How do I set up file sharing in Lion Server to work like file sharing in Lion Client?

I've just installed Lion Server on my home iMac to enable remote access via VPN to my home network.
When the iMac was running Lion Client (before the upgrade to server), and when File Sharing was enabled on the iMac; when other Macs on the LAN connected to the iMac via AFP, they were always able to connect to (share) any mounted external volumes (external USB or FireWire drives connected to the iMac). e.g.
Now that I've upgraded to Lion Server, when other Macs on the LAN connected to the iMac via AFP they are only able to connect to (share) the sharepoints listed in the File Sharing pane of Server.app. e.g.
Is there any way to set up File Sharing in Lion Server so that it works the same way as it does in Lion Client with respect to mounted external volumes? i.e. they are automatically shared? I know I can add each volume manually to File Sharing in Server.app but this gets tedious.

I normally have a Firewall enabled. I recently had to do an erase and install of Lion, followed by a one-by-one re-install of all of my software. One of the first things I did was to set up all of my System Preferences the way I like them; Turning the Firewall on was one of them. Later I noticed it was off and turned it on again. I had already set up sharing and was surprised to see the problem when I turned it back on.
As to why do I think it needs to be on. It is another part of my security layer.

How do i set it to fit to screen to print the entire file? I have a file that is smaller than 8.5x11 but it says it's larger and clipping will occur and when I print it, it does not fit the paper. Ive even clicked the box that says Scale to Fit Paper Size and it's still giving me that message and cutting info off.
I also need to be able to size it by percentage so I can adjust it to fit into a pre made form Im working with.

First, I am new to this forum and I was told by Adobe that I would get help from Adobe as well as other users here, so that's why I posted. But nobody asked me for basic info about image dimensions and printing sizes. I never claimed to be an expert, just a basic user of PS, which is why Im asking for help. I've used this program for my basic needs which is probably 1/1000th of what PS is capable of, but it's what I've used and I've always had success doing what I needed to do with it. If you can help, I very much appreciate it but if you just want to slam me and say you don't believe what I say, then that's not really helpful. Since nobody else responded to this post with any offers for help, the info you seek is below. If you have any thoughts on how to help, I greatly appreciate it.
Im not sure how the image dimensions apply to my question at all but here they are: 3300x2550 with a 300 dpi resolution.
Im simply trying to get the program to allow me to fit the image to the paper Im printing and adjust it as necessary to make it fit a partially pre-printed form I need for work and in every PS version I've used that I can recall, it allowed that. It certainly allowed it, using the same printers Im using now, in CS5.
Also, you mentioned that the printer driver handles this but I can do this in every other program I have on this computer with the same printers, from Numbers (it's a Mac) to Preview to Mac Mail so why wouldn't it do the same thing in PS? That's what Im trying to find out here and with most software, I can pick up a phone or get on a one-on-one chat and get help, but apparently not with PS and since it's not a cheap program, I expected more. I never needed to call for help before using this new version, so that's something I need to consider.

I haven't used the SiliconDust product, but I have been using a similar product by Ceton, for nearly five years.
By inserting a CableCARD into the tuner, you would have access to the same channels as a set-top box. You rent a cableCARD from Verizon, just like you'd rent a set-top box from them. I have an m-card, which just allows multiple channels to be tuned at once, unlike the older s-card.
You do, however, lose Pay Per View and on-demand programming. For me, it's not a great loss.
The program guide is handled through Windows Media Center, which holds programming data for the next 14 days. You schedule your recordings there. It's also smart enough to reschedule shows, if there's a recording conflict (too many scheduled shows, not enough tuners)
Although you can contunue to use an IR blaster (I use one), you can also get a Media Center companion app from Ceton. It doesn't require a Ceton tuner...it will still control Media Center. The app costs a few bucks, but it's worth it. They make it for Android and Apple, and maybe Windows Phone. It will let you manage your schedules, and use your phone/tablet as a remote control over WiFi.
Buy a big hard drive to hold your scheduled recordings. Expect to use an average of 10-15 gigabytes per hour of HD recording. The beauty of this system, is that you can just add another hard drive whenever you need more space, sonething the STB's won't let you do.
For service in other rooms, use an Xbox360 if you have one. Or, buy a Ceton Echo extender (again, doesn't require a Ceton tuner). Don't use Wi-Fi for your extenders. Wired Ethernet is a must...most wireless won't be able to keep up.

Simple answer: no, you can't use that remote with the iPad.
The Camera Connection Kit (CCK) is only for importing pictures. It is not a general purpose USB port so will not work with just any USB device, other than cameras and USB flash drives (but only to import pictures.)

You apparently are using a version of OS X you did not purchase using your Apple ID. Although you can download Mavericks you cannot install it over your current system. You must repartition your hard drive, then reinstall the version of OS X originally installed when it came new from the factory. That would be on the installer discs that should have come with the computer. If the computer did not come with discs from the factory but OS X was pre-installed (Lion or Mountain Lion) then you can perform an Internet Recovery:
Install Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion Using Internet Recovery
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
Boot to the Internet Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND-OPTION- R keys until a globe appears on the screen. Wait patiently - 15-20 minutes - until the Recovery main menu appears.
Partition and Format the hard drive:
1. Select Disk Utility from the main menu and click on the Continue button.
2. After DU loads select your external hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed. Quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion. Mavericks: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks and click on the Install button. Be sure to select the correct drive to use if you have more than one.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

Lion server shows up in Finder "Shared" section but won't connect

My Lion server iMac shows up both on my home LAN and from work in the Finder Shared section.
Other Shared servers show up (just Lion not Lion Server) and work fine, as usual.
When clicking on the Lion server icon the Finder tries to connect and then is unable (no password entered). Connect As doesn't do anything. Also, removed the original entry in Keychain so there's no password every requested nor given, just fails.
Any ideas ?

Well, after much fumbling, I checked out ifelix' site again, and the trick was to select "shared" instead of "open" in Authentication Mode on the PC. I am not sure what the setup on my PC is now, but it works, and thats the main thing

Lion Server 10.7.3 file sharing permissions

I'm having really strange issues with Lion Server. Since upgrading to 10.7.3 I no longer have permissions to modify files on Share Points that I was once able to in 10.7.2. When I go to modify certain files or folders I get "The operation can’t be completed because you don’t have permission to modify some items."

Background
Access Control Lists (ACLs) are applied to folders and files to define user (and group) access privileges.
I have setup two Mac mini Servers at our company – one in our Melbourne office and one in our Sydney office. Each file server is made up of the following hardware:
1x Mac mini Server (with Lion Server).
2x Promise Pegasus 12TB (6x2TB) R6 RAID System (thunderbolt) in RAID5 configuration. The two Pegasus unit are mirrored (RAID1) using SoftRAID.
Users and Groups are replicated between the two servers via Open Directory.
The PeachPit book "OS X Lion Server Essentials" is the best book I've found that explains OS X Server services and configuration. It has a good explanation of POSIX and ACLs.
The Problem
It seems there is a bug in Lion Server that causes ACLs be ignored. A couple of times I've managed to fix the problem using these steps:
   1. Remove the share-point.
   2. Setup up the share-point. /Volumes/promiseraid/work
   3. Apply an ACL to a folder.
   5. Propagate the ACL to sub-folders.
When ACLs are not applied to a folder the older POSIX permission define access privileges. With POSIX mechanism the user, group and other access privileges applied to new files and folders is defined in the 'unmask' value. The default 'unmask' value sets file/folder group to read-only access. The upshot is when POSIX mechanism is used and a member of staff creates a file or folder it is read-only to colleagues. System Administrators shouldn't need to change the 'unmask' value – too technical. Apple documentation encourages System Administrators to use ACLs to define access privileges – use ACLs to overcome the limitations of POSIX.
The workarounds I've been considering
Stick with Lion Server, apply POSIX read&write (group and others) permissions to all folders at regular intervals (daily) and wait for Mac Apple to fix the problem.
Abandon Lion Server (10.7) and revert to Snow Leopard Server (10.6).
Abandon Lion Server (10.7) and setup a Microsoft Windows Server solution.
A solution?
Scanning the several threads here I think I discovered a "fix". Mac OS Lion doesn't seem to honour ACLs if
it is a volume is being shared (AFP and/or SMB), or
it a folder at the root level of the volume is being shared (AFP and/or SMB).
However, if the folder being shared is at least one folder deep ACLs seem to be honoured!

It would be good if Apple could address this limitation with either:
A note from Apple acknowledging this limitation ("undocumented feature") witch advice to not share a volume or a folder at the root level of a volulme. Instead, share a folder at least one level deep; or
Fix Lion Server so that any volume or folder can be shared and ACLs will be honoured.

How do I set a breakpoint in a Java Server page (.jsp)?

I have set up an application for remote debugging and am able to connect to it from JDeveloper. When the code execution comes to breakpoints that I have set in java (.java) files they work and the application stops so I can debug etc.
This also applies to breakpoints set in java code that is called from Java Server pages.
However if I set breakpoints directly in a java server page whether it is in html code or in java code (such as scriplets) the execution does not stop and the breakpoints are ignored.
Why? Is there some extra thing I have to do? I have tried in Project Properties/Run/Debug/Profile/Edit/Launch Settings to choose server as Virtual Machine for instance but that does not change anything.
Comment. I do not know if this is of interest but I am going to add some java server pages to an application and they are defined in a directory like this:
. . . src\org\yawlfoundation\yawl\resourcing\jsf\jsp
but when the tomcat deploys the .war file they end up here:
. . . apache-tomcat-6.0.18\webapps\resourceService
As I can find no package declaration in a .jsp file this should not matter but I mention it anyway.

thanks for explaining your background on what you are trying to do and I do understand the approach you are taking. Unlike user10689900's completely random post.
I've tried to convey why there is no support for JSP debugging in JDev, but again the main reason is that the current frameworks do not code Java directly into a JSP. The JSP is purely used to position the components on the page aiding visual design and real Java classes in tag libs do the rest.
So the evolution has been:
Servlets (Java classes writing HTML logic and intermingling presentation and business logic)
JSP 1.0 JSP (HTML looking) files where you can add scriptlets enclosed in <% ... %> <- you are here
JSP 1.1 Introduction of Tags and Tag libraries, tag libraries are true java classes and the JSP controls layout and simpler more elegant design.
Really JSP 1.1 is all about building reusable components together in tag libraries that can be reused across pages and improving design by not mixing presentation and business logic code together.
If I had inherited something as you have, my advice (if you can) would be to code up some tag libraries because it would be a good learning experience and would be very helpful for moving to more advanced frameworks like JSF.

How do I stop Dreamweaver from updating the Test server copy of a file when I open the local file?

The subject says it all. Every time I open a file, Dreamweaver connects to the testing server and uploads the local file to the test server.
I want to stop this behaviour. It's annoying!

My testing server is IIS running on my local machine.
The "local" copy of the file is actually on a remote share. I have the test server copy open in Notepad++. The two files are identical save for on extra line in the copy on the testing server. When I open the "local" copy in Dreamweaver, it shows me that some file activity is being done, and then Notepad++ tells me the file has changed and do I want to reload it. If I do, that extra line vanishes.
When I check the file activity log, it shows that the file activity is complete.
I haven't mentioned the production server because it doesn't seem to be affected, but we do have one.

This is a two step process. but for this you need to ensure that all your custom messages were created in custom application say XXC
download all the mesages by typing the below command from the developing server unix box
FNDLOAD apps/$CLIENT_APPS_PWD 0 Y DOWNLOAD $FND_TOP/patch/115/import/afmdmsg.lct XXC_CUSTOM_MESG.ldt APPLICATION_SHORT_NAME='XXC'once this command is successful you will get the definition and data in file XXC_CUSTOM_MESG.ldt.
Place this file in the main server unix box and run the below command :
FNDLOAD apps/$CLIENT_APPS_PWD 0 Y UPLOAD $FND_TOP/patch/115/import/afmdmsg.lct XXC_CUSTOM_MESG.ldt - CUSTOM_MODE=FORCE
