How do I set command-click to open link in new tab in Yahoo Groups?

Yahoo Groups (neo) seems to disrespect a lot of user commands.
On other pages it works, but on Groups it simply opens it in the current tab.
Also, when I search, it won't find things that are "off the page" downwards. Only things that are scrolled off the page "upwards."
And whenever I go "back" either from their arrow or FF back arrow, it goes to the TOP of the message list. So I have to scroll scroll scroll back down looking for where I was.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • Command click to open link in new tab no longer works in google scholar

Well the question basically says it all. Starting a couple of weeks ago, i have not been able to command click links to open in new tabs (I am on a mac, OS X 10.6.8). This includes links to google books as well as library links. This only happens on google scholar. It also happens in 'safe mode'. I have contacted google support who have stated that this is a browser issue. They have not changed the coding of the scholar site. This is very frustrating. I have used FF for years and am now going to have switch to Safari, whose own command click function continues to work in google scholar. Any thoughts/ suggestions?

Yes this issue is definitely related to Firefox. As I stated at the outset, the command click works fine in safari (although I prefer not to use it due to its restriction of automatically opening enw files in EndNote).
I was curious as to whether the issue was triggered by new coding on the part of Google scholar. Doesn't seem that way. Although I am still curious whether some of the style coding of the scholar page is creating issues... Given that command clicking works on every other page including regular Google searches...
The point though, was to generate some leads as to where this problem may best be addressed and what is the best language with which to do so...
Any advice on how to actually get these questions to Firefox support? That is how I wound up here in the first place!

  • Everytime I open a new window to browse, in this new window I would right click to open link in new tab but the new tab always shows up in the other window.

I would click a link which opens a new window. Then in this new window, I would right click to open link in new tab. The new tab does not show up in this new window. It instead shows up in the original browser window. How can I make the new tab show up in the same window?

Firefox did have a behavior where some new windows -- those considered to be dialogs -- could not have new tabs, so new tabs were diverted to the window from which the dialog was opened.
According to the bug tracking system, a fix is in the works:
[https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=644729 644729 – Popup window with all toolbars visible causes new tabs to open in another browser window] referencing [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=485237 485237 – Need to treat popups consistently].
That second ones says Target Milestone: Firefox 12, so the fix probably didn't make it into Firefox 11.
    WORKAROUNDS
That first bug says there is an add-on to work around this -- it enables the middle mouse button to open links in a dialog window: [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/bug-586234-unfixer/ Bug 586234 Unfixer :: Add-ons for Firefox]. I haven't tried it myself.

  • Firefox Will not open a link in a new tab after I right click and then click on open link in new tab

When I right click A bunch of new options pop up and firfox will not open links in new tabs. Safe mode did nothing.

What do you mean with ''A bunch of new options pop up"''?
Can you open a new tab by clicking the plus button on the Tab bar?
Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test.

  • Right click to open link in new tab sometimes missing

    example:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/StannardRockLight
In Safari 3, I could right click on the image to the right and get the contextual menu item "Open link in new tab." In Safari 4, it's missing. However, if I hold down the command key and click, it does open in a new tab - so it seems to be an issue with just the contextual menu somehow.
This problem doesn't occur with every webpage.

    Hi Donnie
Seems if the image is contained within a frame, then no "save as" option appears. I suggest reporting the bug to Apple via the Safari Menu>Report Bugs to Apple.
Alternative for saving is to click/drag the image to the desktop.

  • Safari 3.1's right click problem opening links in new tabs

For those of us who use a two-button mouse and like to open links in new tabs, Safari 3.1 has introduced problems that didn't previously exist. Right-click to open a new tab, then go back to the original document, and the problem appears. The mouse cursor no longer underlines links that are scrolled over. That makes it hard to tell if links are live or not. To restore that capacity, you have to left click somewhere on the page. Only then does normally underlining resume.
A minor thing, but one that adds dozens of clicks to my day that weren't there before. Is there any way to avoid it?

I have exactly the same problem, and i dont know what could be the reason. i tried different things, reapir permissions, reinstall Safari, clear the cache without any result. also if the link has a floating/bubble window (or what), it freezes too, and have to click somewhere else into the page to clear them. very annoying. =(
...on Windows it works correctly by the way...

  • Setting up IE11 to open links in new tab

I am using Windows 8.1 and IE11. All I want is for my PC to open a new tab when I click on a link. I have read the questions and answers in the forum [from 2010!]; and yes, I KNOW I can
right click to do it but that is awkward with my touchpad. I could do it on my old PC, but apparently that functionality is now gone? I hope you can tell me about some workaround, otherwise I will have to change browsers [which I definitely do NOT want to
    do].
    Help!

Mr. Bear, I really appreciate that you're taking time to answer my questions, but unfortunately your first sentence confuses the heck out of me! :o(
You are saying that my IE links are
supposed to open in the same tab??
    I am not doubting your expertise as an MS MVP, but I DO know that on my old PC [running an earlier IE version] I was able to open links from the web into new tabs without the right-click business;
I specifically set it up to do so. Really, really!
Judging from the number of other users who have asked my same question, I'm not the only one, right?
    Re. your questions:
If you right-click on the link and select "Open in new tab" or "Open in new window," does the linked page load in the new tab/window
or is the new tab/window blank or empty? The linked page is properly loaded, not blank.
How long has a Norton application been installed on the
    computer?Since
June of this year. I bought the PC new in December 2013.
Is Firefox, Chrome or any other alternate browsers installed?
No. I’ve “grown up” with IE; I don’t trust Google [Chrome]; and I have never had a need to check out Firefox.
DISCUSSION: A lot depends on how the link is "constructed."
Here is a link that should open in a new tab or window
[it correctly opened in a new window]
here is a link that should open in the current tab.
[it correctly opened in the current tab]
    [Both links point to Google.]

  • ⌘-click to open link in new tab

In preferences, under tabs it says ⌘-click opens a link in a new tab and selects it. However, when doing exactly this, the link still opens in a new window. I am running Safari 2.0.4 (419.3). I have tabbed browsing enabled and open links is set to open in current window.

It works now, but not in Gmail. Could it be that a link inside of Gmail always opens a new window no matter what?! Seems strange that it would behave that way. I tried it however, and a link outside of Gmail opens in a new tab when I ⌘-click it, but inside of Gmail a link always opens in a new window.
    What do you think?

  • How can I set that pop-ups open in a new tab insted of new page/window?

    Dear Firefox Representative,
I'm a regular Firefox user. Since I updated to Firefox 4, all pop-ups open in a new window insted of a new tab. Altough I set in the settings that new pages should open in new tabs, all pop-ups show up in new resized windows with the new firefox.
    Thanks for any help,
    Tib

You can use JavaScript for this. For example:
    app.launchURL("http://www.adobe.com", true);
More information is in the Acrobat JavaScript reference. Note that this method is new to Acrobat 7. You can still use Acrobat 5 to create the JavaScript, but it won't work for versions less than 7, or for most users of non-Adobe PDF viewers. If you go this route, you should add some code that checks the version of Acrobat (Reader), and only execute the above code if 7 or above.

  • When I open new tabs using middle click or "Open link in new tab", the "reload current page" button doesn't work.

Doesn't matter how many times I click it. It just does nothing.

Do you have the Ask toolbar? If you do uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
If you do not have the Ask toolbar, check for another add-on that could be causing this, for details of how to do that see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Troubleshooting+extensions+and+themes

  • Ctrl-Shift-Click to open link in new tab (v10)

I came back to Firefox recently after trying to use Chrome for awhile. I was gratified by my return, except that in the update from v9 to v10, I found that one of my favorite keyboard shortcuts no longer worked as it had.
In v9 and previous, Ctrl-Shift-Click opened a link in a new tab and switched to it immediately. In v10, Ctrl-Shift-Click still opens the link in a new tab, but does not switch to it, even with '''Options: Tabs: When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately''' enabled.
When using the mouse method of opening a link in a new tab, it does switch to it immediately as expected.
I thought I was going to have to live with this (or not), but then found a bit of documentation noting that Ctrl-Click now provides the functionality I was used to.
Great! But on the other hand, backward compatibility with the old functionality would have spared me some temporary disappointment and some extra digging.
BTW, I note in another post several of the reasons why I came back to Firefox from Chrome.

Thanks, Edmeister, that info about the setting reversing the effects of the two key combo's is useful.
Having just installed FF 10 on a fresh installation of Windows, I see that the default setting for '''When I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately''' is un-checked, and Ctrl-Shift-Click switches to the new tab as I had come to expect.
But on my own existing installation, that setting is checked. So if your observation about the behavior being uniform across v 8, 9 and 10 is correct, then I guess I must have changed this setting when I upgraded to v.10, or else the setting somehow "slipped" during the upgrade.

  • Middle click not opening link in new tab. Windows 7 Firefox 17.0.1

Middle click suddenly stopped opening new tabs when links are clicked on. I was running 16, but updated to 17 (latest) to try to fix the problem. I am using a Logitech mouse and keyboard. Worked until this week.
I really need this working again.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do not click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

  • I used to be able to use Ctrl+click to open links in new tabs. I can't anymore for no reason.

It's two days now. Yes, I have Tab Mix Plus but I've reset it's settings and the problem has not come from that add-on.

apparently its a compatibility bug between greasemonkey and tab mix plus. If you have both those installed, the fix is to download the latest build of greasemonkey, 0.9.11, here:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/versions/?page=1#version-0.9.11

  • How do I get my hotmail to open in a new tab instead of a new window and I've tried the middle click/ctlr option.

MSN is my home page and when I click on the hotmail link in the top left hand corner of the page it always opens in a new window even if I press middle-click/ ctrl keys. The hotmail link is the only link that I have had this problem with thus far. Can you help me correct this problem?

Hotmail opens in a new window because the code or set of instructions on the MSN website tells Firefox to open Hotmail in a new window. I would suggest you right click on the Hotmail button and left click on "Open Link in New Tab". This will open a new tab in the current window.
