How do I set locations in Photos?

How do I add locations to photos I import from a camera that does not have GPS? This was very easy to do in iPhoto, but I cannot find it anywhere in Photos.

Cannot from within Photos app, from what I have read around this Forum.
I was surprised by this also. I am hoping this feature will be added in.
Exporting and adding Location and Import back is not something I'm about to bother with for thousands of scanned pictures.
Does not make sense that one of the features of searching by location is neutered.

How do I add locations to photos through iPhoto on iPad?

Hi There,
I have tried searching through the forums to find an answer to this but can't seem to find it, but apologies if I've just completely missed this and it has been covered!
My understanding is that when you want to add a location to a photo through iPhoto you need to select the 'Info' option and then just type in the location, but when I select Info there is no option to add a location, it just gives you basic information and then gives you the opportunity to comment on it. Am I just misunderstanding how you are meant to add locations or am I clicking on the wrong option?

I believe you can add location information through iPhoto '11 on the Mac, but not using iPhoto for iOS. In other words, the iPhone/iPad version of iPhoto will display map data if it is associated with a photo already, but you cannot add that map data to photos in iPhoto for iOS.
If you want to have map data associated with photos on your iPad, you have to add the location information to the photos using the desktop version of iPhoto, then import those photos to your iPad.

and remind me at a location.
turn on location. if it asks you for permission to use location make sure to select yes.
enter an addres, and pick when i arrive there, or when i leave there.
then click done at the top.
you can also use siri to create reminders.

How do I set a wallpaper photo without it zooming in all the way and and not letting me zoom out?

When I try to change my wallpaper using my own photos on both my iPad and iPhone with ios7, it will not allow me to move and scale. When I do it, it automatically zooms back in on the photo.

I have the same problem on my iPad, but I figured out the fix on my iPhone. Go to settings, general, then accessibility, and turn on the thing that says reduce motion. Sometimes that still doesn't work so you have to screenshot the picture then use the screenshot, I don't know why. But for the iPad, I did the same thing and it didn't work. I have googled it many times and I'm shocked that Apple hasn't done anything about it yet. Hope that helped!

First you make a new album. Move the pictures into the new album. In the new album tap select, hold your finger on the photo, move photo, tap done.

Photo elements wants to open last used dir location. When it doesn't exist or cannot access, it fails to open. How do you set the default file location?

Does not seem to be a way to set a default location or to change the location.
VERY ANNOYING.

Hi,
I did a test as you suggested - open an image on a removable drive, close the editor and took the removable offline. When I next went to the editor, it opened OK.
From the screen shot in message #5 above, I think that the fault is with SolidWorks. I am not familiar with that product but it seems to be a form of asset management and it can't open its database - is that on the removable?
Normally, the editor does not open any files when it loads except for it program files and any addins. Could SolidWorks be an addin?
See if this works to reset the preferences.

Hold down the Ctrl, Shift & Alt keys when you double click on the shortcut. Keep the keys held down and eventually a message box will pop up asking if you want to reset the preferences - you do.

Make sure the drive is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
1. Quit iPhoto
2. Copy the iPhoto Library from your Pictures Folder to the External Disk.
3. Hold down the option (or alt) key while launching iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Choose Library' and navigate to the new location. From that point on this will be the default location of your library.
4. Test the library and when you're sure all is well, trash the one on your internal HD to free up space.

My "iPhoto" or "Mail" automatically reduces photos to about 40 KB .
My photos, taken with a common Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ20 include flora which I send to a publisher.
I am fairly new to my MacBook (Mac S X Version 10.6.8). I have been using it for a year.
I found I could not successfully send Large or Full size photos.
A few days ago I downloaded a new version of iPhoto (iPhoto '11 version 9.2.1).
Again, although I get the option of choosing to send small/medium/large//full size photos, it actually only sends them as "Small" (ie about 40kb) which is useless to publish. If I drag a picture onto the desktop (where my EXIF tells me it is full size) then attach it to an email by dragging, againg the sent email is at "small" size ~40KB).
My ISP (Westnet) tells me that their maximum accepted size is 12 MB.
I suspect that I have failed to set up iPhoto for this purpose. (I am well into retirement but, although geriatric, did study University Physics about half a century ago)

There are many sites that can host photos for free or very cheaply per year.
You create your own user location on these sites.
Do a search for either web hosting sites or photo hosting sites.

For iPhoto 09 (version 8.0.2) and later:
What you mean by 'share'.
If you want the other user to be able to see the pics, but not add to, change or alter your library, then enable Sharing in your iPhoto (Preferences -> Sharing), leave iPhoto running and use Fast User Switching to open the other account. In that account, enable 'Look For Shared Libraries'. Your Library will appear in the other source pane.
Any user can drag a pic from the Shared Library to their own in the iPhoto Window.
Remember iPhoto must be running in both accounts for this to work.
If you want the other user to have the same access to the library as you: to be able to add, edit, organise, keyword etc.
Quit iPhoto in both accounts. Move the Library to the Users / Shared Folder
(You can also use an external HD set to ignore permissions, a Disk Image or even partition your Hard Disk.)
In each account in turn: Double click on the Library to open it. (You may be asked to repair the Library Permissions.) From that point on, this will be the default library location. Both accounts will have full access to the library, in fact, both accounts will 'own' it.
However, there is a catch with this system and it is a significant one. iPhoto is not a multi-user app., it does not have the code to negotiate two users simultaneously writing to the database, and trying will cause db corruption. So only one user at a time, and back up, back up back up.
