In the Composing pane of Mail's preferences window, look for the pop-up menu labeled "Send new messages from." Select the desired account there.
Note, though, that this won't change the behavior when replying to a message... in that case, the reply will be sent from the account that received the message, unless you specify differently at that time.

Every time I click on a web site that has an email option the browser starts making untitled web pages and never stops unless I turn the computer off. Edit the SMTP server list. Add a new one for the business account. Put the correct password and information for it. Give it a description so you will know which server is which. Mke sure the correct server is highlighted in the account selected and check the box to use only that server for that account. Do that for the other account also.

There are a couple of ways of doing this. The easiest is probably to just add the secondary address in the Mail.app -> Preferences -> Accounts field.
The specifics of which vary a little based on the OS/Mail.app version you're running, but in Yosemite:
Mail -> Preferences -> Accounts
Select your iCloud account and change the 'Alias' popup menu from your iCloud address to 'custom'.
Doing this enables the 'Email Address' field. In this field you can enter the email address you want to appear in your From header.
If you want to use multiple addresses (e.g. your iCloud address and your other alias), you can enter a comma-separated list of addresses - e.g. '[email protected], [email protected]' and then you'll have a pop-up menu on each new message where you can choose the address to use for each outgoing message. I'm using Adobe Reader 9.5.5 and Mac OS 10.7.5.
Every time I open a PDF that's been emailed to me, Reader thinks it's US legal size, 11" x 14". Printing the document becomes a mess, unless I first remember to go File > Page setup > Paper size > US letter.

I am replying to my own question. I learned that if you right click when trying to open a PDF, you are asked which app you wish to use to open the file. If you click on Get Info, instead of choosing an app, you get this great information box which gives you the option to set Adobe Reader as your default app for PDF files. It even allows you to change all the pdf files you already have to Adobe Files. Yay.

You can still share an iTunes account for purchasing and downloading content. Just create a new Apple ID for iCloud to use for Messaging. If you try to create a new Apple ID for music and content, everything on their phone is tied to the Apple ID used for purchases, and would then require the password for that Apple ID to update. The way I described is easier.

How can I make AOL Desktop software my default e-mail when trying to connect from a a web site on Firefox?

When I click on a link on a website meant for e-mailing--using Windows 7 I no longer have the option of sending it through my AOL Desktop software as I used to in Windows XP. Is there an option in Firefox that will allow me to use the AOL Desktop software as my default e-mail program?

This didn't work. There is no option provided in Firefox for AOL--no add on either. And windows 7 does not let you use a browser based e-mail--even you change the registry--it will bring you to the AOL browser but won't open a "write" e-mail box and enter the name of the recipient automatically as it did in Windows XP by changing the option in internet options...someone must have a way of doing this...

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

Please read and begin using Can receive email, but not send email. I had a similar issue with Comcast mail (could receive by not send) and found my answer in this letter. For me it took resetting the outgoing mail and telling the system to use a password when sending outgoing mail. If you need help with that please advise and I'll tell you where to look.
