unable to send new iMessages but I can send iMessages from previous threads. How can I send new iMessages to other apple users?

Just click the button in the top right corner that looks like a pencil on a piece of paper make sure you are at the main I message screen were all the threads are listed.
If that's not the issue you can try:
1.hold the home and power button for 10-11 seconds
    2. When the slide to power off comes up ignore that and keep holding home and power
    3. The screen will go black and you will see an apple logo that's when you can let go of the home and power button
    4. The. iPhone will come back on and you can try sending a message
If it still does not work
    1. Go to settings> General> Reset> select "Reset All Settings" this will not erase any data on the device it will only reset the settings
    2. After that try to send a message again
If that does not work you can try this
    1. Plug your iPhone into iTunes and click your iPhone in iTunes
    2. Then press backup iPhone
    3. Then restore your iPhone this will erase everything and reinstall the operating system
    4. Try to send a message and see if it sends
    5. Then go back into iTunes and select restore from backup and select the backup you made earlier this will put all the data back on the device all apps will need to be re downloaded but app data will still be on the device. Pictures and messages. Will also be their.
If that did not solve your issue I would then go into the apple retail store

How do you send a imessage to ipad from iphone

The iPad must have iMessage registered and enabled, and you need to address the iMessage to an email address that is set up and selected to be used with iMessage on the iPad. If the iPad owner also has an iPhone, an iMessage can be addressed to the iPhone's cell phone number if the iPad owner has their iPhone number selected to be reached at with iMessage on the iPad.

  • How do I send an iMessage, a step by step answer. I have read the manual and it doesnt explain how

Can someone explain how you send an iMessage. I know how to send texts and emails but I only want to use the iMessage so that my company bill doesnt show text numbers called. I have got iMessage turned on in settings. I have read the manual and it says you can do it but it doesnt say how.

Thanks for your response. It helps a little. I now dont know how to change the send button from green to blue. What determines how the message is sent?
I know in the settings I can turn off "send as sms" so that should stop text messages being sent. I went through my contact list and selected a few people at random and noticed the send button was green for some and blue for others so I am thinking it may be either something they do to let me iMessage them or it is something I have to do in my contact list.
    Do you know?

  • How can I send an imessage when the conversation is using jabber

I have a conversation going with a friend which started on iMessage, then transferred to jabber (google talk).
    - He's now offline, so I want to send an imessage in the existing conversation.
    - If I send anything it attempts to use jabber.
    - I already have a second conversation going as the only way I could see around this last time was to create a new imessage conversation.
    - The contact drop down only has jabber as an option for the user.
    How can I do this?!

  • How can I send/receive iMessages from my iPhone 5 on my MacBook Air?

When I first got my MacBook Air (January 2015), iMessages updated automatically upon sign in to display all of my text conversations from my iPhone 5. I also used to see incoming and missed phone calls by default. As of the beginning of March 2015 when I sign in, my MacBook Air does not sync messages from my iPhone at all and I have stopped receiving phone related notifications. Also my MacBook Air is sending all messages from my email address as opposed to my phone number.
I've looked at the Messages help guides for send and receive SMS and activated text forwarding for my MacBook using my iPhone but this still hasn't helped with me being able to see my phone call/text activity on my MacBook as I was able to prior to early March. The iOS is up to date on my MacBook and my iPhone. I've also checked my iCloud and Apple ID and both display my phone number as an eligible send/receive address.
Was there an update that changed a setting? I didn't have this trouble syncing messaging and phone when I set up my MacBook Air for the first time so I'm not sure what else to try. Someone help!

    Greetings jennamarie416,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that you would like to use the Apple Continuity features such as phone calls and text messages on your Mac. In this situation, I would recommend reading over the attached article for more information on these features and to ensure that they are set up correctly.

  • How can I send an imessage from my email account?

The imessage settings allow you to set an email address to "start new conversations" but I can't see how that works.

You use your apple id, (primary email address) to set up your messages and FaceTime account, but you communicate thru those apps not the email app.

  • How do I send an imessage to an IPAD user from my desktop?

When using my iphone, its easy to send a message to an ipad user.  Knowing their appleid is part of the battle.  But sending a message using my notebook/desktop does not seem as easy.  Please tell me that I am missing something very simple.  I am also using this in business.  So if I have a way to communicate with my staff via ipads/desktop/notebook, that would be great.  Maybe there is a way of doing so using my chat app on my notebook?

iMessages or any form of text messaging is not available on any desktop or laptop.

  • How do you send an iMessage with my phone number, not an email address

Ever since I have had this iPhone on pay as you go with Vodafone in September, I have not had an option to use my phone number, it doesn't bother me as such but my friends get annoyed as one hour I'd reply on text as their contact and the next it will use iMessage when I have Internet as my apple Id email address. How do I do this!!!!

There is no option, just emails. I signed out of apple Id and signed back in, it asked me to use either my number of email so I deselected my email but the phone number was greyed out, it hasn't activated again so I don't think it has worked.

  • How do I send an iMessage?

So my iMessage is activated in settings and I can imessage people, but only if they imessage me first. I can only make a new text message not a new iMessage.

The process for composing and sending a message in the Messages app is the same regardless of whether the message is an iMessage or SMS. Tap the compose button (looks like a little paper and pencil in the upper right corner). Enter the sender. Enter the message. Tap Send.
If you mean that when you send a message, it always goes as an SMS (green), make sure you have an active data connection.
