How do i set up backups to iCloud of my files

Under ICloud I thought I was installing backups of my laptop....only my iphone is backing up....what do i do on my macbook air to also get it to back up ?

iCloud is more designed for what you were able to accomplish, than for what you were not able.
In fact, I don't know that you could get I cloud to do much more than keep copies of certain files that would sync to the iPhone, such as contacts and calendar entries. Files that are just used on the Mac, are not supported for backup. Sill, at only 5 GB capacity free of charge, the amount of space is quite miniscule. The rates for enough space for a full backup of a Mac are quite expensive, even if someday it could support it.
As such, you are much better off using another cloud service designed to support full computer backups.

Your iphone 4 must still be logged into your icloud account. Go to settings>icloud, scroll to bottom of page and tap Delete Account. This will remove all your data from the old device but not from icloud or your iphone 5.

You don't need separate iCloud accounts if you want to simply sync unique content to each device using iTunes. I have three iDevices using one ID and one iTunes library and each device has it's own content on it. You need to set up the sync configuration for each device. This is what I recommend.
First turn off auto sync in iTunes. Launch iTunes on the Mac and go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices>Prevent iPods, iPhones and iPads from automatically syncing. Click OK and then quit iTunes.
Connect one of your devices to the Mac and launch iTunes.
Click on the device name on the left side under the devices heading.
Click on a tab in iTunes - Apps for instance.
Click on the Apps that you want to sync to that device.
Make sure that the Sync Apps heading is checked.
Follow the same procedure for all of the other tabs in iTunes ..... Music, Photos, Movies and so on.
After you have finished making all of your selections, click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes.
When you are done, eject the first device and do the same thing with the other device. iTunes will now remember the sync configuration on each device.
You can change that configuration any time that you like by following the steps outlined above.
If you want to continue to auto sync, turn it back on in the iTunes preferences as described above.

Well Roger , it may not be particularly difficult for you it is quiet clear that for several thousand people who managed to find the time to seek out help for these devices and programs that the manufacturer is unable or unwilling to provide it is at the very least "difficult"! All the folders created by me for "HotMail " will show up with some persuasive tapping but will not allow the release to view their contents? If I click on "cloud mail" "no mail" message is shown! I can deposit info /file in Cloud mail "archive" but only if I navigate to " Mail box Accounts" first ? If I want to create a file , no facility seems to be available ? So info/files that warrant saving /filing are left flagged ,sloshing about in the InBox or stuffed into over burdened "Cloud Account!
I have tried to follow instructions in Apple Corp official instructions ,both I Pad and Cloud and am unable to locate the term "preferences" as no "Action pop up menu * has shown itself! thus I am unable click "Accounts" or "add an Alias" !

I think you mean that your backup has a password, and you don't know what it is. You cannot change the backup password if you don't know the current one; if you could there would be no point in having encrypted backups. You will have to guess the current backup password. It is one that you know and have used in the past, because you entered it. To speed up the process uncheck "Encrypt backup" in iTunes. You will be prompted immediately for the password.

Some of the "sync cart" solutions will hold anywhere from 10 to 40 devices and sync them all to one host pc.....you can also connect multiple devices to a powered usb hub and all of the connected devices will appear on the left side of iTunes...I think the main challenge would be giving each device a meaningful and unique name so that you could identify it when attempting to restore it...we are looking at the the Ergotron tablet management module, they have a user guide that describes the process for connecting multiple devices through their module to one host pc. You might also look at this solution, which is on the Apple Store.

I changed my Apple ID because I have changed my IP and my previous address is no longer active. Thanks to some kind people on here I've resolved problems with apps etc but now have a problem with iCloud. It keeps asking for my previous log in details but then doesn't recognise them. From what I've read I need to set up a new iCloud account but can't find any info on how to do it. I can only find info on initial set up on new devices. Can anyone help? Time Machine Editor will allow you to schedule backups whenever you like, but there is no option to set retention time.
You might want to take a look, but I am not necessarily recommending it.

Well, a Time Capsule is a network drive. You can normally backup your Mac to other network drives using Time Machine providing that the drives have been formatted in Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
I would recommend that you check with the drive manufacturer to see if they support Time Machine on their drives.
If you are running the Mountain Lion operating system and select both the Time Capsule and another network drive to receive Time Machine backups, Time Machine will alternate backups to disks automatically.
How Time Machine Editor would affect this is open to question. I haven't tried this.

Hi All:
So I went into my notes today to get some information there and poof, nothing, it's blank..... trying to think if I shut off it being backed up or not I went into settings and all my icloud settings were OFF.
Well, I logged into icloud on my computer and all my notes are there.... whew....
Now... how do I get the notes from icloud to my iphone? I have all the options turned on in settings but it will not refresh or show my notes..
Am I missing something here?

Open the notes app and tap Accounts, then tap iCloud; see if they appear now. If they don't, delete the iCloud account, then sign back in. Start by saving any photo stream photos older than 30 days to your camera roll (unless already there) or you will lose them. Then go to Settings>iCloud, scroll down and tap Delete Account, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (your data will still be in iCloud). Then sign back in to sync your iCloud data back to your phone. See if your Notes appear now.
