How do I set Mail to send from specific account to specific recipient. Many thanks in advance

I have different external email accounts that I use within Mail.
Each time I send an email, I have to manually select from a drop down menu which email account I wish to use.
Is there any way within Mail to link recipients in my address book to the external email account so that I accidentally do not use the wrong external email account?
Many thanks in advance.

No. It will generally default to the one you last used.

  • Mail program sends from random accounts

i have 4 email accounts (gmail and aol) i manage with apple's mail program.  Sometimes it randomly sends emails from the wrong email address (I do select the right address but it sometimes sends from the account I have not selected - it's random.
Is there seomthing I need to reset?

I have the same problem, although I'd say it happens much more frequently than randomly. Practically everytime if I don't actually select it myself. I have 8 varieties of Microsoft and Google accounts. I haven't found a solution other than to paying more attention, but I'd like to know why it does it.

  • Mac Mail not sending from correct account.

I constantly use Mail to send and receive emails on my MacBook.
On it I have three email 'accounts' - my me.com address (for formal emails to work, banks etc.), my "junk" address (for spam, gaming etc.) and my "home" address (for personal emails and everything else).
When typing an email, if I choose to send it from a different account than the one I originally selected, I can just change it in the 'From' pop-down menu (under the 'To', 'Cc', 'Bcc' and 'Subject' fields).
Recently though, for some reason when I want to send an email from my "home" address, it sends it from my "junk"one instead, even if I am sending it 'From' my "home" address.
It still has my "home" address' signature, and not every time it does send from my "junk" one instead - rather it seems to send from both as it feels up to.
This bothers me quite a bit, especially when I send an important email using my "home" address but it sends from my "junk" - both confusing and annoying me and the recipients.
This only just started happening to me this past week. Does anyone else have the same issue, and any help would be greatly appreciated

Some mail servers such as gmail will change the address when sending from one account through another account's server.
Go into Mail's preferences under Accounts. Highlight each account and make sure the correct outgoing server is listed for that account with the correct user name and password. Each account should have their own. Check the box to use only that server with that account. Do this for all accounts.
If you don't check the box and the server fails, it will move on to the next one in the list. Then you will get the address from that server even though you're sending from a different account.
If the server does fail, you will get a selection box to try again or select another server.

  • When sending email Apple Mail is sending from both accounts instead of only the one I send it from

I have 2 mail accounts, one for me and one for my wife. When I now send mail it is being sent from both accounts instead of just the one it was sent from. How do I stop this and why is it happening? Nothing new has occurred and all updatees are current.

Both accounts are Gmail accounts too. FYI

  • Use Mail to send from a different account linked to Gmail

I use Gmail as my main personal email account and usually use with Mail via POP.
I also have Gmail set up to send from another account (my work address) which I can do by selecting a different "From".
This second email address is actually a MS Exchange Server mailbox, and I think the Gmail is just sending 'on behalf of' and getting replies sent to that address.
Is it possible to get the same results directly within Mail? (Not a huge problem if not, I can just log onto the Gmail website, but it would be nice to use Mail if possible).

I've had the same issue as you, and found this helpful.
Basically go into the Mail preferences and under accounts add the accounts (which Gmail gathers) that you want to send from to the "Email Adress" bar using a comma. For example:
Email Adress: [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
Then a drop-down menu will appear when creating/responding to mail that allows you to select which account to send from.
It can't seem to automatically respond to emails using the address it was sent to unfortunately, which Gmail cleverly does. But it's a step closer.
Anyways, check out the link. It was helpful for me!

  • I have 2 hotmail accounts on my mail, when I send from one account I receive the reply in my other account, how can I stop this from happening?

I have 2 hotmail accounts in my Mac Mail, when I send from one account the reply comes back to the other hotmail account, how can I stop this?

You should be able to open both accounts.
I believe Hotmail T&C may expect you to have only one account, but possibly multiple alliases.
You may have problems opening two separate hotmail accounts at once in Firefox. Try using a new private browsing window for the second one. With any look that will separate them enough for you to use both at once.
(With other account holders permission.) I sometimes open my own and another persons hotmail account by that method.

  • How Do You Set Mail To 'Manual' ?

Never had problem with iPhone until yesterday. I am not receiving 'push' e-mail anymore. I did not do any changes to the iPhone at all. Any e-mail now I have to go to inbox and click on the curved arrow symbol at bottom left of page in order to load the waiting e-mails. In a different posting someone mentioned to test 'push' function by setting e-mail to 'manual' and then sending your Yahoo account an e-mail from your computer (I assume using a different e-mail service). In the 'settings' menu for 'mail' I do not see where you set for 'manual'. How do you set mail to 'manual' setting? And do you think I should just RESET the iPhone (using the iPhone or hooking it up to iTunes on the computer to RESET) ?

I have no other e-mail accounts set up. Anyway I did RESET my iPhone (using the RESET button on the iPhone) and all is well again (how long I do not know). My e-mails are being 'pushed' again so that I can see from the main menu the little red dots (with the numerals inside) showing how many e-mails are waiting for me. I love this feature. I had 'push' e-mail on my ex-Blackberry. BUT, I do not see the AUTO-CHECK anywhere. I am heading over to the Apple Techies at my local Apple store to ask them about this missing AUTO-CHECK. I have a feeling you need two account set up on your iPhone for this feature to appear. I could be wrong. Thanks, everybody........

I have 4 email accounts in apple Mail.  My mail is sending from the wrong account.  even on "reply" it sends from a different account.  I have 3 gmail accounts and one exchange server account. I choose which account to send from and it still sends from the same gmail account.  Help.

I HAD two accounts because of this problem.  I completely removed the problem account from the Apple Mail client.  Guess what is happening??  That's right - Mail is still sending from the other account that no longer exists on my computer, and I have absolutely no idea how this is happening.  This is incredibly frustrating.  When a recipient chooses to reply to my message, quite often I won't get it now because it is going to the other account that has now been deleted from my system.  COME ON APPLE!!! WHAT'S THE DEAL WITH THIS???

  • Mail sends from random accounts

I noticed that mail will send from anyone of the 7 accounts I have set up. I prefer it to only send from my me.com account. Is there a way I can configure this in preference?

Not an iCloud question at all. This question is better suited to the Mac OS X 10.7 Lion Forum.
    Since you are here…
To specify a default email account in Mac OS X Mail:
    Go to Mail > Preferences
    Go to the Composing category.
Select the desired account under 'Send new messages from:' (under Addressing:).
    Close the Preferences window.
Also, Mac OS X Mail uses the topmost account in the Accounts list as the default for outgoing messages. You can change the order of the Accounts list using drag-and-drop. The individual account's folders under Inbox, for example, are also sorted in this order.

  • IPhone Mail Sending from Different Accounts

I have taken a look and cannot see anything on this topic - but I am having trouble with my iPhone sending emails from different accounts.
I have 5 IMAP accounts setup for different emails. When I go to send from one account, it seems to send from my GMail account (which is first in my email list), this is also true for when I reply or forward emails from any of the 4 other accounts.
I thought this might be due to the default mail option in the settings, so I changed this to another account but it was still all sending from my GMail account. When I turned the GMail account off - all accounts worked fine independently.
Has anyone experienced this and know if its a setting somewhere? or a problem in general?
    Many thanks

I am not sure - but I have had to disable the GMail for now so that I can send and forward from my other accounts. Its rather annoying that its defaulting to sending from the GMail account.
Do you think deleting the account and then re-adding it will make any difference?

  • How do I set up email addresses from my address book?

How do I set up email addresses from my address book?

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking.  If you are coming from pre-Mountain Lion, then Address Book has changed to Contacts.
    Open Contacts.
Select an Account in the group list, if you want the contact in a specific group. If Groups aren't showing, you can display them from the View menu.
Click the Add card button ( + ).
Enter the information for the contact.
If you need multiple entries for a particular field type, a new blank entry will show up below the one you are adding.
If you need other fields, use the Card menu to Add a new field type.
If you want to change the default fields available when you create a new card, choose Edit Template…
If you have sent emails to someone and you want to get that address to add to a Contact, use the Previous Recipients command in the View menu in Mail.
If you need to add a new Group, hover the cursor over the account name, and a + button will appear. Click it.

  • Outgoing Mac Mail always send from the same address?

    Hey y'all -
I use 3 gmail accounts through mac mail for 3 different purposes - all fine. But when I send mail, regardless of what account I send it from, recipients always recieve my emails from the same address? E.G. I send an email from addresses 1 or 2, but when they are received they are from address 3? I've also removed address 3 from mac mail, but recipients STILL see address 3 as the sender. Can anyone help? Would a reinstall of mail be appropriate, if so what would be the effective way to go about it?
    Thanks in advance,
    Stu

    SOLVED IT!
Right, I had multiple email accounts, all gmail, address 1 2 & 3.
All mail went to the right addresses, fine. But when I compose, lets say from address 1 or 2, it ALWAYS ends up being received the other end by address 3. I only find this out until I get a reply delivered to the wrong address.
SO  go to preferences, select one of the problematic addresses, then outgoing mailserver (SMTP:) in this case it will say Gmail. Click it so you get the drop down and edit SMTP list. There is a tab that says advanced. This is where I noticed the problem. On my list of SMTP servers I had one for my microsoft account, and then one Gmail one for all 3 gmail accounts. And what did I find for authentication? the username and password of the problem address that ALL my gmail accounts were sending through. You need to create SEPERATE smtp servers for each and every account, especially when using multiple accounts of the same kind (e.g. 3 gmails!)
This fixed the problem for me perfectly and now my emails send from the CORRECT selected address. HOORAH!
    ALSO...
Regardless weather it by gmail or hotmail you compose from, mac defaults to using the next working server. Before setting up seperate smtp servers for each gmail I just deleted the one that was there and then it started sending from microsoft account etc... just to clarify that it works regardless of account type!
