You really don't want to do that, operate an iPad with 2 different ID's.
I'm presuming you have a work iPad and you want to put some non work bought apps on it. You will have issues, like half the iPad not working while the other half does.
Probably not something you want to explain to your IT department.

The original poster asked the question by posting from this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2731 - there is a link to that page just above his/her post (and why the title of their post starts 'HT2731'), which describes how to create an account, so that is why I replied to their post in that way.
An iTunes account can be authorised on 5 computer's iTunes at a time, and home sharing is therefore also limited to 5 computers at a time.
You should be able to create an account without needing to give a credit card : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534 e.g. select a free app in the store and click on 'create Apple id' when 'buying' it. I tried it a couple of weeks ago to check if it worked and that process worked for me, I was able to create an account and download a free app without giving a credit card number.
As I said on my original post it's generally best to have just the one account. All content that you buy/download via an account will be tied to that account, so only that account will be able to authorise its content on a computer, re-download it, or download updates to its apps. With automatic downloads or re-downloading an account's past purchases you can potentially tie a computer or device to that account for 90 days (I'm not entirely sure how that 90 days starts, some people have said that it has started for them, for others it hasn't) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627 -

You can not create a 'sub-account'.
If the children are 13 or older, they can create their own accounts. If they are younger, the only legal option is to set up Family Sharing and create IDs for them that way.

Well Roger , it may not be particularly difficult for you it is quiet clear that for several thousand people who managed to find the time to seek out help for these devices and programs that the manufacturer is unable or unwilling to provide it is at the very least "difficult"! If we are to tally up the amount of questions and inquiries posted on this one help site, I shudder to think of the size of the iceberg of inoperative functions and thus lost revenue to all those people , company's that like me have found things "difficult "! Last summer I created a "I cloud " address in a hurry while in dep lounge LHR
And now wish to change as above is reputed to be used by notorious thugs who assault seniors on streets and post result on Web, useing same letters that I had hastily typed prior to Flt over pond. Alas like you I am now aware of the inability of changing address and thus wish to create " alias" to at least hide offending letters . The can of worms gets more difficult as my main comp is an antique HP windows 7 on which I have installed Apple control panel ! Thus I get duplicate mail on an MSN Acc plus Hot mail that is still unable to decide if it wants to be known as "Outlook " or not? All the folders created by me for "HotMail " will show up with some persuasive tapping but will not allow the release to view their contents? If I click on "cloud mail" "no mail" message is shown! I can deposit info /file in Cloud mail "archive" but only if I navigate to " Mail box Accounts" first ? If I want to create a file , no facility seems to be available ? So info/files that warrant saving /filing are left flagged ,sloshing about in the InBox or stuffed into over burdened "Cloud Account!

You need to ask your mail provider for the setup info. Usually it can be found on ther website in their help pages or the like for most email providers.
If its a known service like hotmail, or gmail, there are preset options for those that fill in the required server info.
If its a corporate email, the IT department should have this information.
