How do I set a default email application in Firefox, so that when I click on an email link it will automatically use Yahoo! instead of Microsoft email etc.?

Currently it defaults to Windows Livemail 2011. Not sure I want to use this or if it even matters...?

  • How do i set up my mac, iPad and iPhone so that when i delete mail on one it syncs and deletes it from the others at the same time?

Hi, how do i set up my iMac, iPad and iPhones so that when i delete an e-mail (or other action) from one it automatically syncs and duplicates the action on the other devices?

You need an IMAP-type email service rather than a POP-type mail service. IMAP automatically does what you want. Contact your email provider to see if they offer IMAP.

  • How can I set the default home page in Firefox 4 for all users that login to a PC on a Win 7 PC?

I work at a community college in upstate NY.
We use Firefox as the default browser at our institution and we have always set the default homepage to be our homepage for all users that login to the PC. We had a procedure to to that that worked with Windows XP and FF 3 or earlier
    We would do the following:
    1. go to: c:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla\FireFox\Profiles\<profile_name>\prefs.js
    2. Add the line: user_pref (“browser.startup.homepage”,”http://www.genesee.edu”);
    3. Copy the Folder
    C:\Documents & Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Mozilla
    To
    C:\Documents & Settings\Default User\Application Data\Mozilla
    4. Restart the computer
We're going to Win 7 and Firefox 4 and things seem to be different in terms of files and file structure. Does anyone know how to accomplish this?
    Thanks in advance.

Making customisation from the default profile is generally considered poor practice and quite often doesn't work out as planned. (If you're interested in some more information on this, [http://mockbox.net/windows-7/227-customise-windows-7-default-profile.html see here] see here)
This article should help you with developing and deploying your customised Firefox 4 installation (without touching the Windows 7 default user profile):

The main problem is that lettering is small and sometimes run together when I use Firefox. I use to have winxp system that I ran Firefox on with no problems. I don't like using IE of any kind.

  • How do I set ical default values in lion?

I have just upgraded to Lion and so far, so good.  In the new iCal, how do I set the default values?  In the old version, when you clicked on the calendar, the default value was a 1 hour meeting around the current time of day.  The new version defaults to an all-day meeting.  I like the old way better, or best would be to have it as a preference.
Is there a way to set this that I'm not seeing?

    Mike,
It sounds to me like you are using the "Month" view for that entry.
Default event creation in Month view results in an all day event.
Lion iCal Help (Add events to a calendar) says: "Add a new event in Month view by double-clicking within the day you want the event to appear. Enter a name and time duration for the event in the event’s title field, and then press Return."
Try entering "Meeting at 9am"...that will create a one hour event named Meeting.

A few weeks ago I downloaded some free software from the "tucows.com" website, it appears to have permanently hijacked my web browsers (both firefox and IE) so all searches go to their "searchqu" site, and new tabs open at that site. I was unable to repair this with the addins you suggested or by editing my user preferences files, and ended up having to reinstall firefox. Hopefully I won't run into the tucows rootkit ;)
    But thanks anyway.

  • How do I set the default welcome page for PUBLIC user

    gurus,
    i'm using -
    Oracle 9i Database
    Oracle 9ias Portal Release 2
QUESTION => how do I set the default welcome page for the PUBLIC user.
i did the following to achieve this -
    1. logged into portal
    2. clicked on builder
    3. clicked on administer tab
    4. selected PUBLIC user in the Portal User Profile portlet
    5. went to the preferences tab
    6. in the default home page selected a custom page group
    7. logged out of portal
    8. open a new browsere session
    9. type the portal URL and i get the login page ....??
i'm unable to understand this behavior ... shouldn't i be getting the page group that i set for the PUBLIC user in step 6 above ....
the second QUESTION is => when the user logs out he/she should see the PUBLIC page set in step 6 above ... but, instead the user sees a page that is as follows -
Partner Application Name Logout Status [Logout Status]
    Oracle Portal (portal) logout status
    The SSO Server (orasso) checkmark
    buzz.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
    infrastructure.happy.resva.trw.com checkmark
    portal1.buzz.resva.trw.com checkmark
    portal2.sylvester.resva.trw.com checkmark
    sylvester.resva.trw.com:7778 checkmark
so, how can i set the default page for the PUBLIC user and also a page when he user logs out.
    ideas anyone ....?
    thanx a bunch.
    hero

    Hi,
The sequence of operation you are doing to set the home page for public users is correct. You are getting the login screen as the "custom page group" selected as "home page" has not been granted to public.
Also, while logging-out, it is normal behaviour to get the screen where it shows the list of partner applications from where user has been logged-out. When you click on "Return" button, you will get to the "home page" set above.
    Hope it clarifies the things.
    Regards,
    Ved

    2. I have a JTextArea that I append recieved messages. But when a message is appended, the whole desktop screen refreshes. How can I prevent that?

  • How to control/set window size of applications?

When I press "command-shift-A" my application folder opens on the desktop. However, it always opens in a very small size requiring me to enlarge the window to see the entire folder. How can I set a default size of the entire screen when this window opens? thank you.

Open the folder and resize it to what you want. Now close it.
It should open to that size. If it doesn't, you've got some problems which I'll have to search around cuz I can't remember how to fix them.

    no such provider: SUN
So it looks like my default keystore password is not the same as that in the code above (I've replaced it with ******). How do I set the default keystore to be the same as in the code above? Please note the exact same code works for another application - and so I would like to use the same class file rather than having to change the code above.

You define the password for a keystore when you create it.
    There is no default.
There is a default on the 'cacerts' truststore provided for JSSE: see

  • How do I set a default Finder to include the Tabs I want?

When I reboot, or even when I click Command+N for a new Finder window, I have to set up my Tabs again.  How can I set a default?

Command-N calls up a new window or tab, it doesn't call up old windows and tabs.
Better: Instead of closing your Finder window when you know you'll want it back again, minimize it to the Dock (command-M) to move it out of the way.
To get your Finder back after shut down or restart, go to System Preferences > General and uncheck the box, 'Close windows when quitting an application.' Also, after you select Shut Down... or Restart..., make sure that the box, 'Reopen windows when logging back in' is checked...
