How do I send mail from an alias?
I have a .mac mail account, and would like to send mail from an alias I created.
Although I can receive mail to the alias, I don't know how to send from it. Does anyone know how I can send mail so that my sender's name is my alias?

First, if you Compose a new message, confirm that you do not have an Account box below Subject, or if you do, when you click on the arrows beside it, you are not presented with a choice of your .mac alias?
It may be that you have to click on the Edit Email Aliases button, and go, via it, to the .Mac web pages, and be sure your alias is noted by Mail, but make no changes. I have seen this question, and I do not remember when my alias was first made available. If this does not resolve, I will have to test by establishing still another one for myself, and see what is needed to get it recognized.
Do you have any other accounts set up in Mail, besides your .mac?

I have a gmail account ([email protected]) that forwards to another gmail account ([email protected]). How do I respond to email in iPad mail from the forwarded account (1@gmail)? Right now, only [email protected] can send email. This is possible in gmail in a browser but not in the Mail app. thank you!

You'd need to set that up with your mail provider
For example, I use yahoo. Id' need to access yahoo via safari and their web interface and see what kind of forwarding or auto replies I can set up.
The iPad mail app won't do it, it has to be done at the server level through your mail provider. -

Is there any way to isolate the messages coming in from an alias e-mail account? I would like to be able to click on the alias account from Mail on my iPhone or Mac to see just those messages - the way you would if you had a secondary e-mail account from an outside source. Is that possible???
Go to the Mail page at http://icloud.com and create a new Mailbox. The click on the cogwheel icon at top right and choose 'Rules'. Create a Rule to move all messages addressed to the alias to the new Mailbox. This Mailbox will appear on your devices and you can select it to see the messages to the alias.

How to activate "Send mail" from print preview in ME23N
In ME23N there is a "print preview"-button that shows a preview of the PO. In the preview-windows there is a Text-menu with a "Send mail"-command, but that command is not active. How can I activate this command so that it is possible to send the PO to an email-recepient?
I have configured the smtp-functionality (SCOT++) and sending PO's as email to suppliers in ME9F works fine by choosing "Send external". But still the Send mail-option is inactive in preview-mode. Any tips?

I have added many accounts in my Gmail account and i've selected "Reply from the same address the message was sent to" in Gmail option. So whenever i reply to any mail, it automatically sends from the account on which i had received the mail.
How can i get the same configuration in Apple mail?In the 'new message' window click the three line option button to 'Customize…' the window.
Enable the 'From field' & click OK to save the new field settings. If these accounts are setup in Mail you can now select them when replying or sending new mail.
Also check the 'Mail > Composing tab' preferences. There is an option to 'Send from selected mailbox' that may help if Mail is setup with all of the relevant email accounts.
Otherwise you may need to log in to gmail on the web & reply from there. Apple Mail cannot understand how gmail & forwarding from other accounts is setup so it cannot try to reply from another account that isn't setup on the Mac. -

I’ve tried using the same settings in my new iPhone5, but it doesn’t work. I can receive mail to both accounts, and can send from the Yahoo account, but I cannot send mail from the alias account. When I try, it displays the message: “Cannot send mail. A copy has been placed in your Outbox. The recipient ‘[email protected]’ was rejected by the server”.
I’ve tried to configure the POP alias account using combinations of ‘pop.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.pop.mail.yahoo.com’, for the incoming host, and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server. None of these have worked.
I’ve also tried setting it up using IMAP instead of POP without success. I tried configuring it using combinations of ‘imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ and ‘apple.imap.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the incoming mail server and ‘smtp.o2.co.uk’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.com’, ‘smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’, ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.com’ and ‘apple.smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk’ for the outgoing mail server.
Yahoo say that if I can't send Yahoo! Mail from my mail program, I may be accessing the Internet through an ISP that is blocking the SMTP port, and that if this is the case, I should try setting the SMTP port number to 587 when sending email via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. I don't think that this is the problem, but I tried it just to make sure - without success.
I’ve also heard that the problem might have something to do with the SPF settings of my alias domain provider. I’m not too sure exactly what SPF settings are, or how to change them, but from what I can gather it seems unlikely that this is the problem given that I was able to send mail from my alias account on my old iPhone3.
Any help much appreciated: how can I get my alias account to send emails in iPhone5 mail?

PatrickA new development: I've tried sending emails from the alias several times over the past 24 hours, but in general I've deleted them if they haven't sent within about half an hour.
However, one of the messages I left sitting in the outbox did send successfully in the end, but this took about an hour.
So: perhaps my problem is not in fact that I am completely unable to send mail from my alias, but that I can only do so intermittently and extremely slowly, and by ignoring the "cannot send" message.

I have two alias emails that I use for our web page, as well as for alternate email addy. When I try to send mail from the alias addresses in the Mail app I get the "cannot send using the server smtp.mac.com. The server response was: 5.7.0 From address is not one of your addresses Use the pop up menu below...". I have to select a different SMTP server and .mac server does not show on the listing but rather the other email servers (i.e. google/cox etc)
I have removed accounts, deleted servers, re-created cache etc for the Mail application, and even did a test of the address which worked fine once before.
My goal is to send announcements to family from the one alias so I know it was in response to the web page announcements etc. I wish to keep my primary as private as possible.

From the Mail application I wish to "send" from the Alias(s) rather than my main email address i.e. - main email is [email protected], I created [email protected] via Mobile Me as an alias, in Mail application it allows you to select the "account" from which to send from. If I select the alias, I get the error message.
2) They are alias(s) that are part of my main email address for .mac. So I believe the are valid, unless I miss-understand the use of an alias and it is only for receiving mail.
3) Not sure, I think they would use the .mac SMTP server (?) -

answer anyone!!!I have to agree with you , I too was disappointed to see that with IOS 4 on my iphone I still cant send from an alias. This is a feature thats available with the .me web access so why not the iphone mail app? If they can't do it, then at least let me be able to use .me via safari on the iphone and ipad.

I have an iPhone 3GS and am trying to figure out how to send mail from an Apple alias. It only let's me send it from my Apple ID account (which I made when I was 11 or so and is really immature, haha) and not the alias that I use to send mail from when I'm on my Mac.
Is there a way to do it? I read that one person created a separate inbox with their alias, but it doesn't accept mine since I don't use it to log in (it has no password). I did try to use my Apple ID password, but that doesn't work either.

CalebIf all you are looking to do is send an email from a different "from" account (aliased email), just simply put that email account in the Address field separated by a comma. It works almost identical to Mail on OSX. It will then take whatever account you have setup with the primary and add that as an email aliased from account. You then send (or reply) to your email select which "from" address you would like to use and you should be set. Hope this helps.

However, I have 2 gmail accounts set up on apple mail, but when I send mail from one of my gmail accounts (I choose the specific gmail account in the drop down window), it actually goes out as if it is from the other gmail account. I can't have that happen because one is my job, the other is a personal business account and unfortunately, the mail from both gmail accounts want to send through the personal business account. How do I make it send from a specific gmail account? I even tried deleting the accounts and setting them up again hoping I set it up wrong in the first place, but to no avail, it is still doing the same thing except this time I set the job account up first and then the personal business account and now everything goes from the job account! The only good thing is that the incoming messages work properly and they go into the correct inbox. Somebody please fix my outbox!
In Mail Preferences/Accounts/each GMail account, set up the SMTP Outgoing Server for each account separately, going into SMTP name/edit/Advanced and specify the Username of each account. The Outgoing servers must be two different servers, authenticated by the Username and Password of each.
Otherwise, the GMail SMTP server will change the from address to that of the account where the SMTP server was setup.
