How do i set a password to access the app store?

We are trying to access the apps on our ipod touch. It asks for my email address and password. What's my password? The one for my email? Or is there one for the ipod itself?

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings

The phone has been restored from settings from an old iPod Touch. The Apple ID username there worked well then, but I have since updated that. The email is no longer useable (university) and the passwords I have tried do not work - nor should they since I have updated my Apple account. Quit the App Store app and reset your iPad.
Double click the Home button to show the screen with running and recently used apps. Each app icon will have a sample page above it. Flick up on the page (not the app icon) and the page will fly away and the app icon will disappear. This quits that app. Then reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. See if that fixes your problem.

If she has trouble with the first advisor, she can always ask to speak to a senior advisor. However, AppleCare isn't really needed in cases like this, as the iTunes Store is quite familiar with accounts of this nature, and it's more of their speciality. Your daughter may want to contact them next time, but it's only email support at the moment (soon to change).

I have never experienced that or read about it either but before you resort to restoring - and that may be what you have to end up doing - try the basics first.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Sometimes just restarting the iPad can really help. The resolution may end up being more complicated, but try the simple things and then move on.
