How do I set a song from my music folder as a ringtone?

I have downloaded a song onto my phone from iTunes but I cannot find a way to set it as my ringtone. It was not downloaded as a ringtone, just as a song. Is this something that can be done?

The procedure is the following:-
*right click the song on itunes and click get info.
*under the option, check in the start time and end time- This is the exactly which part of the song you want to make your ringtone.
*Click Ok.
* Again right click in the same song and click the CREATE AAC VERSION
* Now you can see the same two song. if you have made the short length in step 2, lenght will be different.and this will be in (.m4a) format. and if you dont see on itunes you can search the name on finder. you will find both files.
* Now you try to change the format (.m4a)  to (.m4r), you just delete a and add r and press enter bottom. and conform it.
*Now you add this files to the ringtone/tones on itunes which is located on the left side bar of itunes.
*make sure under the preference of your itunes under the general the tones section is checked in.
*go to your device on itunes. Under the tones check in sync tones. You can Sync all tones or the particular tones which you want.
*Now this tone is on your iphone. You can change your ringtone through setting>sound>ringtone and choose the particular one.

  • Can i set any song in the music folder as a ringtone? how?

i am a new iphone 4s user and i want to set a song from the music folder as a ringtone and i don't know how.. do you have any idea?

First create a ringtone from your song in iTunes, then sync it to your phone.  See

how do i set a song in my Music folder on my iPhone 5s as a ring tone?

You need to create a ringtone from your song using itunes (see Create free ringtones with iTunes 10), then select it on the Tones tab of your iTunes sync settings and sync it to your phone.  Once synced to your phone you will find it in Settings>Sounds>Ringtone at the top of the list.  (If you're using iTunes 11 you may need to go to View>Show Sidebar to follow the process shown in the linked video.)

    How do I designate
a song from my playlist as my new ringtone?

you will need to convert the song into a ringtone first.  either using iTunes http://www.ehow.com/how_2160460_custom-iphone-ringtones-free.html  or download the ringtone app, then create the ringtone and then sync with itunes.

    You have to create ringtones.
There are several free ways to do this.  Google will find them
    I use Garageband.

  • I got the new iPhone 5 how can I make a song from my music a ringtone, I got the new iPhone 5 how can I make a song from my music a ringtone

I got new iPhone 5 can't figure out how to make one of the songs from my music playlist a ringtone

There are many apps in the App Store, which you can download (many are free) that will let you take a song on your phone and turn it into a ringtone.  Virtually all of them will require that once you've made the clip, you do something like email it to yourself, then connect your phone to your computer, save it iTunes, then sync it to your ringtones library on your phone.  Go to the App Store and type in Ringtone.  Lot's of options will appear.

  • Need to know how to burn just selected songs from purchase music.

I'm new to Itunes and was wondering how I burn a CD using just four selected songs from my purchased list in Itunes. If I just check those songs I want to burn, Itunes burns the whole list. I can't seem to copy those four songs and paste them into a new playlist either.
    Thanks,
    Dick Skover

Just make a new playlist and drag (don't copy/paste) the four songs to it. Then burn that playlist.
    Hope this helps.

  • How do I set the songs on my iphone 4s as ringtones? I shouldn't have to buy new ringtones when I already have a whole music library to choose from!

How do I set the songs from itunes on my iphone 4s as ringtones? I shouldn't have to purchase ringtones when I have a whole music library on my iphone to choose from and songs that I have already purchased! I should not have to rebuy music!!
If anyone can help me on this that would be great!  Thank you!

My comment is the same as Dyson2003.
I am very disappointed, as I thought by purchasing a ringtone the set up would be easy - this I find to be extremely misleading. Before iPhone allows you to purchase a ringtone, they should make it very clear that to download a ringtone you will need the GarageBand programme in order to enable the ringtone to work.
I sent an email to the support team, in the hope that they would be able to advise me. I was basically referred to a telephone number for the country that I live in. In writing this email, when finished I think I am going to ask back for a refund.
In reading the above comments, I am even more annoyed because I've googled GarageBand only to see that theirs a cost of £2.99. I am so not impressed!

  • No songs show up in Owner's iPod when i remove them from the Music folder..

every time i transfer music to my Shuffle, and then remove the songs from the Music folder under Library, they won't show up in Owner's iPod whenever i connect my Shuffle to my PC. if i don't remove the songs from the Music folder under Library, they will show up in Owner's iPod every time i connect my Shuffle. i don't get it. the capacity is right, and i know there are songs on the Shuffle, but there's no way to maintain the playlist of songs (for example, remove a few songs and keep the others) because none of them show up in Owner's Ipod...
i also had another problem, that i was able to fix, with my wireless keyboard and mouse. whenever i removed the Shuffle from the USB connector, the lights on my keyboard and mouse remote would go out, and my keyboard and mouse would disconnect. also, the screen would turn gray, and i would have to hold the power butten down on the PC to get it to shut down. i changed the USB port i was using for the Shuffle, and that seemed to fix it, but i think that it's wierd that i moved my iPod Mini to that USB port and it doesn't do that when i remove it. anyway, i changed USB ports, and it works fine now, but i don't think it's a problem on my end because my iPod Mini works fine in that port. i think it's a software bug with the Shuffle...

    Solution: Don't do that...
Explanation: iTunes "updates" Shuffle each time it's connected. IF the Shuffle contains songs NOT in iTunes' library, they are removed from the Shuffle. THAT is the way it works.

  • TS4124 Hi, do you know how can I upload inelegible songs from itunes to Icloud. They are songs added from original CDs. Another question would be how can I transfer all the music I have in my Ipod Classic to my Itunes or ICloud as I want to back it up.

Depends on why it's ineligible.  If it's under 96 Kpbs, try right-clicking on the file and choosing Create AAC Version.  (If you don't see this option, go to iTunes>Preferences, click "Import Settings..." then choose "Import Using: AAC Encoder" and "Setting: iTunes Plus".)  Then rescan your library to see if this version will add to iTunes Match.  Or, after changing your import setting, just re-import the song to your iTunes library.
If the song is over 200 MB you would have to reduce it's size to make it eligible.
