How do I send video (or any files) from my ipad 2 to my iMac ?

I have an iPad 2 and an iMac. I am not that advanced technically but I managed to do this in the past but the how/why seems lost to me now !!
I SIMPLY WANT TO SEND VIDEO TAKEN ON MY IPAD TO MY MAC WIRELESSLY.
I know the later iPads have AirDrop, but I have downloaded Dropbox for use with my iPad 2. When I have tried to send photos, videos, (by clicking on the box with an arrow) the iPad 2 only offers mail, message, icloud, vimeo, facebook options. Nowhere do i see the dropbox logo, or other options.
iCloud is a mystery to me. I have no idea how it works. Photostream seems to randomly get files onto my Mac, but how or why I have no idea.
Bluetooth is equally strange. I can connect iPad to iMac but then what? I don't see ways of exploring files either way.
Is there an issue with PROXIMITY ? Does the ipad have to be near the Mac for Dropbox to work ?
I now how to find the file, select the file, click the upload/share icon... after that I am stumped!
Looking forward to any help.

Upload video to Dropbox.
1. Launch Dropbox on iPad
2. Tap the "..."
3. Select "Upload"
4. Select Camera Roll
5. Select video to upload
6. Tap "Upload"

  • How do I send videos and photo's from my mobile to the iPad via Bluetooth?

I am trying to send videos and photo's to my iPad from my mobile via Bluetooth but it won't work. The phone pairs with the iPad but won't connect to send files. Do I need an app for this? I am not very technical minded so please try and keep the answer as simple as possible.
    Thanks

The simplest thing I can think of is, a app called iFiles. It costs £1.79.
There is a free similar type program called Dropbox, but this one requires a wifi connection to access the files etc you have uploaded. Whereas the iFiles app doesn't need any type of connection after the files etc have been uploaded.
Once you have installed the iFiles app on the iPad. Connect the iPad to your computer via the usb cable.
The iPad will now appear on the left handside. Left click on it. Along the top of the screen you will see, summary, apps, music and so on.
Click on the word APPS. You will now see at the bottom of the screen a section called FILE SHARING, along with two little windows. On the left side box should be iFiles. Click on the iFiles entry in this box.
Next you should see on the right handside window, iFile documents, at the bottom of this box is a button with ADD on it. Click on this and locate the files etc on your computer that you are wanting added onto your iPad, click on the SYNC button, they are then uploaded onto your iPad and they are now available for you to access wherever you are. You don't need any connection, i.e. wifi, cellular connection.
Here's a couple of screen shot showing what I have explained above:

  • How do I send a picture to facebook from my Ipad

I just got a card reader for my I pad.  I see that I can email a picture or send to Twitter, but not to Facebook.  How can I post a picture to Facebook from my Ipad?

Not sure what the card reader has to do with posting to Facebook?
In Safari navigate to your Facebook page and the tap on Add Photos/Videos. You can then select photos from the albums in your Photos app.
You can do the same thing using the Facebook app.
If the photos are on a camera card, copy them to your Photos app first.

  • How do I upload files from my iPad to my Imac?

How do I transfer files from my Ipad to my Intel Imac computer? Also, how do I delete files from my Ipad?
I would like to transfer some image files and some movie files to my computer.
Is there a prefered app for this?
    Thanks, barr

To copy photos and videos in the Photos app that were taken with the iPad, copied to it via the camera connection kit, or saved from emails/websites then see this page - on a Mac you can use iPhoto, Aperture or Image Capture. If that is what you also want to delete from the iPad then you can either do it as part of the import process, or you can delete them directly in the Photos app, either via the trashcan icon in the top right corner if viewing the photo in full screen, or via the icon of the box with the arrow coming out of it (Edit button on iOS 6) in thumbnail view. If they were originally synced from a computer then they can only be deleted by de-selecting them on Photos tab and re-syncing, they can't be deleted directly on the iPad.
If they are in other apps then it will depend upon what apps that they are in, different apps have different ways of copying their content to/from a computer - either via the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to iTunes, via wifi, email, dropbox etc. iTunes purchases can be copied back to your computer via File > Transfer Purchases (File > Devices > Transfer Purchases on iOS 6).

  • How do I transfer non-iTunes music files from my iPad to my MacBook using home sharing?

My MacBook Pro hard drive recently had to be replaced by Apple, because it quit for some reason they couldn't identify. However, now my ipad2 doesn't recognize my macbook pro and I have at least 200 music files in my library on my iPad that I did not get from iTunes. I need to upgrade my iPad to iOS 5 but I also don't want to lose all those music files. I was hopeful I could use home sharing to sync my iTunes libraries, but I can't figure out how to export files from my iPad. Please help, anyone?

I just installed the lastest upgrade to Final Cut Pro X.  I have an external hard drive connected to my computer and I want to import video and sound files into Final Cut Pro X- how do I make the transfer?

  • How do I send a 30 minute movie from my iPad to a friend with PC and iPad

I took a 31 minute video of a friends daughter in Hawaii.  I need to send it to her so she can open it with a PC. How do I get it from my iPad to her.  I have it on my MacBook Pro as well.  Should I just burn a cd?  How do I find out how big the file is so I know if the cd will hold it?  Thanks

You can try using iTunes on the PC. I don't know if it will allow albums to be transferred. But it's worth a try. Otherwise you can always email and download photos to a folder on your PC or use a service like dropbox transfers of photos to the folder.

  • How do I OUTPUT an edited picture file from the iPad (latest) to an external USB for easy transfer?

I am a photographer and I use my camera and iPad everyday. Camera takes pictures, connect to iPad, edit pictures with iPad software, output to Internet somwhere (Dropbox, etc..).
However, sometimes I need to hand someone a USB stick with an edited picture on it that came directly from the iPad. I know that I could do it by buying another computer but that would be silly. I do not have another computer.
I need to get the picture file OFF the iPad onto an external storage device (USB stick for instance). Can anyone help?

Currently you can't use the camera connection kit to export pic to a USB thumb drive or an SD card.

  • How can I transfer part of iPhoto files from my hard drive of iMac to free up  my hard drive which is 95% full

My IMAC 24" Early 2008, with Hard Drive of 500 is running out of Memory, down to 25 MGHz. Since I have large collection of photographs in my IPhoto, with fair numbers in raw forms, I presume most of the memory is taken by them. I am unable to find weather that is the cause of low memory, and if it is so,  how can I transfer part of them into external hard drive to free up the space. Help into yhe matter will be appreciated. Thanks

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    1. Quit iPhoto
    2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
Now you have two full versions of the Library.
    3. On the Internal library, trash the Events you don't want there
Now you have a full copy of the Library on the External and a smaller subset on the Internal
    Some Notes:
As a general rule: when deleting photos do them in batches of about 100 at a time. iPhoto can baulk at trashing large numbers at one go.
You can choose which Library to open: Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library'
You can keep the Library on the external updated with new imports using iPhoto Library Manager

  • How can I transfer "Pages" files  from my IPad to my Mac?

How can I transfer "Pages " files from my IPad to my IMac, I cannot use ICloud because I have Mountain Lion installed on the IMac?

Actually, you can use iCloud and the way that you so it is to log into iCloud.com on the Mac (use Safari for best results) click on the Pages icon and then drag the Pages files into the browser window. It works the other way around as well. Log into iCloud.com on the Mac and download the files from Pages (that you created on the iPad) in iCloud onto your Mac. You can click on the file in the documents window and select it to Download by clicking on the Gear icon or right click upon the file and select download.
The files will then sync to the Pages app on the iPad - assuming hat you have use iCloud tuned on in Settings>Pages>Use iCloud>On. I have an iMac running Tiger 10.4.11 that I can still move Pages/Word files back and forth Iike this.
Also, File Sharing with iTunes is a great way to move the files back and forth.

  • Video Podcasts Not Syncing From my iPad Mini to iTunes for Windows

Hello all.  I have the iPad Mini, and recently have been downloading my Podcasts there.
It occurred to me that in case something happens to my iPad, I should have my Podcasts backed up to my computer.  So, i downloaded iTunes for Windows on my computer.  I plugged my iPad Mini into my computer and synced it, so that my Podcasts would sync from my iPad Mini to my iTunes Library.
I noticed that all of my podcasts did sync, except for the 3 video podcasts I have.  None of the video podcasts synced.
Anyone know how I can get my video podcasts to sync from my iPad Mini to my iTunes Library?
    Thank you in advance!

Just wanted to kick my question back up. to see if anyone had any idea how to get my video podcasts to sync from my iPad Mini to iTunes on my computer.
Audio podcasts seem to be syncing fine.  Just the video podcasts are not.
    Thanks.

  • How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Mail, without the photos appearing within the email?s

How can one send email-sized photo files as attachments in Apple Mail, without the photos appearing in the body of the email?  If it can be done, it's not at all obvious, at least not to me.  Thanks for any help you can provide.

The "View as icon" option shrinks the photo to an icon in the sender's Apple Mail, but how it appears to the recipient varies dependingy on what e-mail client he/she uses.
Using Apple Mail 5.0 (the Lion version) at both ends, the sender can use the "View as icon" option to shrink his view of the photo to an icon, but the recipient also using Apple Mail 5.0 still sees the full photo in line with the message text. The recipient can then use the "View as icon" option to shrink it to an icon, but I don't think that's not what jackofarabia is looking for.
As far as I know there is no way in the current Apple Mail to do what jackofarabia wants. There should be, but there isn't.

  • How can I send video email

I see a lot of sites offering video email. Does .mac offer video email? If so, how do I send video email.

You can attach a QuickTime or other video file to a mail message, though these tend to get clipped off and stripped off at mail servers — even compressed video files tend to be huge. The recipient gets to buffer the file in local storage, and can also have issues downloading the file on slower links.
You can send HTML-format mail and link to a video file on a server. (I tend to avoid loading HTML files from remote sites for various reasons, and I'm not alone here.) This is probably what these "video email services" are providing: storage, and a way to link to it from within an HTML-format mail message.
Or you could look to iChat or other such interactive mechanisms. iChat is part of Mac OS X and iChat Server is part of Mac OS X Server.
As for .Mac and such, a specific [.Mac Discussion Forum|http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=116] is available, as is the [Apple Mail client forum|http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=753].
