How do I set my default email client?

When a website, in my case a Fantasy Football site, has an option to send a mass email to all members, that function does not work for me in Firefox. How do I set Firefox to allow for such mass emails sent via another site?

Firefox is set up to use Gmail or Yahoo if you have those accounts. This article describes the steps: [[Change the program used to open email links]].
If you have a Hotmail/Outlook.com account, check out this thread: [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/953800 How to set Hotmail as default mailto simply, no gobbildy-gook].
If you are using a different mail site, some research might be required first. A volunteer here might be able to help, depending on the site.

  • TS3276 . How to set a default email client

I can't find a way to establish a default email client (I have 4) for Mail just upgraded to Mountain Lion. All help appreciated.
    George

It seems that you have to set up Mail first, though!
I'm using Thunderbird and would like to make it the default mail program, but it seems that I have to go through the entire process of setting up an account.  And, if I recall, sometimes mail programs will automatically download your messages-- which I wouldn't want Mail to do.
So, gurus, what's the way around this?

i have 2 email accounts set up under email, but how can i make one the default should i want to send something that requires email from the account that i want as default??

As a fellow Turbo owner, I have to say that's a great question! I actually have two email accounts as well (Hotmail Gmail), and my Hotmail is the primary. Curious: Are either of your email accounts Gmail? Have you tried discontinuing either of them, and then readding?

    That's ok, no problem.
Can't be done with a web based email client, but if you want, you can add your Gmail account using Mac Mail.
Launch the Mail app. From the Mail menu bar click Mail > Preferences then the Accouts tab then the Account Information tab.
Click + under the accounts panel on the left.
Type in your name, Gmail email address and password then click Continue and follow the instructions.
That way Safari has a default mail server to use under File > Share > Email This Page
You can then access your Gmail account from the Mail app. If you have new mail, you'll see a red badge icon on the Mail icon in your Dock.

I have 2 accounts in my Mail Preferences, hotmail and gmail.  I have tried to set it so when I send a message to a new recipient  it is my gmail one that is used as default.  However,  it is thehotmail account that is always ticked first.

  • How can I set up another email client to send mail as my dotmac account?

My business uses an online application that can send emails to our customers as long as we provide it with an email account. I used the following from my mail.app:
    SMTP HOST: smtp.mac.com
    SMTP PORT: 25
    SMTP_AUTH: true
SMTP USER: cryogen (my dotmac account and email)
SMTP PSWD: ****** (my dotmac password)
But, I cannot seem to get this to work. I tried it with another account I have with COMCAST.NET and I was able to successfully send emails using that account.
Is there something special about a dotmac account that I am missing?
    Thanks.

The information you’ve provided now is what I was asking for. Unfortunately, it’s still insufficient. It’s critical to know here whether the SMTP server does actually accept or reject the request of the mail client to send the message. Any conventional mail client would allow you to know that. In Mail, for example, you know that the message has been sent because Mail puts it in the Sent mailbox (whether the message arrives at the destination is an entirely different issue). And if the SMTP server rejects the message for some reason, Mail will report what the reason is.
Whether I’ve actually set up a different mail client to send with a .Mac account is irrelevant -- I don’t even have a .Mac account, for that matter, nor do I need one. Gee, if I needed to have the same accounts as the people I help, I couldn’t be here. Fortunately, I just need to know how email works and what the idiosyncrasies of some email services are, if any.
Try setting up your .Mac account using a conventional alternative mail client, such as Thunderbird, and you’ll see that you can do that with no problems -- or, if you have problems, it should be pretty clear what they are exactly and how to fix them.

  • How can I set my default email address for meeting invitations?

As I was adding a friend's and my lunch appointment in my calendar, I noticed an option to invite attendee. So I invited her and she accepted successfully.  My question is that when I invited her, the invitation came from an alternate yahoo email address that I don't use often.  I tried to switch the invitation to show it coming from my primary gmail address but couldn't figure out how to do it.
    Any advice? Thanks!

A few weeks ago I downloaded some free software from the "tucows.com" website, it appears to have permanently hijacked my web browsers (both firefox and IE) so all searches go to their "searchqu" site, and new tabs open at that site. I was unable to repair this with the addins you suggested or by editing my user preferences files, and ended up having to reinstall firefox. Hopefully I won't run into the tucows rootkit ;)
    But thanks anyway.

  • Can I set gmail as my default email client?

I am having trouble with Apple Mail and would prefer to use gmail as my default email client. Is there any way to do that in aperture?

Gmail is not a Mail Client. It's a mail service that needs a client to access it. That client can be a Web Browser, or an app like Mail, Entourage, Thunderbird etc. So, no you cannot set Gmail as the default email client. It's a bit like saying can I make HBO my Television Set.
If you want to use an app as default mail client in Aperture then the chosen app has to be scriptable, and that limits your options. There are only four supported: Mail, Entourage, AOL and Eudora.
Alternatively, you can access the Library from any Mail client or service via their Attach options:
In any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
    Uploaded with plasq's Skitch!
*+(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)+*
    Or any Media Browser.

  • Error message about default email client

Whenever Reader XI loads this error message appears:
"Either there is no default email client or the current mail client cannot fulfill the messaging request. Please run Microsoft Outlook and set it as the default mail client."
I have no idea how to fix this in Outlook after several attempts. Can I fix this within Reader or at least have the message never appear even if the client issue is not fixed?

Yesterday someone posted an interesting workaround that seems to get rid of the problem: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5529300#5529300 (post 19).
